REDEMPTION Do you remember Peter on the night Jesus was arrested? He claimed he had never heard of Jesus. Today we are called to join Peter in testifying to the name of Jesus as he does in the first reading, and in proclaiming our love for him as Peter does in the Gospel passage. The powerful imagery of John’s vision in the second reading from the book of Revelation shows us the company we keep when we have faith in the name of Jesus. We join all liv- ing creatures, “countless in number” from “heaven, earth, under the earth, in the sea; every- thing in the universe” (Revelation 5:11, 13). The dignity and majesty described in each reading are in stark contrast to the dark and pitiful image of Peter and the other apostles at the time of Jesus’ arrest, trial, and crucifixion. What a relief that we can all be redeemed so completely! Welcome to St. Clare Catholic Community Our warmest welcome to all who celebrate with us. How may we serve you? If you would like to have your child baptized, have your marriage blessed in the church, have a Eucharistic minister visit someone who is ill, or have general questions, please call the Parish Office at: (661)252-3353. We are open Monday from 1:30 to 5pm and

P ARISH REGISTRATION forms are available in the front vestibule, side entrances of the church, and at

the parish office during regular office hours. In order for our priests to better serve you, especially at the time of baptism, marriage, or a funeral, it is most helpful if you are registered and participating in our parish community.

M ARRIAGE: The bride and/or groom must be registered and actively participating in the parish

for at least three months. Then, a six-month preparation program is required. Please call the office for further information.

H OSPITAL/HOME, HOLY COMMUNION, AND SICK VISITS: For Holy Communion, please contact the

parish office during office hours. A Priest or Eucharistic Minister will visit you and attend to your needs. In case of hospitalization, please inform the admissions office that you are Catholic, so that they will be able to notify us. In case of an emergency or death in the family, a priest can be reached 24 hours a day. Call the parish office number anytime for an emergency pager number.

We have Adoration in the Chapel every Friday from 9:30am to 7:15pm. On First Friday

Adoration lasts throughout the night. Our lives are so busy, we could all use a little quiet

time with our Lord. Don’t just squeeze Him in, make your time with Him a priority.

Feed it Forward Pope Francis teaches us that “Even the weakest and most vulnerable, the sick, the old, the unborn and the poor, are masterpieces of God’s creation, made in his own image, destined to live for ever, and deserving of the utmost reverence and respect.” With respect for our homeless brothers and sisters, St. Clare’s is joining other faith communities in the SCV to provide meals at the Bridge to Home Shelter after it closes in early April. We are in need of volunteers to help prepare and serve meals twice a month on Thursday evenings. Please prayerfully consider this most fulfilling service. Pornography Addiction?

Most men who struggle with pornography suffer silently while it destroys their life. They think, "There is no way I can tell anyone about this - especially in church." and so they sit in church week after week withering away in secret shame. Porn use is addictive and progressive, and it destroys men and their families. The sad part is that most wait until they get caught and the consequences catch up to them before reaching out for help.

In the battle against lust, isolation is death! Keeping the prob-lem inside only keeps the man in bondage. We need others to help us in this battle. If you struggle with this problem, we have a safe place for you to meet with other men who struggle with the same issues.

For more information, please call Chris at 661-993-1322. (For reasons of confidentiality, information about this group will only be given to those men who seek to join)

ACCW Los Angeles Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women Cordially invites ALL women of the Los Angeles Archdiocese to attend the 12th Annual Mass honoring Mother Mary at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels. Come and celebrate sisterhood and motherhood. (The ACCW has a “Prayer for Priests” Calendar for April. They ask that you join them in praying for the priest of the day. If you would like a copy of that calendar—we have them in the parish office.)

Do you keep thinking about your “spring cleaning” project? Are your treasures starting to look more

like white elephants? Well—here is the good news. We are going to give you a time and a place to

donate those treasures! Our Mission Circle will be collecting for their

White Elephant sale the beginning of June—the sale is scheduled for June 4 & 5.

They will start collecting here on June 3rd.

Religious Education News Third Sunday of Easter – John 21: 1-19

Simon Peter was given the task of tending God’s sheep and today’s church continues to tend to the people of God. However, are we making ourselves available to lead and be led? Do we open our hearts, eyes and minds to the call to join God’s mission on earth and bring other “lost” sheep into the fold by tending to the needs of others? Today is the Ministry Fair. What a wonderful way to explore the various ways we may tend to the needs of our community and get involved! Let’s make it a goal to be like Simon Peter and answer God’s call. Upcoming Dates to Remember…

—Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copyright © J.
