    Year of Faith

    You Choose: Fear or Faith

In the third chapter of his best-selling book, The PurposeDriven Life, Rick Warren asks the question, What Drives YourLife? He then suggests five things which drive most peopleslives: Guilt, anger/resentment, fear, materialism, and the needfor the approval of others. We could all likely come up withother answers but this is a good start. The authors point, ofcourse, is that it would be far wiser to let our lives be driven byGods purpose. Similarly, the scriptures today invite us to let

our faith be the driving force in our lives.

Abraham earned the title Father of Faith because, as theLetter to the Hebrews tells us, he decided that the promiseGod made to him was worthy of his trust! What have youdecided about the promises of God? How you answer thatquestion will determine whether or not you will wait around forthose promises to be fulfilled. Walking by faith is reallymastering the art of waiting for God to come through foryou in every circumstance; stubbornly refusing to give upon God no matter what happens or what things seem. Belike those who awaited the Masters return Jesus says. Inother words, be like those who never stop expecting God tointervene! Be like those who never stop expecting God to turntrials into triumphs, vice into victory, adversity into teachingmoments, set-backs into set-ups for opportunities for fargreater than ever thought possible!

Do not be afraid any longer, little flock! Jesus insists!Notice he says, any longer. Before him, we had every reasonto be fearful, doubtful, and hopeless. We had lots of reasonsto be led by your fears. But at some point each person needsto come to the realization that fear is a terrible navigator for

your life! Its time to let the Good Shepherd lead you to the lifehe always wanted you to have; a life of meaning andsignificance. A life where the previously impossible becameactually accessible. Dont let your fears steal away thepossibilities of your life. If fear is your chauffer it is time to fireyour driver!
