There is something about God - nothing is impossible for Him and He creates miracles daily all around us. You might have already asked yourself, "Where is God in all of this? Why can't I feel His presence right now? Why does He feel so far away? It feels like we're all alone in this." Even though you might not see Him working or feel Him near, He is still making a way for us. God wants us to depend on Him more than ever before. We might have lost our focus and forgot what really matters in our life - God. We have all been caught up in all of these temporary items in this world that aren't even our home. Living on earth is even temporary. This life we live is temporary. It can be taken from us in a flash. God knows exactly what He is doing and it's the fact that He allowed this situation to happen globally. Faustina for being such a faithful witness for the world.

Message from the desk of the Pastor……..

My dear people of God,

“Unless I see, I will not believe.”

The Church puts before us the deeply moving encounter between Christ and Thomas, his doubting disciple. Thomas was a man of little

faith.

During life, faith is an on-going struggle and there are moments of crisis when our minds are darkened and our vision of God is blurred by

clouds of doubt. There is nothing comfortable about believing as it challenges us to change our lives as a result of our encounter with Jesus.

The Risen Christ is present in our midst as much as he was with the early Christians and we are called to live our lives in his name. It is

through believing that we enter into a relationship with Christ and enjoy the new life which he offers us.

When Thomas recognized his Master, he believed and exclaimed that Jesus was truly Lord and truly God. Through the gift of faith we,

too, proclaim that Jesus is our personal Lord and our God. He died and rose that we, too, might have new life in him. The Lord offers each

of us new life in his Holy Spirit that we may know him personally and walk in this new way of life through the power of his resurrection.

Do you believe in the good news of the Gospel and in the power of the Holy Spirit to bring you new life, hope and joy?

Lord Jesus Christ, through your victory over sin and death you have overcome all the powers of sin and darkness.

Help us to draw to you and to trust in your life giving word.

Fill us with your Holy Spirit and strengthen our faith in your promises and our hope in the power of your Resurrection?

May God bless you.

Sincerely in Christ,

Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston Prayer in the Time of the Coronavirus

Comfort us, O Lord, for we are like your dis-

ciples on the storm tossed seas, unsettled by

what lies ahead. We turn to You, our Healer

and Guide, To still our hearts in our time of

need and hear our prayer: Heal those whose

are sick with the coronavirus and protect the

elderly and most vulnerable. Give strength to

all who tend to our health and wisdom to re-

searchers who work toward a cure. Open our

eyes and hearts, as you did during Hurricane

Harvey, that we may look beyond our

immediate needs to care for others who need

help. Through the Holy Spirit, guide our lead-

ers to make wise decisions for the welfare of

all the people they serve. Grant eternal rest to

those who have died from the virus.

May Mary, Our Mother, who has heard our

pleas in the storms of our lives,

Intercede to her Son, that we may find healing

and a prompt end to this illness.

Mary, Star of the Sea, pray for us.

Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior, heal us.

At this time in our lives and in what the world is dealing with, we are all struggling with the unknown. Keeping our distance. Wearing our masks. Working from home. Losing jobs, being on furlough, hours cut. Worrying about fi-nances / food. Staying isolated. Sad is -- we miss our kids and grandchildren, family and friends. Keeping in touch on the telephone, Facebook, Skype, mail, drop offs at the door is becoming so much more meaningful these days. Having access to the internet has never been so important. When you have access and then don’t have access be-cause of issues you realize how your life comes to a stop, especially when your job, schooling or having to work from home relies on the internet. Going and sitting in a parking lot at McDonald’s or Starbucks or wherever that of-fers free internet becomes your outing. Coupons for Restaurants become a cheap date and family outing. Old games of the past are making a comeback. Husbands and wives, along with their children being homeschooled and working together are finding it enjoyable or difficult. Families are praying more as a “family”. God is coming back into our Nation. At home we avoid the news. If you continue to keep up with what the media is putting out there will only upset you. Most of it is not true or the words are changed. I avoid most of those stories because if you really re-searched you would find out that there is always more to the story then told.

The devil still thrives big time. You can feel it in the air. Please keep the St. Michael prayer going.

A lot of churches, whether Catholic or Non-Catholic are Livestreaming masses.

St. Anthony’s Parish Family is so blessed to have the technology for Parishioners to participate in Mass. First we started with Jason Peltier, working with Daryl and Deacon getting the mass Livestreamed through Facebook. Then Daryl and Deacon took off with that and due to parishioners not being on or wanting to join Facebook, Daryl was able to Livestream the Mass on the Churches Website. From there Daryl has figured out how to put the words to the music and prayer on the screen so everyone who is participating in Mass can join in at home and feel part of the mass. We are so blessed with technology. We know that there are parishioners who still can’t be there with us. Just remember you are “remembered” at mass and in our daily prayers. For those who do not have the internet, Sunday on TV – channel 57 – there is a Catholic Mass.

Generosity is everywhere at this time. You see it on TV or hear it on the radio. But Joseph’s Nursery in Manvel sent an email to all Churches, and for all that Livestreamed for Easter, that they had Easter Lilies to give away. So we took advantage of this. With the situation we did have Lilies ordered but canceled. Then when we decided to Livestream, it’s like: “where are we going to find flowers”? God provides. Then Diane from “A Family Flower Shop” volunteered her time in helping Anne Starr with the decorating. Pam Peltier made the beautiful Altar Cloth. We want to thank Carol Peltier, Liturgy Coordinator, for working with Fr. Joseph and Deacon Gerald through the Holy Week and into Easter. We were so blessed with the beautiful music by Evelyn Boeker and Ron Barker and the Lectors. Thank you Laura Davenport for working with RCIA. We look forward to the day when these and all Candidates will be welcomed into the Church. Please continue to pray for them to hold strong to their faith and all of us in our faith. To trust and never lose that trust in the Lord. Thank you to all the behind the scene people. It’s amazing with so few people a Livestream Mass can be so beautiful and make you feel that God hasn’t left you or your Church. A time to absorb your faith. To knee and be grateful we can still be open in our faith. We look for-ward to that day when we can all come together and receive the Lord in the Eucharist.

Fr. Joseph is still doing his own private mass during the week. [not open to the public] The Church Office is opened but the hours are iffy. Please call ahead. The Church phone is forwarded to my phone so calls will not be missed. The doors to the Church are opened daily 9am to 4pm. We are trying to stay up with Parishioners. We are missing our Daily Mass people. Missing our daily routines. Life is different for all of us as we attempt to make our day as normal as we can. And guess what….. toilet paper won’t get you to heaven, but it will clean up your mess that

you leave behind just a haha!!!!

While we are separated during these difficult times, let us remain unified in faith and prayer. Let our hope be high. Let joy reign in our hearts. Let our praise for the Lord fill the air. Let us reflect where we are in this journey with God. We are all Essential in God’s eyes and to our families.
