Fr. Ariel Ramirez, C.M., Parochial Vicar / Vicario Parroquial Hoy celebramos la Ascensión. Como decimos en el Credo, Jesús "subió al cielo y está sentado a la derecha del Padre." Hemos explorado lo que es ser discípulo - alguien que escucha a Jesús y lo sigue. Un discípulo acepta esta seguri-dad: "Yo soy la vid y ustedes los sarmientos." "Como el Padre me ha amado así los amo yo." Junto con esta seguri-dad viene una exigencia: "Permanezcan en mí. Permanezcan en mi amor. Si guardas mis mandamientos permanece-rás en mi amor." Un discípulo sabe que lo que importa al final - permanecer en Jesús. En la Fiesta de la Ascensión vemos que pertenecemos a una historia - el drama de la historia humana que llega al triunfo de Jesús. Como sus discípulos, tú y yo tenemos un papel en esa historia. En la fiesta de la Ascensión vislumbramos como termina el cuento. La próxima semana sabremos como empieza.

No te lo pierdas. Es un buen cuento - y tú eres parte de él. Les invito a ponerse bajo la autoridad de Jesús, ser sus discípulos. El No va a quitar todo tu dolor y tus preguntas. Pero te dará un papel en su gran drama - sin ti no será el mismo cuento. Amen. Today we celebrate the Ascension. As we say in the Profession of Faith, Jesus "ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father." We have been exploring what it is to be a disciple - someone who listens to Jesus and follows him. A disciple accepts Jesus' assurance: "I am the vine and you are the branches." "As the Father loves me so I love you." Along with that blessed assurance, a disciple recognizes requirements: "Remain in me. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments you will remain in my love." A disciple knows what ultimately matters - to remain in Jesus. On the Feast of the Ascension we see that we belong to a story - the drama of human history that climaxes in Jesus' triumph. As his disci-ples you and I have a part in that story. On today's feast we glimpse how the story ends. Next week we will see how it begins. Don't miss it. It's a darn good story - and you are called to be part of it. I invite you to place yourself under Jesus' authority, become his disciple. He won't take away all your pain and questioning. But he will give you a part in the great drama - without you it won't be the same story. Amen.

In a world torn apart by persecution, war, and oppression, three children in Fatima, Portugal, were chosen by God to offer an urgent message of hope to the world. Based on the memoirs of the oldest seer, Lucia Santos, and many thousands of independent

eye-witness accounts, The 13th Day dramatizes the true story of three young shepherds who experienced six apparitions of Our Lady between May and October 1917, which culminated in the final prophesied Miracle of the Sun on October 13. Abducted from their homes, thrown into prison, and interrogated under the threat of death in the government’s attempt to silence them, the children remained true to their story about the crucial messages from Mary of prayer, repentance, and conversion for the world. Our Lady gave a secret to the children told in three parts, from a harrowing vision of hell, to prophetic warnings of future events including the advent and timing of the Second World War, the spread of Communism, and the attempted assassination of the Pope.

En un mundo destrozado por persecución, gue-rra y opresión , tres niños en Fátima, Portugal, fueron elegidos por Dios para ofrecer al mundo un mensaje urgente de esperanza. $50 registration fee per family AND $50 volunteer fee Installment payments can be made thru the office over the summer. Registration is required before August 31st, even if registration pay-ment cannot be made at this time.

ALTAR SERVER PRACTICE / PRÁCTICA DE MONAGILLO

Wednesday, 5/16 after the 6pm mass, there will be Altar Server practice. Please sign-up by 5/9, by calling the parish office or signing –up on the sheet provided in the vestibule.

Deacon Keith Higginbotham from our parish will be or-dained a priest on Saturday 5/26/18, 10am at Christ the King Church, everyone is invited to attend. Sunday 5/27/18, Keith will say his thanksgiving mass (bilingual) here at St. Anne parish at 10:30am. This will be the only mass that day.

The theme for the 2018 Bible Institute is: “A Lively Sense of God: Treasuring the Old Testament Witness to God.” Brother John Barker, OFM, will be the keynote speaker. He is a Scripture professor who teaches at Catholic Theological Un-ion in Chicago. This event also includes prayer, small group faith sharing, discussions with the speaker and Mass. It be-gins at 7 p.m. Friday, 6/15 and ends by noon on Sunday, 6/17. The $125 registration fee includes four meals. It does not include housing. Participants may request on-campus housing at St. John Catholic Center at the time of registration. Single occupan-cy is $40 per room, per night and double occupancy is $50 per room, per night. Space is limited with fees by Friday, 6/1. Scholarship requests up to $50 are available. Pre-registration is required. The Bible Institute is sponsored by Little Rock Scripture Study.
