Franne and her husband, Jack, have been members of St. Anthony Mission Catholic Church for 12 years. They love the friendly, intimate feeling of a small church. Jack serves as an Usher. Franne's duties include being one of the Sat-urday night vigil Mass (5 pm) Sacristans, Eucharistic Minis-ter, and Lector. She has the important job of making up the schedules and training others for these duties. Franne also helps out in the Parish Office with posting the weekly contributions. She has also served on the Pastoral Coun-cil. Franne states that "being involved in things at church has been most gratifying in that I feel so much more an in-formed participant ...."

LOS SIETE SANTOS FUNDADORES DE LA ORDEN DE LOS SIERVOS DE MARÍA

La fiesta litúrgica de hoy honra a los siete santos fundado-res de la Orden de los Siervos de Santa María Virgen cu-yos nombres eran: Alejo, Amadeo, Hugo, Benito, Bartolo-mé, Gerardino y Juan; un grupo de comerciantes que re-nunciaron a la vida de negocios, dejaron lo necesario para sus familias, repartieron lo demás entre los pobres y se dedicaron por entero a la veneración de María Virgen, yéndose a vivir a una montaña italiana y posteriormente, asumiendo una vida ermitaña, esto es, de oración, ayuno extremo y penitencia. Tiempo después, a petición del de-legado del Sumo Pontífice, todos, excepto uno, se orde-nan sacerdotes. El hermano Alejo, por considerar el sa-cerdocio como algo muy grande para él, decide permane-cer como hermano. La Congregación fue aprobada en 1304 y la fiesta litúrgica se enmarca el día de hoy, precisa-mente porque en este día murió el último de ellos, el her-mano Alejo, de quienes los jóvenes novicios escucharon el testimonio de santidad que dio de sus compañeros así como de su vida misma. —Miguel Arias, Copyright © J. Thursday 2/19/20 9am For our military A possible new ministry at St. Antho-ny is making rosaries. The commit-ment is usually an hour or so once a week. We could meet one morning a week in the Family Life Center. Once the rosaries are made either a deacon or priests blesses them and then they are sent to our Armed Forces and throughout the world. If interested in starting this ministry, please give Karen a call!

Congratulations to the JPII Literary Meet team that participated in this year's SCISA Literary Meet which took place at the Orangeburg-Calhoun Tech-nical College on January 31. One of the event's highlights, besides our stu-dents impressive individual achievements, was the middle school team winning a trophy for Best Over-all in the Middle School Division for collectively scoring the most points.
