Maternity Unit Tours Who: Expectant Parents (children are not able to

attend tours) Cost: FREE Group tour of the Maternity Pavilion includes labor/delivery rooms, postpartum, nursery and neonatal unit. (Before registering, check your other classes to see if a tour is included.)

Childbirth Preparation Class Who: Expectant Parents Cost: FREE for Mothers/Coaches delivering at

St. Charles Hospital 1, 2 or 3 Sessions — $99 (for those not delivering at St. Charles)Class is taught by a registered nurse, certified childbirth educators. Topics include diet, exercise, relaxation and Lamaze techniques as well as what to expect when expecting.

C-Section Who: Expectant Parents Cost: Free for Mothers/Coaches delivering at

St. Charles Hospital Two Hour Class — $25 (for those not delivery at St. Charles)Recommended for all expectant parents – not just for those with scheduled c-sections. Topics include indications for c-section delivery, coaches’ role, anesthesia options, pain management and recovery.

Newborn Parenting 101Who: Expectant Parents Cost: Three Hour Class — $30 Topics include: what to expect during your hospital stay, postpartum care, signs/symptoms of postpartum depression, newborn appearance and senses, preventing SIDS and shaken baby syndrome, basic baby safety and car seat safety, bathing, umbilical cord and circumcision care, breastfeeding, swaddling, diapering and more.

Art of Breastfeeding Who: Expectant Parents Cost: Two Hour Class — $25 A comprehensive course taught by an internationally board certified lactation consultant. Learn valuable information to assure a successful and gratifying breastfeeding experience.

Daddy Boot Camp Who: For Dads–to-be, Dads, Grandfathers

Cost: Two Hour Class — $25 per person

Topics include: “Where Do I Start”, understanding the new Mom, icky topics (diapers, spit-up, etc.), sleeping/feeding, emergencies, visitors/relatives, date night, future planning, enjoying your baby and more. Provides a forum for men to address and explore questions and concerns. Male instructor is a registered nurse and father.

“Mommy’s Helper” Sibling ClassWho: Children age 3 and older Cost: $25 for 1st child — $5 each additional child Parents attend with their child and help create a keepsake card welcoming baby into the family. Children practice baby care and safety issues with a doll. Highlight is a trip to the nursery to see the newborns!

Breastfeeding Mother’s GroupWho: Mothers with infants in arms

(up to one year of age) Cost: Free A weekly informal drop-in group facilitated by an international board certified consultant to support breastfeeding mothers. Mothers enjoy sharing experiences and educating one another. Please call Eileen LaManna, RNC, IBCLC at (631) 476-5572.

Health & Wellness ProgramDiabetes Education Center Who: Individuals diagnosed with Type 1 or

Type 2 Diabetes An experienced team of certified diabetes educators including dietitians, nurses and psychologists, teach individuals with diabetes how to take the steps necessary to control this very serious disease. Most insurance providers cover the cost of diabetes education, including Medicare.

Diabetes Prevention Program This free program is led by a trained Lifestyle Coach and meets one hour per week for 16 weeks, followed by 8 monthly follow-up sessions. The sessions cover healthy eating, physical activity, and lifestyle changes to help participants achieve the goals that lead to the prevention or delay of a diabetes diagnosis.
