YEAR 10 COMMUNITY SERVICE Year 10 students will be taking part in Community

Service activities from Monday 3 December to Friday 7

December. As part of the week's activities, students

will be visiting St Basil's Nursing Home and the Soup

kitchen at Redfern. Also, a significant part of the week

will be dedicated to collecting canned food, clothing,

toys and other necessary items for the needy.

Donations are welcome from all families. They can be

brought to Father Peter's classroom (W7).

Primary students can drop off items to Ms

Xanthoudakis' office, where they will be sent over to

Father Peter's room.

CHRISTMAS CAROLS The Christmas spirit was evident on Friday, 30

November when again the school community came

together to celebrate the advent of Christmas.

Students from both the Primary and High School sang

Christmas carols in English and Greek.

Again, the playground was transformed into a

Christmas wonderland with fairy lights, candles and

stalls. This celebratory ambience was a joyful event for

families and staff, as the academic year comes to an

end.

Congratulations to all the teachers and staff as well as

the Ladies Auxiliary for organizing such a convivial

evening of mirth and merriment.

Term Dates Term 4 ends for all students on Wednesday, 12

December. We wish all families a Merry Christmas and

a Happy New Year.

School resumes on Thursday, 31 January for all

students Years 1-12.

School begins for Kindergarten students on Monday 4

February 2019.



Primary News As we approach the end of the Year, I would like to take

this opportunity to congratulate all the students for

their great efforts and wonderful achievements this

year. Term 4 is always a very busy and full term. I thank

our students and teachers for helping make 2018

another successful year. I wish you all a wonderful and

relaxing holiday break and hope that you all return

energised for another busy and exciting year ahead.

St Euphemia College Preparatory School 2019 Our Prep School is a great place for your child to begin

their learning journey. The School provides an

environment, which is safe and secure, encourages

creativity and promotes learning. The class operates

from 8:45am to 3:00pm from Monday to Friday. The

students are exposed to the Early Stage one outcomes

from the NESA, through an integrated, play based and

inquiry based, hands on approach. The program

emphasises on early literacy and numeracy. There are

specialist lessons available in Modern Greek, Music, ICT

and Religion. Students also visit the School Library

weekly and participate in Greek Dancing lessons on

specified days. Please note that there is a minimum

attendance of two days a week. If your child turns 4 in

2019 and you are interested, please fill out the

Enrolment Form available from the Front Office. We

look forward to welcoming our new Prep students for

2019.

Kindergarten 2019 There are vacancies available for Kindergarten 2019. If

you have any friends or relatives interested in enrolling

their children, please ask them to contact the

Enrolment Officer, Ms Kiahidis for an application form.

The School also has some vacancies in some of the

other grades. Any interested friends, neighbours or

relatives, can also contact the School for an Enrolment

Form or they can download it from our website

www.steuphemia.nsw.edu.au. Interested parents

wishing to tour the School can contact the Secretary for

an appointment with the Primary Deputy.

Sport/Bus Transport Levy Sport/Bus transport levy fees are now overdue. Please

ensure that payment is made to the school before the

end of the school year.

Dangers of the Internet It has come to the School’s attention that some

students in the Primary school are using social media

and online gaming as a platform to bully and harass

other students of the School. Parental supervision of

students’ use of the internet is paramount as students

of primary age are still too young to correctly

understand the implications of their actions online.

These same students could also fall victim to online

predators who stalk the internet for children that have

access to it without parental supervision. In these

trying times, I urge all parents to be vigilant and to

correctly supervise their children’s internet time.

Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony –

Tuesday 4 December Parents and friends are invited to attend the

Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony. This special event

will be held on Tuesday 4 December starting at 9:00am

in the Peter Theophilou Wing of the new building.

During the ceremony the Kindergarten students will be

escorted by their Year 6 buddies and will receive their

Kindergarten Certificates for completing their first year

of ‘big school’. They will also perform the play

‘Goldilocks’.



Holy Communion – Tuesday 11 December Holy Communion will be offered to the students for the

final time this year on Tuesday 11 December. Please

ensure that students who are receiving Holy

Communion are properly prepared (no breakfast).

Students will be given the opportunity to eat directly

after the service.

Prep Graduation Ceremony – Thursday 6

December Parents and caregivers of the Prep students are invited

to attend a morning tea on Thursday 6 December at

9:00am in the Prep classroom. During the session, the

Prep students will be presented with their certificates

and medallions. They will also be performing a few

items for us to enjoy. We kindly ask that only parents

of the Prep class attend, as we have limited seats in our

classroom. Morning tea will also be provided.

Year 6 Graduation Dinner—Friday 7

December Each year we hold a Graduation Dinner to celebrate the

end of Primary School for our Year 6 students. The

Graduation Dinner is planned as a family event and we

encourage all Year 6 parents to attend and share the

celebration with us. The Graduation will be held at the

Himalaya Emporium Function Centre on Friday 7

December between 7:00pm to 11:00pm. The cost is

$55 per person. Completing Year 6 is a significant

milestone for students as they move onto High School.

We look forward to a great evening celebrating the

journey that the Year 6 students have taken to this

point in their lives.

Primary Sports Assembly—Monday 10

December The Primary Sports Assembly will be held on Monday

10 December at 1:30 pm in the Peter Theophilou Wing

of the new building (access via East Terrace only). It is

an event that celebrates the students who have

achieved excellent accomplishments in Sport and some

other awards will be presented as well. We look

forward to seeing parents and caregivers on the day.

Primary Presentation Day– Tuesday 11

December Parents and caregivers are invited to attend our Annual

Primary Presentation Day Ceremony for Years 3-6 on

Tuesday 11 December at 11:00 am in the Peter

Theophilou Wing of the new building (access via East

Terrace only). We hope you can join us. Parents

wishing to take their children home after the

Ceremony may do so by simply signing them out at the

Front Office and notifying their teachers.

P.S.S.A. Summer Sports Finals Congratulations to the Junior Boys Basketball Team for

winning their Grand Final and to the Boys Softball Team

for coming Runners Up in their Grand Final. Our school

is very proud of the boys and their effort and

commitment to their teams. Thank you to their

coaches – Ms Stratikopoulos (Basketball Coach) and Ms

Vourtsanis (Softball Coach) – for their dedication.

Congratulations also to the girls T-Ball and girls Softball

teams for reaching the Semi-Finals. We look forward to

a new season of PSSA in 2019.

Parent Volunteers I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the

parents and caregivers who volunteered their time

throughout this year, either by assisting with reading

groups or by coming along on the excursions. Your

assistance has been greatly appreciated. We look

forward to your continued support in 2019.



Excursions...

Year 1 – Monday 3 December On Monday 3 December, Year 1 will be visiting Sydney

Aquarium at Darling Harbour, as part of their English

unit ‘Under the Sea’. The cost of the excursion is $40.

Students will need to bring their own packed recess,

lunch and water bottle. Students are to wear their

summer sports uniform including their sport hat. In the

event of wet weather, the excursion will proceed as

planned and students are to bring their raincoats.

Years 3 & 4 – Wednesday 12 December On Wednesday 12 December, Years 3 and 4 will be

going on an excursion to Archie Brothers in Alexandria.

The cost of the excursion is $50. Students are to bring

their own packed recess including a water bottle.

Lunch will be provided by the venue. They are to wear

their summer sports uniform, including their hat. In the

event of wet weather, the excursion will proceed as

planned.

Years 5 & 6 – Wednesday 12 December On Wednesday 12 December, Years 5 and 6 will be

going on an excursion to Zone Bowling at Revesby. The

cost of the excursion is $40. Students will need to bring

their own packed recess and lunch, including a water

bottle. They are to wear their summer sports uniform,

including their hat. In the event of wet weather, the

excursion will proceed as planned.

The Year Ahead...

Welcome to new Prep and Kindergarten Students

On Thursday 31 January, we welcome back our Year 1

to Year 6 students. On Monday 4 February we welcome

our new Prep and Kindergarten students for 2019 to

our School. The Kindergarten students will meet in the

School Hall at 9:30am, where they will be introduced

to their class teachers. A reminder that Kindergarten

will finish School at 2:50pm from Monday 4 February

until Friday 8 February 2018. For this week only,

parents will be allowed to pick their children up from

their Kindergarten classrooms.

On the week beginning 4 February, Prep students will

also begin their schooling. Parents are to drop off and

collect their Prep children from the Prep Room, located

on Level 1 of the Primary building. We are looking

forward to seeing all our new students and their

families.

Class Allocations Classes for 2019 are in the process of being organised.

These changes are necessary in order to give students

the opportunity to interact with a variety of students

from their grade and to help facilitate students’ social

development. This will give students the chance to

make new friends or even have a fresh start.

Information regarding classes and teachers will not be

released prior to the beginning of the 2019 School

term.

Swimming Program 2019 During Term 1, Year 2 will undertake swimming lessons

every Thursday, commencing Thursday 7 February.

Years 3 and 5 will take part in a two week Intensive

Swimming Program commencing Monday 4 February.

More details and a permission note will be handed out

upon the student’s return to School.

Cocurricular Classes for 2019 Our cocurricular program will be continuing in the 2019

School year. Cocurricular classes are available for

students in Years 3 to 6. Students will have the

opportunity to participate in Art and Yoga classes.

The School provides plastic covers which will protect

the books. The covers can be purchased at the

beginning of the school year for $20. Once an exercise

book is finished, a new one will replace the old one.

Students are not to staple books together. Please do

not buy A4 size books, as they do not fit the plastic

covers. Page numbers are a guide depending on the

subject. Exercise books with similar numbers may also

be purchased.



School Uniform Shop The uniform shop has introduced a Lay-By system

whereby parents will be able to lay-by and pick up the

uniform required and pay the remaining amount in

Last Month...Kindergarten Transition After a successful Kindergarten Orientation, we

welcomed our new Kindergarten students to our

School through a series of Transition Sessions. The

students had a lot of fun meeting the Kindergarten

teachers and participating in a variety of activities.

They had the opportunity to sing, dance, and complete

some art and craft. We look forward to seeing them in

2019.

Year 2 – NSW Rail Museum On Thursday 22 November, Year 2 went to the NSW

Rail Museum at Thirlmere. They learnt about life on the

train lines and in the workshops. They found out how

signals kept the lines safe and they explored a variety

of Steam Trains. The Prison Van was a favourite!

Students experienced a Steam train firsthand by going

on a Train Ride.

Year 5 ‘CARES’ Excursion On Wednesday 24 October, Year 5 attended the

Community and Roads Education Scheme ‘CARES’

program in Bass Hill. The students were greeted by two

Constables and were split into groups according to

their riding ability. Year 5 watched a bicycle safety

video in the media room, which detailed real life

situations and examples of bicycle accidents and

fatalities as a result of not following and adhering to

the bicycle safety laws. The students thought about

these situations through group discussion and gave

examples of how these accidents and fatalities could

have been prevented. Year 5 also participated in an

obstacle course and a mini road track consisting of a

round-a-bout, zebra crossings, traffic lights, stop signs

as well as other signs and signals, using the two and

three- wheeled bicycles provided by CARES. The

students were given licences and received demerit

points when they ‘broke the law’ on the mini road

track. The Constables spoke to the students about the

importance of always wearing a bicycle helmet, how to

know if their helmet complies with Australian

Standards and showed them the correct application of

putting a helmet on. Year 5 had a fantastic day and

learnt a great deal about bicycle safety.



Year 6 Camp to Canberra Monday 12 November was the day Year 6 was waiting

for ALL year! We went to the one and only Australia’s

Capital - Canberra. Everyone was excited from the

moment we all woke up. We dropped off our luggage

and boarded the bus. We all waved goodbye to our

family and off we went.

An hour passed and together we realised that we were

at the big, yellow M. We were at our good friend

‘McDonald’s’ where we had a quick bite to eat.

Two hours later and we finally arrived at Canberra!

The places that we visited that day were Parliament

House, the National Electoral Educational Centre and

the Museum of Australian Democracy. We were given

the opportunity to watch and listen to the Senators

debate about issues concerning free trade in Australia.

After that, we participated in a role-play where we

were the Senators. That was definitely one of the

highlights of our trip.

We then went to the National Electoral Educational

Centre where we learnt all about voting and how to

actually vote. We even got a chance to perform a mock

vote on our favourite fruits.

Next stop was the Museum of Australian Democracy

(Old Parliament House). We learnt all about democracy

and we had another role-play session. This time we got

the opportunity to actually perform the role-play in the

House of Representatives chamber.

After our busy day we went to our accommodation at

Canberra Park. At last the teachers revealed which

students were in each room. In our room we were with

Irene and Mary. Once we unpacked we made our way

to the dining room to eat.

Tuesday came and we visited the CSIRO Discovery

Centre. We learnt what things CSIRO had invented and

we also participated in a fun activity. We navigated

different facts around CSIRO in order to find the

answers to the questions that were given to us. Did you

know that the CSIRO invented Wi-Fi and more?

We arrived at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS)

where one of the workers gave us a tour around the

building. She showed us where the Junior Elite

Gymnasts trained for their future career. They were

absolutely fabulous and talented.

After the tour we went to Sportex. At Sportex we

played many simulated sport activities such as skiing,

soccer, bike racing and many more.

Next came the Australian War Memorial. We walked

around and we saw many artifacts that reminded us

how grateful we should be and how the soldiers of the

wars sacrificed their lives for us. There were many red

poppies and wreaths laid around the Tomb of the

Unknown Soldier. In the room with the Unknown

Soldier, there were many beautiful details on the

stained glass windows.

Later in the evening we arrived at iplay. There were

dodgem cars, laser-tag and arcade games that were a

lot of fun! Iplay was one of our favourite places.

The last day, Wednesday, was here and we were all

very sad that camp was nearly over.

We first arrived at Geoscience Australia and we learnt

about many different types of rocks, fossils, minerals,

earthquakes and crystals. We got to do a fun activity,

which was to try and create a fake earthquake by

jumping up and down.

Our last and final stop in Canberra was the one and

only Questacon! We first went to the shop to buy some

souvenirs and then we went over to all the different

Science galleries.

Our favourite was the Excite gallery with all the fun

games and the Free Fall drop where you slide down an

8 metre drop. It was so much fun!



Unfortunately camp came to an end. This camp was an

amazing experience that all of Year 6 will never forget.

IPSHA Public Speaking Competition Congratulations to Nathan Gregoriades, Georgie

Kekatos and Tiana Sentas who participated in the

IPSHA Speakers' Challenge held at Abbotsleigh Junior

School on Thursday 15 November. The topic the

students had to present was entitled: ‘Missing’. Our

students competed in the Preliminary Round and

achieved high scores within their groups. It was a

wonderful experience for our students who performed

exceptionally well.

Alpha Show On Monday 5 November, Prep to Year 6 had the

pleasure of experiencing the production, ‘Snow Queen’

from Alpha Shows. The Snow Queen looked at how our

negative or positive perceptions alter our thoughts and

emotions and either support or prevent us from

coming into alignment with everything we want to

create and our own potential. The students had the

opportunity to ask questions at the end of the

performance and interact with the characters.



High School News YEAR 9 CAMP Year 9 leave for Camp Toukley on Monday 3 December

and return on Wednesday 5 December. We wish them

an enjoyable and safe experience.

HOLY COMMUNION All students will be attending church on Friday

morning, 10 December.

They are all encouraged to prepare and partake of Holy

Communion.

PRESENTATION NIGHT The Principal and staff of the College invite all

parents/caregivers, students and friends to attend the

Annual Presentation Evening on Wednesday, 12

December at 6 30 pm for a 7 00pm start in the New

School Hall. It is a wonderful occasion where we

celebrate the achievements of our students.

All students are expected to attend in full school

uniform, as the final yearly reports are distributed at

the end of the evening.

Congratulations to all students for their diligence in

achieving their best!

NSW SCHOOL CONSTITUTIONAL

CONVENTION 2019 After attending the NSW Schools Constitutional

Convention at NSW Parliament on Tuesday 30 October

2018, Peter Evripidou (Year 12), has now been selected

to participate in the National Schools Constitutional

Convention in Canberra (NSCC) from 19-21 March

2019.

Congratulations to Peter for this accomplishment and

we wish him good luck in such an educational and

rewarding experience.

YEAR 11 RETREAT On Monday 12 November, 46 eager Year 11 students

embarked on a journey together for their last school

camp. After arriving at the sunny Gold Coast, the first

day was spent at Surfers Paradise Beach where the

students enjoyed their time in the waves, shopping and

relaxing with their friends and teachers.

Later that evening we arrived at our accommodation at

the Queensland Conference and Camping Centre in

Tambourine Mountain, each of us impatient to see our

home for the next five days. That night we all took the

opportunity to settle into our cabins, complaining

about our sunburns and cold water showers until we

finally fell asleep from the exhausting day.

On Tuesday morning, Year 11 rejoiced at Dreamworld.

We spent the day exploring the theme park, looking at

the animals, taking pictures with the characters,

screamed on rides and some students partook in the

Giant Drop which was officially declared the ‘tallest,

vertical free-ride in the world’, standing 119m high.

Following that day, we participated in ‘The hour of

friendship’ with Ms Omeros, where we were mixed

with different students in our grade and bonded with

one another.

The next day, we embarked on our journey to

Wet‘n‘Wild. We created many funny memories

together on the various action packed rides including

the Black Hole, Aqua Loop and Tornado. All the

students were exhausted from the bright sun and rides,

so we made our way back to the cabins. Later that

evening, Ms Shakallis, our School Counsellor,

conducted a seminar on Self Care in the HSC, where we

learnt about different stresses and how to deal with

them.

It was again another early start for us on Thursday,

where we made our way to the breath-taking Greek

Orthodox church of St Anna’s where we were



welcomed with warm arms as always. After the lovely

service, Father Romanos gave us an enlightening

speech and our grade presented the church with a gift

on behalf of the Year 11 students of St Euphemia

College. After church, we spent the rest of the day at

Pacific Fair where we spent our time at the movies and

shopping. For our final night at camp, we packed our

bags and Father Peter conducted an inspirational

seminar where we were reminded that God is with us

and what it takes to be a Christian. This encouraged all

of us to set a goal to perform good deeds.

On the last day of camp, we were greeted by the bright

and shining sun where we said goodbye to our home

and patiently waited for Movie World. Here we were

intimidated by the Joker ride as we made our way into

the theme park. Many students were dare devils and

had their insides rearranged after partaking in this ride.

We boarded the bus and made our way to the airport

where we sadly had to say goodbye to the Gold Coast

and get back to the reality of Year 12.

On behalf of Year 11, we would like to thank Ms

Omeros for all the time and effort she placed in

organising this camp for us, as well as Father Peter, Ms

Lou, Ms Shakallis and Mr Verghios for making this trip

so memorable. This trip was definitely a spiritual

experience with self-reflection, preparation for the

HSC, creating new friendships and restoring old ones.

FIRST AID On Wednesday 21 November, Year 8 participated in a

St John First aid Course. The experience was

phenomenal and interesting to view and participate in.

We learnt many new skills necessary in our daily lives

and for our own knowledge. We regained our

knowledge on what we learnt last year in PDHPE.

DRSABCD is a skill that we now know very well, if we

find ourselves in a situation involving an emergency for

the wellbeing and survival of another person. We saw

it as a valuable skill for our future. It taught us how to

react in any emergency situation. Anaphylaxis id

unfortunately experienced by many people in the

world. Reaction towards this situation is undertaken

calmly, as in all emergency health situations. We were



taught to respond in this manner by laying the victim

straight and still and how to use an Epipen. Overall, it

was a great experience and our knowledge was

extended regarding health.

SPORTS REPORT Wednesday 21 December was another excellent

day for our school. Our Girls Oztag and Boys Rugby

League teams were victorious at the annual NRL Gala

Day with All Saints Grammar. Two tightly contested

games, with the girls winning 2 - 0 and boys 14 - 6.

It was a fitting end for Elisa Georgiou (Year 12) and

Krystian Papadopoulos (Year 12) who were very

valuable players for their respective games. They have

given so much to our school from a sporting

perspective. All students who represented SEC

yesterday were fantastic. Congratulations to all the

players.

Thank you to Mr Koutsoukis and Mr Xanthoudakis for

their efforts and dedication.

COMMUNITY SERVICE Year 10 began their week of community service

accompanied by their teachers with visits to St Basil's

Lakemba, Saints Constantine and Helen Soup Kitchen

in Newtown, as well as assisting students with their

learning in the Infants and Primary school.

All those who were visited, were delighted with our

students and praised the School’s initiative. A special

thank you to Mr Xanthoudakis who accompanied the

students to the Soup Kitchen at Newtown and Mr

Vardouniotis who delivered food donations to Fr

Nectarios. Our students were kept there the whole day

as the food service took longer than anticipated but it

was worth the experience. The feedback was again

outstanding. Finally, thank you to Ms Xanthoudakis

and the Infants and Primary teachers who allowed our



students to assist them throughout the day.

Throughout the week students also participated in the

distribution of meals through the Meals on Wheels

program. Thank you to Ms Angelou, Mr Koutsoukis, Ms

Radivojevic, Mr Vardouniotis and Mr Xanthoudakis for

accompanying the students and the volunteers on the

meal "runs". The students enjoyed being part of this

worthwhile service and met some wonderful people.

Opportunities for the application of the Christian

virtues of love for one's fellow person and giving are

very important experiences that our students embrace

and appreciate. The volume of calls from parishioners,

parents and co-workers from both Saint Basil's Nursing

Τα Νεα Της Αγιας Ευφημιας Χριστουγεννιάτικα Κάλαντα Την Παρασκευή, 30 Νοεμβρίου η σχολική κοινότητά

συγκεντρώθηκε για να γιορτάσει τον ερχομό των

Χριστουγέννων. Οι μαθητές τραγούδησαν

Χριστουγεννιάτικα κάλαντα στα ελληνικά και αγγλικά.

Το προαύλιο ήταν και πάλι στολισμένο και

φωταγωγημένο και υπήρχαν και διάφορα περίπτερα.

Η γιορτινή αυτή ατμόσφαιρα έδωσε μεγάλη χαρά σε

όλες τις οικογένειες και το προσωπικό καθώς

πλησιάζει το τέλος της σχολικής χρονιάς.

Συγχαρητήρια σε όλους τους δασκάλους/καθηγητές

καθώς και τις Κυρίες της Φιλόπτωχου για την άριστη

διοργάνωση μιας τόσο ευχάριστης βραδιάς.

Κοινωνικές Δραστηριότητες της Α’ Λυκείου Οι μαθητές της Α’ Λυκείου θα συμμετέχουν σε

δραστηριότητες κοινωνικού-φιλανθρωπικού

χαρακτήρα από τη Δευτέρα 3 Δεκεμβρίου έως την

Παρασκευή 7 Δεκεμβρίου. Στα πλαίσια αυτών των

δραστηριοτήτων τους θα επισκεφθούν το Γηροκομείο

του Αγίου Βασιλείου καθώς και το “Soup Kitchen” στο

Redfern. Επίσης, στις δραστηριότητες των μαθητών

συμπεριλαμβάνεται και η συλλογή τροφίμων, ρούχων,

παιχνιδιών καθώς και άλλων χρήσιμων αντικειμένων

για ανθρώπους που τα έχουν ανάγκη.

Είναι ευπρόσδεκτες οι δωρεές από όλες τις

οικογένειες και μπορούν καταχωρηθούν στην

αίθουσα του Πατέρα Παναγιώτη (W7).

Οι μαθητές του Δημοτικού μπορούν να αφήνουν τις

δωρεές τους στο γραφείο της κυρίας Ξανθουδάκη,

από όπου θα μεταφερθούν στην αίθουσα του Πατέρα

Παναγιώτη.

για τους μαθητές της Α’ Δημοτικού – Γ’ Λυκείου είναι

η Πέμπτη, 31 Ιανουαρίου 2019.

Οι μαθητές του Νηπιαγωγείου θα ξεκινήσουν τη

Δευτέρα, 4 Φεβρουαρίου 2019.



Τα Νέα του Δημοτικού Εγγραφές Προνήπιου 2019 Εάν το παιδί σας θα κλείσει τα 4 το 2019, μπορείτε να

συμπληρώσετε μια αίτηση που θα δοθεί στους

μαθητές στο τέλος του Νοεμβρίου. Όσοι θέλετε,

μπορείτε να προμηθευτείτε την αίτηση από τη

Γραμματεία του σχολείου. Παρακαλώ σημειώσετε ότι

απαιτείτε το λιγότερο 2 παρουσίες των μαθητών την

εβδομάδα.

Δεκέμβριος 2018/Ιανουάριος 2019 Καθώς φτάνουμε στο τέλος της φετινής μας χρονιάς,

θα ήθελα να συγχαρώ όλους τους μαθητές για την

προσπάθεια που κατέβαλαν φέτος καθώς και για τα

εκπληκτικά επιτεύγματα τους. Το Δ΄ Τρίμηνο είναι από

τα πιο πολυάσχολα και κουραστικά τρίμηνα. Θα ήθελα

να ευχαριστήσω τους μαθητές και τους/τις

δασκάλους/ες, χάρη στους οποίους η φετινή χρονιά

του 2018 ήταν τόσο επιτυχημένη. Εύχομαι σε όλους

καλές διακοπές, καλή ξεκούραση και είθε να

ξεκινήσουμε το 2019 ανανεωμένοι.

Προνήπιο του Κολλεγίου της Αγίας Ευφημίας

2019 To Προνήπιο αποτελεί την πρώτη εκπαιδευτική

αφετηρία των παιδιών σας. Το Σχολείο μας ευνοεί ένα

ασφαλές περιβάλλον που προωθεί τη

δημιουργικότητα και τη μάθηση. Η τάξη του

Προνήπιου αρχίσει στις 8:45πμ και σχολάει στις

3:00μμ, από Δευτέρα ως Παρασκευή. Οι μαθητές θα

κινηθούν στα πλαίσια των στόχων του Α΄ Προστάδιου

του NESA, μέσα από το δημιουργικό παιχνίδι και με

βάση της εξερεύνηση. Το πρόγραμμα αυτό δίνει

έμφαση στη γλώσσα και την αριθμητική.

Επιπρόσθετα, τα παιδιά διδάσκονται Νέα Ελληνικά,

Φυσική Αγωγή, Πληροφορική, Θρησκευτικά και

μαθαίνουν ελληνικό χορό. Τα παιδιά επισκέπτονται τη

βιβλιοθήκη κάθε εβδομάδα. Αν το παιδί σας θα γίνει 4

χρονών το 2019 και ενδιαφέρεστε να το γράψετε στο

Προνήπιο, μπορείτε να αποταθείτε στη Γραμματεία

του Σχολείου για την αίτηση εγγραφής. Οι μαθητές του

Προνηπίου θα πρέπει να παρακολουθούν τα

μαθήματα τουλάχιστον δύο φορές την εβδομάδα.

Έπειτα από μία επιτυχημένη χρονιά, ανυπομονούμε

να καλωσορίσουμε τους νέους, μικρούς μας μαθητές

στο σχολείο μας το 2019.

Νηπιαγωγείο 2019 Υπάρχουν ακόμη μερικές θέσεις για μαθητές του

Νηπιαγωγείου για το έτος 2019. Όσοι γονείς έχουν

φίλους ή συγγενείς που ενδιαφέρονται να γράψουν τα

παιδιά τους στις τάξεις αυτές μπορούν να

επικοινωνήσουν με τη Γραμματεία του Σχολείου για

την αίτηση εγγραφής. Υπάρχουν ακόμη μερικές θέσεις

και στις άλλες τάξεις του Δημοτικού στο Σχολείο μας.

Όσοι γονείς έχουν φίλους ή συγγενείς που

Σπορ- Χρηματικό ποσό εξόδων Μεταφοράς Σας υπενθυμίζουμε ότι η προθεσμία για να πληρωθεί

Κατάστημα Ενδυμάτων Σχολικής Στολής Οι γονείς μπορούν να πληρώνουν τη σχολικής στολής που

θέλουν με το νέο σύστημα Lay-By που έχει εισαγάγει το

κατάστημα ενδυμάτων σχολικής στολής, και να πληρώσουν

τον Ιανουάριο. Το κατάστημα σχολικών στολών θα είναι

Οι κίνδυνοι που καραδοκούν στο διαδίκτυο Μας έχουν ενημερώσει ότι μερικοί μαθητές του

Δημοτικού χρησιμοποιούν τα κοινωνικά μέσα

επικοινωνίας σαν ένα μέσο ψυχικού εκφοβισμού και

παρενόχλησης για άλλους μαθητές του σχολείου.

Είναι πολύ σημαντικό οι γονείς να επιβλέπουν το πώς

χρησιμοποιούν τα παιδιά τους το διαδίκτυο, διότι τα

παιδιά του δημοτικού είναι πολύ μικρά για να

αντιληφθούν τις επιπτώσεις της κακής χρήσης του

διαδικτύου. Τα ίδια παιδιά μπορεί να γίνουν θύματα

όσων εκμεταλλεύονται τα παιδιά που χρησιμοποιούν

το διαδίκτυο χωρίς την επίβλεψη των γονιών τους. Σε

αυτούς τους χαλεπούς καιρούς, παρακαλώ όλους τους

γονείς να επιβλέπουν πάντα παιδιά τους και να

επιβεβαιώνονται ότι τα παιδιά τους χρησιμοποιούν το

διαδίκτυο σωστά.

Τελετή αποφοίτηση του Νηπιαγωγείου-Τρίτη

4 Δεκεμβρίου Οι γονείς και κηδεμόνες των μαθητών του

Νηπιαγωγείου προσκαλούνται στην Τελετή

αποφοίτησης του Νηπιαγωγείου, την Τρίτη 4

Δεκεμβρίου στις 9:00πμ στην πτέρυγα Παναγιώτη

Θεοφίλου του καινούργιου κτιρίου. Στην τελετή αυτή,

οι μαθητές του Νηπιαγωγείου θα συνοδεύονται από

τα Φιλαράκια της Στ’ Δημοτικού και θα λάβουν τα

πιστοποιητικά τους. Επίσης οι μαθητές θα

παρουσιάσουν το θεατρικό έργο «Η Ξανθούλα».

Εκκλησιαστική Λειτουργία και Θεία

Κοινωνία– Τρίτη 11 Δεκεμβρίου Οι μαθητές του Νηπιαγωγείου-Στ’ Δημοτικού θα

λάβουν μέρος στην τελευταία Θεία Κοινωνία της

σχολικής χρονιάς την Τρίτη 11 Δεκεμβρίου. Παρακαλώ

να προετοιμάσετε κατάλληλα (χωρίς πρωινό) τα

παιδιά σας ώστε να λάβουν τη Θεία Κοινωνία. Αμέσως

μετά τη Θεία Κοινωνία τα παιδιά θα έχουν την

ευκαιρία να φάνε.

Αποφοίτηση του Προνήπιου-Πέμπτη 6

Δεκεμβρίου Οι γονείς και κηδεμόνες των μαθητών του Προνηπίου

προκαλούνται για πρωινό τσάι την Πέμπτη

Δεκεμβρίου στις 9:00πμ στην αίθουσα του Προνηπίου.

Στην τελετή αυτή, οι μαθητές του Προνηπίου θα

λάβουν τα πιστοποιητικά και τα μετάλλιά τους. Επίσης

θα μας διασκεδάσουν με διάφορες παρουσιάσεις. Σας

παρακαλούμε θερμά, να παραβρεθούν μόνο οι γονείς

διότι οι θέσεις μέσα στην αίθουσα είναι

περιορισμένες. Θα προσφερθεί και πρωινό τσάι.

Αποφοίτηση της Στ΄ Δημοτικού– Παρασκευή

7 Δεκεμβρίου Κάθε χρόνο λαμβάνει χώρα η τελετή της αποφοίτησης

της Στ΄ Δημοτικού. Η τελετή αυτή είναι οικογενειακή

και ενθαρρύνουμε όλους τους γονείς να παραβρεθούν

και να γιορτάσουν μαζί μας την αποφοίτηση των

μαθητών της Στ΄ Δημοτικού. Την Παρασκευή 7

Δεκεμβρίου, θα λάβει χώρα το ετήσιο δείπνο της

αποφοίτησης της Στ΄ Δημοτικού από τις 7:00μμ έως τις

11:00μμ στο Himalaya Emporium Function Centre. Το

κόστος της τελετής είναι 55 δολάρια το άτομο. Το

τέλος της Στ’ Δημοτικού αποτελεί ορόσημο για τους

μαθητές μας, οι οποίοι οδεύουν προς το Γυμνάσιο.

Ευελπιστούμε να μοιραστείτε μαζί μας αυτή τη βραδιά

που θα είναι γεμάτη από αναμνήσεις της σχολικής

πορείας των μαθητών της Στ΄ Δημοτικού.

Απονομή Αθλητικών Βραβείων– Δευτέρα 10

Δεκεμβρίου Τη Δευτέρα 10 Δεκεμβρίου στις 1:30μμ. προσκαλούμε

τους γονείς να παραβρεθούν στην απονομή των

αθλητικών βραβείων που θα λάβει χώρα στην πτέρυγα

Παναγιώτη Θεοφίλου του καινούργιου κτιρίου.

(είσοδος μόνο από το East Terrace). Στην τελετή αυτή

θα βραβευτούν τα άριστα αθλητικά επιτεύγματα των

μαθητών. Επίσης, την ίδια μέρα θα δοθούν και

διάφορα άλλα βραβεία στους μαθητές μας. Ελπίζω να

παραβρεθείτε στην απονομή των βραβείων των

μαθητών μας.



Τελετή Απονομής Βραβείων για τους

μαθητές της Γ΄- Στ΄ Δημοτικού- Τρίτη 11

Δεκεμβρίου Προσκαλούμε τους γονείς και κηδεμόνες να

παραβρεθούν στην Ετήσια Απονομή Βραβείων που θα

λάβει χώρα την Τρίτη 11 Δεκεμβρίου, στις 11.00πμ.

στην πτέρυγα Παναγιώτη Θεοφίλου του νέου κτιρίου

(είσοδος μόνο από το East Terrace). Σας έχουμε ήδη

στείλει σχετικό σημείωμα με τα βραβεία που θα

δοθούν την ημέρα αυτή. Ευελπιστούμε να

παραβρεθείτε στην τελετή αυτή. Όσοι γονείς

επιθυμούν να πάρουν τα παιδιά τους στο σπίτι μετά

την Τελετή, μπορούν να το κάνουν αφού υπογράψουν

στη Γραμματεία και ειδοποιήσουν τις δασκάλες.

Τελικοί Καλοκαιρινοί Αθλητικοί

Αγώνες P.S.S.A Συγχαρητήρια στην ομάδα Μικρών Αγοριών του

Μπάσκετμπολ και στην ομάδα Αγοριών του Σόφτμπολ

που κατάφεραν να φτάσουν στους Τελικούς Αγώνες.

Ευχόμαστε και στις δύο ομάδες καλή επιτυχία στους

Τελικούς. Επίσης συγχαίρουμε τις ομάδες Κοριτσιών Τ-

Μπολ και Σόφτομπολ που κατάφεραν να φτάσουν

μέχρι τους Ημιτελικούς Αγώνες.

Εθελοντές Γονείς Θα ήθελα να ευχαριστήσω όλους τους εθελοντές

γονείς που βοήθησαν με τις ομάδες ανάγνωσης ή

πήραν μέρος στις εκδρομές μας. Η βοήθειά σας είναι

ανεκτίμητη. Ευελπιστούμε στην συνεχή υποστήριξή

Α’ Δημοτικού - Δευτέρα 3 Δεκεμβρίου Τη Δευτέρα 3 Δεκεμβρίου, οι μαθητές της Α’

Δημοτικού θα επισκεφθούν το Sydney Aquarium στο

Darling Harbour στα πλαίσια της ενότητας των

Αγγλικών «Κάτω από τη Θάλασσα». Το κόστος της

εκδρομής είναι 40 δολάρια. Οι μαθητές θα πρέπει να

φέρουν μαζί τους ένα μπουκάλι νερό, και

μεσημεριανό. Θα πρέπει να φορούν την καλοκαιρινή

τους αθλητική στολή μαζί με το καπέλο τους. Σε

περίπτωση βροχής η εκδρομή θα πραγματοποιηθεί,

καθώς οι μαθητές θα φέρουν τα αδιάβροχά τους.

Γ΄ και Δ’ Δημοτικού - Τετάρτη 12 Δεκεμβρίου Την Τετάρτη 12 Δεκεμβρίου, οι μαθητές της Γ’ και Δ’

Δημοτικού θα επισκεφθούν το Archie Brothers στο

Alexandria. Το κόστος της εκδρομής είναι 50 δολάρια

και συμπεριλαμβάνει και μεσημεριανό. Οι μαθητές θα

πρέπει να φέρουν μαζί τους πρωινό μαζί με ένα

μπουκάλι νερό. Μεσημεριανό θα προσφερθεί εκεί. Θα

πρέπει να φορούν την καλοκαιρινή τους αθλητική

στολή μαζί με το καπέλο τους. Σε περίπτωση βροχής η

εκδρομή θα πραγματοποιηθεί.

Ε΄ και Στ’ Δημοτικού - Τετάρτη 12

Δεκεμβρίου Την Τετάρτη 6 Δεκεμβρίου, η Ε’ και η Στ’ Δημοτικού θα

επισκεφθούν το Zone Bowling στο Revesby. Το κόστος

της εκδρομής είναι 40 δολάρια. Οι μαθητές θα πρέπει

να φέρουν μαζί τους πρωινό μαζί με ένα μπουκάλι

νερό, και μεσημεριανό. Θα πρέπει να φορούν την

καλοκαιρινή τους αθλητική στολή μαζί με το καπέλο

τους. Σε περίπτωση βροχής η εκδρομή θα

πραγματοποιηθεί.

Η Χρονιά που Ακολουθεί

Καλωσορίζουμε τους νέους μαθητές του

Προνήπιου και Νηπιαγωγείου Την Πέμπτη 31η Ιανουαρίου θα καλωσορίσουμε τους

μαθητές από την Α΄ – Στ΄ Δημοτικού του 2019. Τη

Δευτέρα 4 Φεβρουαρίου θα καλωσορίσουμε τα νέα

μέλη του Σχολείου, τους μαθητές του Προνήπιου και

Νηπιαγωγείου του 2019. Οι μαθητές του

νηπιαγωγείου θα συναντήσουν τη δασκάλα της τάξης

στη νέα Αίθουσα Τελετών του σχολείου στις 9.00πμ.

Σας υπενθυμίζουμε πως το Νηπιαγωγείο σχολάει στις

2.50μμ, από τη Δευτέρα 4 Φεβρουαρίου έως και την

Παρασκευή 15 Φεβρουαρίου 2019. Την πρώτη

εβδομάδα, από τη Δευτέρα 4 Φεβρουαρίου έως την

Παρασκευή 8 Φεβρουαρίου, οι γονείς θα μπορούν να

παραλάβουν τα παιδιά τους από την αίθουσα του

Νηπιαγωγείου.



Στις 4 Φεβρουαρίου θα καλωσορίσουμε τους μαθητές

του Προνήπιου. Οι γονείς θα μπορούν να αφήνουν και

να παραλάβουν τα παιδιά τους από την αίθουσα του

Προνήπιου, που βρίσκεται στον πρώτο όροφο του

Δημοτικού Σχολείου. Ευελπιστούμε να δούμε όλους

τους νέους μας μαθητές και τις οικογένειές τους.

Κατανομή Τάξεων Οι τάξεις για το νέο έτος 2019 βρίσκονται στη

διαδικασία της ανακατανομής. Αυτό θα βοηθήσει την

κοινωνική εξέλιξη των μαθητών και θα τους βοηθήσει

να γνωρίσουν καινούριους φίλους. Με αυτόν τον

τρόπο οι μαθητές θα μπορέσουν να κάνουν μια

καινούρια αρχή στη νέα τους τάξη. Οι τάξεις και οι

δασκάλες των τάξεων θα ανακοινωθούν την πρώτη

μέρα της σχολικής χρονιάς. Σχετικές πληροφορίες θα

δοθούν στην αρχή του Α΄ Σχολικού Τριμήνου του 2019.

Πρόγραμμα Κολύμβησης 2019 Στη διάρκεια του Α΄ Τριμήνου, η Β΄ Δημοτικού θα

λάβει μέρος σε μαθήματα κολύμβησης κάθε Πέμπτη,

ξεκινώντας από την Πέμπτη 7 Φεβρουαρίου. Οι

μαθητές της Γ΄ και Ε΄ Δημοτικού θα λάβουν μέρος σε

ένα Εντατικό Πρόγραμμα Κολύμβησης για δύο

εβδομάδες, ξεκινώντας τη Δευτέρα 4 Φεβρουαρίου.

Περαιτέρω πληροφορίες καθώς και η αίτηση άδειας

θα δοθεί στους μαθητές όταν θα επιστρέψουν πίσω

στο σχολείο το 2019.

Ομάδα Σχολικών Αρχηγών του 2018

Συγχαρητήρια στους επόμενους μαθητές που

εκλέχθηκαν από τους μαθητές και το διδακτικό

προσωπικό για να απαρτίσουν την Ομάδα των

Σχολικών Αρχηγών του 2019. Θα ήθελα να συγχαρώ

την ομάδα Σχολικών Αρχηγών του 2018 που

επιτέλεσαν το καθήκον τους με μεγάλη επιτυχία και

συμπληρωματικών μαθημάτων για το 2019 Το πρόγραμμα ομάδων συμπληρωματικών

μαθημάτων θα συνεχιστεί και στη διάρκεια του 2019.

Οι μαθητές θα έχουν την ευκαιρία να συμμετέχουν σε

Προνήπιο, Νηπιαγωγείο-Β΄ Δημοτικού Παρακαλούμε να μην ξοδεύεται τα χρήματά σας σε

ακριβά μολύβια ή γόμες. Να προτιμάτε τα απλά

σχολικά είδη, σκεπτόμενοι επίσης πως στη διάρκεια

του χρόνου μπορεί και να χαθούν. Τα τετράδια και τα

βιβλία θα σταλθούν στο σπίτι για να καλυφθούν με

Τα τετράδια των μαθητών της Γ΄ -Στ΄ Δημοτικού δε θα

πρέπει να καλύπτονται. Το σχολείο έχει παραγγείλει

πλαστικά καλύμματα προστασίας των τετραδίων που

μπορείτε να αγοράσετε στην αρχή της χρονιάς έναντι

15 δολαρίων. Τα παλιά τετράδια θα αντικαθιστούνται

από καινούρια τετράδια με καινούργια όταν γεμίσουν.

Δεν θα πρέπει να συρράπτονται τα παλιά με τα

καινούρια τετράδια. Μην αγοράζετε τετράδια του

τύπου Α4 γιατί δεν θα χωρέσουν στα πλαστικά

καλύμματα. Ο αριθμός των σελίδων του κάθε

τετραδίου είναι ενδεικτικός και εξαρτάται από το

μάθημα. Μπορείτε λοιπόν να αγοράζεται τετράδια

που έχουν περίπου τον ίδιο αριθμό σελίδων.

Νεα Του Γυμνασιου Κατασκήνωση της Γ΄ Γυμνασίου Η Γ΄ Γυμνασίου θα λάβει μέρος στην κατασκήνωση στο

«Camp Toukley» από τη Δευτέρα 3 Δεκεμβρίου έως

την Τετάρτη 5 Δεκεμβρίου. Τους ευχόμεθα να

περάσουν ευχάριστα.

ΘΕΙΑ ΚΟΙΝΩΝΙΑ Την Δευτέρα 10 Δεκεμβρίου θα έχουμε εκκλησιασμό

για όλους τους μαθητές. Οι μαθητές ενθαρρύνονται να

προετοιμαστούν κατάλληλα για να έχουν την ευκαιρία

να μεταλάβουν.

ΑΠΟΝΟΜΗ ΒΡΑΒΕΙΩΝ Ο Διευθυντής και οι καθηγητές του Κολλεγίου

προσκαλούν τους γονείς/κηδεμόνες, μαθητές και

φίλους στην ετήσια βραδιά Απονομής Βραβείων. Η

βραδιά έχει οργανωθεί για την Τετάρτη 12

Δεκεμβρίου, ώρα 6.30μ.μ. στην αίθουσα του

σχολείου. Η Απονομή Βραβείων είναι μια σημαντική

βραδιά γιατί δίνεται η ευκαιρία στους μαθητές να

βραβευτούν για τις ακαδημαϊκές ικανότητές τους. Οι

μαθητές πρέπει να παρευρεθούν με την σχολική στολή

τους. Επίσης, στο τέλος της βραδιάς θα δοθούν οι

έλεγχοι στους μαθητές. Συγχαρητήρια σε όλους τους

μαθητές.

Συνταγματικό Συνέδριο των Σχολείων της

Ν.Ν. Ουαλίας (NSW School Constitutional

Convention 2019) Μετά από τη συμμετοχή του στο Συνταγματικό

Συνέδριο των Σχολείων Νέας Νότιας Ουαλίας 2019, ο

Παναγιώτης Ευρυπίδου (3ης Λυκείου) είχε την τύχη να

εκλεγεί στην ομάδα που θα συμμετάσχει στο Εθνικό

Συνέδριο, που θα διεξαχθεί στην Καμπέρα από τις 19

μέχρι 21 Μαρτίου του 2019. Συγχαρητήρια στον

Παναγιώτη για την επιτυχία του και του ευχόμαστε

καλή τύχη σ΄ αυτή την εκπαιδευτική και πολύτιμη

εμπειρία.
