Message from the desk of the Pastor…..

    My dear people of God,

The Holy Family helps to guide us and to give us strength.

Today is Holy Family Sunday. On this Sunday each year the Church calls our attention to the Holy Family of Bethlehem. In that Holy Family we see the model of all families. Mary and Joseph cared deeply for each other. We see Joseph trying to hide Mary and Jesus from those who wanted to harm them. In Jesus we see a child who respected and loved Mary and Joseph.

We are reminded today on the importance of the human family. Today, we live in a society that does not uphold the sanctity of marriage nor the sanctity of life itself. Perhaps things were not all that different during the time of Christ’s childhood. In his public life as an infant, the Holy Family had to flee to Egypt because Herod ordered all male infants to be killed. It was with a selfless love that Joseph took Mary and Jesus and fled.

Let this Sunday serve to remind us of our obligations which flow from being disciples of Jesus. We must always cherish our human family and do all in our power to strive for peace in the home. Let spouses love and cherish one another. Let brothers and sisters live in peace with each other. Let us always honor, love and cherish our parents, living and deceased. What begins in our own hearts spreads to our homes and is witnessed in our personal worlds and it can spread to others. The Catholic Church has always upheld the importance and key role that families play in this world. The home is the first school of love and fidelity. It is up to you and to me to see that our homes are in fact the school of love.

May Jesus , Mary and Joseph guide you to the peace which you seek and which the world needs so desperately.

    Sincerely yours in Christ,

    Fr. Joseph

St. Anthony’s would like to thank all who donated towards the Christmas Flowers. Also we wish to thank all who came Tuesday and helped with the decorating of the Church.

There were new ideas and with the Live Stream, the focus had to be main-ly on the front of the Church. As we keep saying…. This is not a normal year. But hope-fully we will end with a joyous and beautiful Christmas, whether you and your family had your Christmas, or are still celebrating. Actually the Christmas Season ends on the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord, celebrated, Sunday, Jan-uary 3, 2021.

Thank you to Alicia Karbowski and granddaughter, Ellie, Ace Filipp, Pam Peltier, Anne and Steve Starr, Carol Peltier, Reese Ryan, Carson Filipp, Jake Karbowski and Max Kro-schel. They were all a blessing making baby Jesus be wel-comed on Christmas Eve.

Let’s pray for Our Nation, Family, Parish, Sick, Dying, the youth, this virus to end, jobs, military, .....etc.

Let us be grateful for all we have. All the blessings seen and unseen. Thank you . What is Eucharistic Adoration? Eucharistic Adoration is adoring the True Presence of our Lord Jesus Christ - his Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity - in the Holy Eucharist. Because we believe that Christ is truly made present in the consecration of the Eucharist, we give the Blessed Sacrament the same honor and reverence accorded to Christ himself. “Could you not watch one hour with me?” – Matthew 26:40 St. Alphonsus Liguori wrote: “Of all devotions, that of adoring Jesus in the Blessed Sac-rament is the greatest after the Sacraments, the one dearest to God and the one most help-ful to us. The Eucharist is a priceless treasure: By not only celebrating the Eucharist, but also praying before It outside of Mass, we are enabled to make contact with the very wellsprings of Grace…” What is a Holy Hour? A Holy Hour is the devotion of spending an hour in Eucharistic Adoration. Mother The-resa of Calcutta made a Holy Hour every day and encouraged others to follow her exam-ple. One may obtain a plenary indulgence for making a Holy Hour. What does one do during a Holy Hour? During a Holy Hour, one simply contemplates the mystery of the Word made flesh (John 1:14). It is said that when the 19th century French priest, St. Jean Vianney, was asked what he said to Jesus in Eucharist Adoration, he replied, “Nothing, I look at Him and He looks at me.” The following prayers and devotions may help spark contemplation or conversation with Christ:

    Feast of the Holy Innocents—Dec 28, 2020

“A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weep-ing for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.” During this octave of Christmas the Church celebrates the memory of the small children of the neighborhood of Bethlehem put to death by Herod. Sacrificed by a wicked monarch, these innocent lives bear witness to Christ who was persecuted from the time of His birth by a world which would not receive Him. It is Christ Himself who is at stake in this mass-murder of the children; already the choice, for or against Him, is put clear-ly before men. But the persecutors are powerless, for Christ came to per-form a work of salvation that nothing can prevent; when He fell into the hands of His enemies at the time chosen by God it was to redeem the world by His own Blood. Our Christmas joy is tempered today by a feeling of sadness. But the Church looks principally to the glory of the children, of these innocent victims, whom she shows us in heaven following the Lamb wherever He goes. Feast of the Holy Innocents The Holy Innocents saved the Child Jesus from death by King Herod by the shedding of their own blood. The Holy Innocents are the special pa-trons of small children, who can please the Christ Child by being obedient and helpful to parents, and by sharing their toys and loving their siblings and playmates. The feast of the Holy Innocents is an excellent time for parents to inaugu-rate the custom of blessing their children. From the Ritual comes the form which we use on solemn occasions, such as First Communion. But parents can simply sign a cross on the child's forehead with the right thumb dipped in holy water and say: May God bless you, and may He be the Guardian of your heart and mind—the Father, + Son, and Holy Spirit.

    Amen.

Pro-Life: An unborn baby has its own DNA, its own genetic code, its own blood type. The child has its own functioning brain, its own functioning kidneys, and its own functioning lungs. The baby even has its own dreams. It is not the woman’s body; the baby is only residing in her body. That mother and the law have a duty to protect the life of the pre-born.
