Time to get ready for our only major fundraiser in our parish. St. Clement invites all of your families and friends to enjoy a weekend of fun filled with game booths, prizes for children, food booths, and live entertainment on stage.

Safe Environment Training Attention All Volunteers in the Church! All volunteers need to complete the Safe Environment Train-ing by October 31, 2015. This is mandatory for all of volun-teers. Even if you did the training last year you still need to do it. The diocese mandates parishes to be in compliance in a 3 year cycle. This year is St. Clement’s year.

All training is now only done online. Volunteers need to:

1) Go to www.shieldthevulnerable.org and complete one of the courses.

2) After completion of the course, print out a copy of the certificate, write your name, address, phone number, and e-mail on the certificate.

3) Turn in a copy of your certificate along with your $8 dona-tion to the parish office.

(You do not need to pay online to complete the course, However, St. Clement is charged $8 for each person that takes the course. We ask for a donation to help offset these costs. )

Adult Bible Study: Adult Bible Study will begin in Saturday, October 3. Classes are held ever other Satur-day for two hours, 9am—11am in the Parish Center and will last for six months. The first 2 months will be on the Old Testament, and the last 4 months on the New Testament and the Early Church. Classes are conducted by Brother Knights Harry Herman, MA Theology, and Simon Medrano. The first day of class is man-datory for everyone to be enrolled in the program. SERVANT Sometimes the hour and the person meet. Some-times, when a task or mission is set upon our shoulders, we know we must meet our responsibilities and we are ready. These are heady and invigorating times. The first reading and the Gospel proclamation today are intimate glimpses of a commencement, an inauguration of a chal-

lenging future. In both readings, a sense of gravity prevails. The first reading is from the mysterious Servant Songs from the book of Isaiah. The person is steadfast and brave. His courage and bravery are not located in his stout heart, but in God. We are reminded, “The Lord God opens my ear that I may hear” (Isaiah 50:4), so

the servant understands the mission. And twice, “The Lord God is my help” (50:7, 9), so that the servant can endure the coming struggle. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

EL SIERVO A veces la persona y la hora se encuentran. A veces, cuando han puesto en nuestros brazos una tarea o misión, sabemos que debemos cumplir esa responsabili-dad, y estamos listos. Esos son momentos de gran entu-siasmo y energía. La primera lectura y la proclamación del Evangelio de hoy nos permiten vislumbrar íntima-mente el comienzo, la inauguración de un futuro desa-fiante. Las dos lecturas mantienen un sentido de serie-dad. La primera lectura viene del misterioso Cántico del Siervo del libro de Isaías. La persona es firme y va-liente. Su valentía y fortaleza no se fundan en su corazón sino en Dios. Se nos recuerda: “El Señor Dios me ha hecho oír sus palabras” (Isaías 50:4), para que el siervo comprenda la misión.
