Gospel: John 15:18

“Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much

fruit”

Gospel Teaching:

The discourse by Jesus on the vine and branches oc-

curs during a mulchapter secon of John’s Gospel

that takes place during the Last Supper. Jesus indi-

cates that he is the connecon, the “vine”, between

the Father, the “vine grower”, and us, the “branches”.

The branches cannot live on their own. They will not

bear fruit unless they remain on the vine. Remaining

on the vine, the branches can be pruned and bear

more fruit. Keeping Jesus in our hearts and “pruning”

our belief through prayer and the Sacraments will

allow us to become his disciple and bear much fruit.

They will be studying the Civil War in Social Studies and were lucky enough to visit the site of the beginning of that war. The students were amazed to see the Ameri-can flag with only 33 stars on it.

With this year’s flu season behind us, starting next weekend, we will again offer the Chalice at all weekend Masses. CCC 1390 Since Christ is sacramentally present under each of the species, communion under the species of bread alone makes it possible to receive all the fruit of

Eucharistic grace. For pastoral reasons this manner of receiving communion has been legitimately established as the most com-mon form in the Latin rite. But "the sign of communion is more complete when given under both kinds, since in that form the sign of the Eucharistic meal appears more clearly."

Knight’s Chalice Program History. Sixteen years ago, the Knights began a

Chalice for Vocations Program. A Knight accepts a chalice into his home for one week and prays daily with his family for vocations. The Chalice is then passed along to another Knight. From time to time the chalice exchange occurs at Sunday Mass. This chalice has been in continuous circulation since 2002- every day from the very beginning, a Knight has prayed for vocations.

Easter and the Victory of LIFE! The victory of life has been won, but has not yet fully unfolded. We therefore rejoice and struggle at the same time; we must not relax our efforts to protect God's gift of life from the culture of death that surrounds us. May we respond to the needs of those who are tempted to destroy the life within them, and may we help to build a world which re-jects every form of violence, especially the violence of abortion.

On Thursday, April 12, JPII sophomore Ray Johnson pitched the school’s first ever no-hitter against Colleton Prep. Ray was so dominant in the 3-0 victory that he never al-

lowed the ball to leave the infield. The gem was accom-plished with only 79 pitches. According to JPII baseball head coach Pete Birmingham, Ray has had a huge impact on the 2018 JPII baseball sea-son and his no-hitter against Colleton Prep was just the latest display of his talent. “He completely dominated his opponents to the point that he never allowed the ball to leave the infield,” said Birmingham. “Through it all he has always maintained a humble attitude. It’s safe to say he’s probably the person least impressed with himself.” Congratulations, Ray! Job well done.

Permanezcamos unidos a Cristo...

LECTURAS DE HOY

Primera Lectura (Hch 9,26-31)
