DO NOT LEAVE PURSES, CELL PHONES OR ANY VALUABLES IN PEWS WHEN LEAVING YOUR SEAT AT ANY TIME. CHILD SAFETY: Parents, grandparents, guardians: Please accompany all children to the restroom at all times while in the Church. EMERGENCY EXITS: Did you know that there are two emergency exits on each side of the altar? Just go up to the altar rail. Don’t cross the altar rail. Walk to your left or to your right and you will see the exits. Please be vigilant. If you see something, say something to the ushers. St. Anthony of Padua parish in East Northport continues to work with the Suffolk County Police department on improving security in our church.

SCAM ALERT! SCAM ALERT! SCAM ALERT!!! SCAM ALERT!!! Several parishioners have told me that a request for money was made via email by a person using my name with a bogus email address. In other instances parishioners were sent a text message, supposedly from me, requesting that they purchase gift cards because “Father Joseph” wanted them for patients battling cancer and he wasn’t able to do it. In this situation “Father Joseph” asked the parishioners/volunteers to buy gift cards, scratch the back of the cards exposing the PIN numbers and then text the picture of the cards with the PIN numbers back to him. I would like to make you aware that these are fraudulent requests. If you receive an email or text of this type, please note that IT IS A SCAM for money and should be deleted immediately and reported to the FBI. The FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) will take complaints at the FBI website, www.IC3.gov. Thank you, Fr. Joe Mirro .

they can sing with the Psalmist, “The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy!”

TRINITY SUNDAY -CYCLE C- JUNE 16, 2019

This Sunday we celebrate the solemnity of Trinity. God is so big that today we use His full, long name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. One God in three persons. God is a triune [three in one] God. "Tri" meaning three, and "Unity" meaning one, Tri+Unity = Trin-ity. The Bible reveals to us that God, Creator and Jesus and Spirit are all one. They share the same message and power and love. He is so amazing that today we remind ourselves that none of us can ever fully, totally know all there is to know about God.

We often use objects to talk about the Trinity: shamrocks with three leaves; the triangle, the pretzel, a tricycle has 3 wheels. The Mystery of the Holy Trinity is the Mystery of God’s Love. We live in this Love, the Love of the Father who creates and sustains us, the Love of the Son, the Merciful One, who became

one of us and who overflows with compassion and the love the Spirit, the One whose presence within us gives us the ability to love ourselves and others as God loves. When a family becomes a school of virtue and community of love, it is an image of the loving communion of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It is then an icon of the Trinity.

The Sign of the Cross: A Profoundly Trinitarian Prayer In the name of the Father who created me, and of the Son, Jesus, who loves me,

and of the Holy Spirit who makes me Holy.

Dear God, Thank you for being my Father, Thank you for the Trinity, Thank you for taking care of me through my Daddy, I love you, God! Thanks for loving me, In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Dear St. Anthony of Padua Altar Servers, Permit me to take this opportunity to thank all of you, your parents and families, and our dedicated altar server committee for the time and sacrifices invested in this ministry for the service of our loving God and our parish community. It has been a special blessing serving with you in the five years that I have spent in this wonderful parish community. I am deeply grateful to you and your parents for your cooperation. Watching you grow in faith and service of our beloved parish has changed my life in many ways. Please keep this great light of love for the faith and Church burning. It will inspire many people’s love for God and church. Many of you are aware that I will be returning to Uganda this summer. I will miss serving with you, but you will always be in my prayers. Van drivers needed! It requires one shift per week (8:30-12) or (12-3:30/4). There is always a driver and assistant. Driving is between East Northport and Huntington to West, Commack to South, Smith-town (limited) to East. NO CDL required, the van only holds 6 people. We have a wheelchair lift as well. Please call for more info and application.

The Heavenly Stitchers KNITTING MINISTRY ladies meet every Wednesday, at Parish Outreach, from 1-3 pm to do Compassionate knitting for those in need. Please join us! Special thanks to the family who recently donated a huge amount of yarn to the Knitting Ministry. It felt like Christmas morning for 15 ladies, as they admired all your beautiful treasures. For starters, some of the yarn will be transformed into baby blankets for the July baby shower. The blue yarn will turn into kids hats for the bullying awareness campaign.

We received a letter from a grateful van rider: Dear Parish Outreach Coordinator: Many thanks to you and staff for making it possible for me to see my doctors. The drivers and helpers were wonderful, kind, and caring. In March at my Cardiologist, the nurse asked who these men are? I told her they are the “best” volunteers from St. Anthony of Padua Outreach. May God Bless you all!

In honor of veterans in need of housing, we are collecting bedding items for the United Veterans Beacon House. This organization houses about 900 veterans a year and they have about 300 beds. They are in need of new twin comforters, sheets, and new pillows. They can also use ground coffee and gift cards to stores for food, Target or Kohl’s (for clothing). Please drop off your donations by June 28th. Thank you in ad-vance, and God bless!

Thank You to our

Generous Community

The Society of SVDP would like to extend our deepest gratitude to our wonderful community in all their dona-tions throughout the years… We thank all our individual parishioners for their con-stant donations of food items and holiday items. We thank all our Scout Troops, Religion Classes, School Groups, and Ministry Groups for your constant support. We thank our terrific Youth Group under Joe’s guidance for their help all year and especially the Superbowl Fundraiser of $1990.33. We thank Northport High School’s Students for 60,000 for their unbelievable fundraising programs, mostly, The Shanty Project, where the students sleep in cardboard boxes overnight to simulate the homeless. SVDP was one of their benefactors with a tremendous $9000.00 donation. We thank our Jewish friends from Temple Beth David. The Isaiah 58 Committee under the direction of Jane Gaines has supported our SVDP Food Pantry for over 6 years. We are so very grateful for their most needed help. Every month they purchase bulk items from BJ’s through our specific requests and it is delivered by their committee member Holly Wohl. Their mission is to assist and feed the needy in our community, which echoes the mission of the Society of SVDP. How enormous! We are all children of God, adhering to His words in coming together to help our brothers and sisters in need. The Society of SVDP thanks each and every person for their ongoing support… helping us help others!!

I have made to God the offering you made to me of your heart and have asked Him to unite mine with yours in that of Our Lord. Vincent de Paul

Our Next Morning for Miracles Thursday, June 20, after the 9:00 AM Mass

Rectory Meeting Room “Don’t tell me you’re ‘burned out’ unless you were once on fire!” words of wisdom, proclaimed long ago by an elderly Dominican Sister (complete with Irish brogue). Listening to Matthew Kelly last night reminded me of Sister Rose. This Australian has much in common with my old friend. Neither of them pull any punches, stat-ing Truth whether you want to hear it or not. And both are firm believers in miracles through the powers of love and trust. Once Rosie told me, “Sister, get on the path of prayer when you’re young or you’ll fall in a ditch when you’re old!” And Kelly: “People were made to be loved, things to be used. Don’t fall into the trap of lov-ing things and using people!” I’m hoping those who attend our Miracle Meeting on June 20 will tell of transformations that have occurred in their own lives, through the influence of parents, peers, and sometimes, children (or a nun who will never be forgotten). These are the moments we don’t often express lightly to many, yet we all benefit from sharing them. ~Sister Dorothy

Eucharistic Ministers!!

There is presently an URGENT NEED for Eucharistic Ministers to bring the Holy Eucharist to the patients at Huntington Hospital! St. Anthony’s Church is committed to this ministry each Thursday—this means volunteering for only one Thursday every four weeks. Please consider your precious opportunity to love and serve Jesus in “His most distressing disguise”! EMs who have done this ministry in the past would be most welcomed. Please contact Regina Whitaker at 631-757-7028.

“Feed My Lambs” is the weekly request of the SVDP society to parishioners to bring to Church the one or two items of which the Food Pantry is in low supply.

This week’s items are: Rice & rice sides, Coffee, Tea, Small cans of diced tomatoes and tomato sauce, Solid white tuna fish. Of course any other items you wish to donate will be gratefully accepted, but the items that we are concentrating on will help us ensure that these items will be in supply for our clients. All items can be left in the rear of the Church before and after all weekend Masses. During the week, items can be brought to Parish Outreach, between the hours of 10:00AM and 2:00 PM. Thank you for helping us minister to the lambs of our community who are in need.

Please do not leave perishable items, opened items, clothing items, household items in the Vestibule Food Bin. Thank you!
