Message from the desk of the Pastor

My dear people of God,

We celebrate the central mystery of our faith as we begin this Holy Week. The Church focuses our attention on the last week of our Lord’s earthly life. As we begin this solemn week, let us each walk with Christ from Palm Sunday to the joy of Easter, the great feast of the Resurrec-tion.

Today we stand with Christ as he is greeted as the Messiah. The crowds that came out to see him were enthusiastic and joyful. I wonder what our Lord was thinking when he witnessed this acknowledgment. The great number of people, the greetings, the acknowledgment that he was the Christ; yet, many of these same people would stand in the Roman Courtyard on Friday and shout: “Crucify him!” Many would watch him on his way to Calvary. They may have felt sorrow at the sight, but they would do nothing. Most would not have given a second thought at the sight of the three crosses.

This is our great season of grace. As lovers of Christ, we are invited to worship our Lord and express our faith and love to him. I pray that each of us will take full advantage of the graces of Christ that await us.

Let us truly stand with Christ from the Lord’s Supper of Holy Thursday through the Triduum and the Good Friday service to the joy of Easter. There cannot be an Easter Sunday without a Good Friday. May our faith lead us to the Christ who constantly calls us back to himself.

God bless you.

Sincerely yours in Christ, Fr. Joseph

God of community and love, there are many times when we are too quick to abandon Christ on the cross. Like those disciples who feared for their lives, things great and small cause us to fear for ours. Help us to see the two sides of your Son’s passion, the love and suffering that Jesus reveals to us, models for us, calls us to live. Open our eyes to the truest meaning of bearing the name Christ, so that we too may strive to love as you love, while embracing the suffering that such true love entails. We offer our gratitude for the community

formed that day beside the cross: formed out of great love, formed amid great suffering. We make this prayer in your name. Amen.

Not my will, but Yours be done.—Luke 22:42

This Bible verse makes me think that it is really saying, "I can't change the situation or protect people who don't want to change for the better,

it's not for me to worry about. God knows what He is doing and I fully trust in Him, His Will Be Done." Do you think that too where it's really out of our control and we have to let God step in and finish what He has started? This is honestly hard for me to do at times and God has given lesson after lesson, all of them hit me like a ton of bricks! I'm slowly realizing that there are things that are totally out of my con-trol, even though I wish I could make it better and change things, but we don't have the power to do so. Have you ever experienced that before where you know someone is hurting and you do everything you can to help "save" them, but then they don't want your help?? It can be challenging at times to let go and let God! Let's be real, there are things that we can't control: Other people's actions, the way they treat you, and the choices they decide to make. I know, it hurts to realize that there are things that are totally out of our control and we have to trust God's judgment - He will lead us out of whatever it may be. In the end, God’s Will be done. Please listen to the song “Give It All” by Blanca. "Nothing can hold me back. It's all in Your control. Nothing can hold me down, I'm letting go. I'mma give You all my troubles. I'mma give you all my worries. All my fearing, all my struggles. I'mma give You all my failures. I know

only You can solve them.” Kylie

Pro-Life: Would you be “Pro-Choice” if choice meant someone had a right to choose to kill you? It’s actual-ly pretty easy to be “pro-choice” as long as you’re not the one being chosen to die. Babies have no choice and have no voice in this matter. We must be their voice-speak out in defense of life.

Our daughter works at an Assistant Living Facility. There is a gentleman there who is dying and with Hospice. One of the ladies was going to visit him and our daughter told her he is Catholic and maybe see if he wants a priest to come. So the lady visits this gen-tleman. His eyes are closed. She calls him by name, talks to him and then asks if he wants her to call a priest. Well this gentle-man’s eyes open wide and he responds no. Later one of the caregivers takes this gentle-man some soup to eat. They are just talking and the gentleman tells her about the lady that stopped by earlier. He couldn’t under-stand why she asked him if he wanted her to call the police. He was hard of hearing. Funny but sad situation. In the back of the church are cards to carry in your purse or wallet “I am Catholic, call a Priest” and on the back side a prayer to pray. I have been handing these out especially to the hard of hearing. But all in all, if you have a loved one who is dying, Catholic and needs the Last Rite Anointing, please call a priest. It can make the person more as ease. This gentleman was afraid of dying alone. So they had someone come and sit with him. Maybe that is something you might want to volun-teer to do. Sad to be by yourself and no one there and have to die alone. Think about it.

Prayer after Communion

Soul of Christ, sanctify me. Body of Christ, save me.

Blood of Christ, inebriate me. Water from the side of Christ,

wash me. Passion of Christ, strengthen me.

O Good Jesus, hear me. Within Thy wounds hide me. Suffer me not to be separated

from thee. From the malignant enemy

defend me. In the hour of my death call me.

And bid me come unto Thee, That with all Thy saints,

I may praise thee Forever and ever.

Amen.
