St. Anthony of Padua Feast Day Mass
SFO Breakfast with Tom
SFOs gathered after Saturday
7/2 SFO mass at Emily’s for
breakfast to greet Tom during
his visit to Minnesota.
Fr. Anthony had just sung Hap-
py Birthday in Italian to Emily
who was going to celebrate
her birthday on the 4th. Tom
is currently serving as Minister
in his new fraternity and keep-
ing busy with helping people
with their computer problems.
Tom also joined other Francis-
cans while in Minnesota.
We cele-
brated the
Feast of St.
Anthony of
Padua Mon-
day, June
13th with
mass cele-
brated by
Fr. Anthony;
followed by
a reception
with many
guests in
the back of the Church. Thank you to
all those who assisted with setup,
mass, hosting and cleanup. And
thanks most especially to Fr. Anthony
for making the celebration special and
for Kent and Heather for their beautiful
music.

Guest Column - submitted by Tim:
“Likewise, the Spirit also helps our infirmity. For, we know not
what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit himself
asks for us with unspeakable groanings, and he that searches
the hearts knows what the Spirit desires: because he asks for
the saints according to God. And we know that to them that
love God all things work together unto good: to such as, ac-
cording to his purpose, are called to be saints.” Romans, 8.
“We are spouses when by the Holy Ghost the faithful soul is united to
Jesus Christ.” St. Francis of Assisi
What do we need? What should we do? Why is this happen-
ing to me? What do we pray for?
I ask myself these questions all the time, as I am sure most
others do as well. I find myself lately doing it more and more,
especially as I get older and closer to retirement, as the job
security I once had is rapidly disappearing, and as I see mem-
bers of my family and community struggle with sickness,
death, financial difficulties, and just generally dealing with all
of the problems of life.
I don’t have the answers, but I think St. Paul had some pretty
good insights, and so did St. Francis. When everything around
you seems to be going wrong, when the world just seems as
though things can’t get much worse, we know that by uniting
ourselves to Jesus Christ and the saints, in our actions, in our
thoughts and in our prayers, we are uniting to each other in
faithful community and fraternity. We do not face the trou-
bles of the world alone, because the Holy Spirit bonds us to-
gether with the saints and our prayers are presented before
God. We have to trust that all things work for the good accord-
ing to His purpose, and that what we need to do is become the
saints that we are called to be.
So be encouraged, even in these
days of discouragement. Don’t
be burdened by the constant
drum of those who tell you that
you must do this and you must do
that. You don’t love enough, you
don’t recycle enough, you don’t
care for immigrants, you don’t
care for the poor, you don’t drive
a car that gets good enough gas
mileage, you don’t give enough to
this charity and that church. You
don’t belong to the right political
party and you don’t care enough about creation. Be calm, be
at peace, and let the Holy Spirit of God take our prayers to the
throne of the Most High, and open yourself up to the grace
that comes from our love for Jesus, and all things will work
together according to His purpose. And give a word of encour-
agement to one another. We need it.

News from Browns Valley Fraternity:
We certainly were in for a treat being invited to the Browns Val-
ley fraternity meeting on July 10th. They rolled out the red car-
pet for Carol, Tammy and I and invited us to a wonderful meal
of lasagna made by Dennis and fabulous dishes brought by all
the members of the fraternity. The extra special treat of the day
was Father David Breu, the brand new two-week Pastor of the
Brown’s Valley Church, took the time out of his very busy two-
church schedule to come, meet, greet and pray with us (see
photo above).
Tammy, Minister St Anthony of Padua Mpls, shared congratula-
tions concerning the very exciting upcoming celebration of the
canonical establishment of the Browns Valley fraternity.

Anthony of Padua, Browns Valley Fraternity (3 members
missing) including a fabulous potluck after Sunday morn-
ing mass .
The members of the fraternity shared how the Holy Spirit is
working in their fraternity and the surrounding towns, states
and community. They described their prayer service held the
prior Wednesday and the presentation of two prayer shawls
from their fraternity to ill members of the Browns Valley com-
munity, which is one of their out-reach missions.
We could not be happier and thanking God more for the many
blessings he has poured out on His very faithful Franciscan
community being established in Browns Valley MN!
Know that you remain in our thoughts and prayers as you
move towards the day of establishment and you have our com-
plete support. Congratulations!!!

This calendar lists one friar and one fraternity member each day.
Those from the St. Anthony of Padua forming group in Browns
Valley (BV) have been added. Please remember them in your
prayers that day. The Secular Franciscan Order and the whole
Church are strengthened when God blesses any Franciscan.
“Oh holy Father, protect them with your name whom you gave me out of the world. I entrusted to them the message you entrusted to me and they received it. They have known that in truth I came from you, they have believed that it was you who sent me. For these I pray, not
for the world. Bless and consecrate them, and I consecrate myself for their sakes. I do not pray for them alone; I pray also for those who
will believe in me through their word that they may be holy by being one as we are. And I desire, Father, to have them in my company where I am to see this glory of mine in your kingdom.” (Jesus as quoted in the Prologue to the Rule of the Secular Franciscan Order.)
