GOOD SEEDS Today Jesus continues to speak to his followers using par-

ables. What a rich treasure we are given today in three par-

ables about the kingdom of heaven! The kingdom is lik-

ened to a man sowing good seed in his field, a mustard

seed, and yeast mixed with flour. As they did last week,

today the disciples press Jesus for an interpretation of one

of the parables—the parable of the man sowing good seed.

Lest we think that these parables are simply amusing little

anecdotes, Jesus’ interpretation should be seen for what it

is—a warning. Wailing and grinding of teeth in a fiery fur-

nace await those who are children of the evil one. This par-

able points to the struggle for today’s believer. Sometimes,

through sin, we sow weeds and prevent the love of Christ

from blossoming. Let today’s Gospel help put us back on

track. Let us recommit ourselves to preparing for the last

days, the harvest, by blossoming as the good seeds we were

created in love to be. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Stuck at the bottom, yet easily flies.

Present in sun, but not in rain,

Doing no harm, and feeling no pain.

What is it?

What 8 letter word can have a letter taken away and

it still makes a word. Take another letter away and

it still makes a word. Keep on doing that until you

have one letter left. What is the word?

God’s Beloved of St. Anthony’s and

beyond,

I love you … each one who - wanted

to but couldn’t, and those who could

and did, came to my retirement cele-

bration parade! My church Staff

friends and whole family who invited and then set up; daugh-

ter Renee Buse for the memory video on YouTube and

goodie bags. What “heart melting fun” Also to all who ever

helped me in any way in the ministries (especially you co-

directors, catechists, Pastors, food bringers, etc) for prayers

along the way, for teaching me, sharing your faith and strug-

gles, letting me have a place in your heart. For your patience!

For the cards filled with the kindest words! For the many

bouquets of flowers (I now have a garden in my home!) The

different bags and bars of chocolate - delicious caloric love

that may have you seeing more of me The variety of beauti-

ful, spirit-lifting gifts, (even one from heaven - Thanks Ade-

line!)

For the ‘air hugs’, your infectious smiles, those unexpected

tears in the cars (!) kisses safely blown at me, waves, honks,

signs of gratitude on buildings and cars, the ‘gas and trip

money’ (gracious and generous!) The texts of appreciation,

the phone calls and social media posts.

OH MY! Overwhelmed by God’s

Love, you are truly the definition of

Jesus’ disciples, and Good News for

me and the kingdom!

From the desk of our pastor, Father Tony Neusch.

This week I challenge you to make the psalm refrain part of your spiritual DNA, “Lord, you are good and

forgiving.” Make these six words a part of every fiber of your being. Knit them into your bones. Let them take up

residence in the deepest parts of your guts. They are the words that the Christian in the present age, must make their

own. I used to believe that people don’t go to confession, because they don’t think that they sin. I don’t believe this

anymore. People don’t ask for forgiveness of their sins, because they don’t believe God has the power or desire to

forgive them.

Jesus’ message is simple, “Repent and believe the Good News.” And the Good News, is that God desires

reconciliation with His people. God desires his chosen people to return to full communion, and does absolutely eve-

rything possible to make this happen, everything except to force His people to receive His gifts. The Psalm refrain

succinctly places this on our plate. God is Good, He doesn’t coerce. God is forgiving, He desires reconciliation.

“Lord, you are good and forgiving.”
