Parish Mission Statement We, the parish family of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church welcome all, young and old, active or inactive, committed
or alienated, to enrich their lives by joining and participating in our faith community. We seek to reflect the light of Jesus
Christ by reaching out to serve all, and by sharing our joy and hope, as we continue our faith journey. May our lives,
inspired by the Holy Spirit, and nourished by the Eucharist, bear witness to our love for neighbors near and far.

Extremely Low-Gluten Hosts:
Over the years we have provided extremely low-gluten hosts for
parishioners who are gluten intolerant or have Celiac disease.
These special hosts are made by a group of Benedictine sisters in
the mid-west.
"The Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Clyde,
Missouri, have made Vatican-approved, low-gluten altar breads
since 2004. These breads have been tested by independent
laboratories and deemed safe for use for most people with Celiac
Sprue Disease.
The Benedictine Sisters are the largest religious producers of altar
breads in the United States, making almost 9 million hosts each
month. The low-gluten breads are produced in a separate facility
in order to prevent cross-contamination. The low gluten breads
are made from water and wheat starch that has had most of the
gluten removed.
In 2004, Dr. Alessio Fasano, director of the Center for Celiac
Research at the University of Maryland, maintained that the
amount of gluten contained in one of our low-gluten altar breads
(tested at <.01%) was so minute a celiac sufferer would have to
consume 270 wafers daily in order to reach the danger point. A
test done in 2016 indicated the gluten content was less
than .001%.”
If you are gluten intolerant, or have Celiac Sprue disease, at every
Mass the priest will hold a small container with the extremely low
-gluten hosts in it. If you choose, as you approach the priest
during Communion simply let him know you need the low-gluten
host. You can come up at any point during the distribution of
Holy Communion. In other words, you don’t need to be first or
last in line. You can sit wherever you are comfortable, and simply
come forward when it is your row / pew's turn to receive.
Any questions or suggestions about the above, please see Father
Michael.
