Year of Sacraments • One Word at a Time
Nothing gets sureror quicker attention than hollering,“Look out!” Thewords alert others, perhaps to some impending danger. We may not see a car comingor a box about to crash down. And whenwe hear those words, we do look out. Wesee something that we didn’t notice before.
In Advent, the prophets, especially Isaiahand John the Baptist, cry, “Look out! Beaware. Notice what is happening and whatis about to happen.” They are the voicesof Advent that grab our attention. The sacraments, too, are signs that speak to usand call for our attention. Whether it is theEucharist or Penance or any other sacrament, they alert us to realities that we may notnotice—the presence of the Lord, the possibility of mercy, or the visibility of God’slove in a married couple’s life together. Listento the voices of Advent. And then look outfor and listen to for the sacramental signsaround us.
Año De Los Sacramentos • De Palabra En Palabra
