St. Ann Parish Mission Statement We are called by a loving God

to make St. Ann of Lansing a Catholic community of faith. We are a family of diverse people with various ministries: healing the body and spirit, teaching of God and His love,

united in sacraments and prayer, reaching out to the extended community. With God’s revelation of Himself in Scripture as our guide,

we strive to grow in His Spirit and to fulfill the promise of Christ’s Kingdom.

Psalm — Blessed are those who fear the Lord and walk in his ways (Psalm 128) or Psalm 105. Today is Sunday December 31, 2017 and New Year’s Eve. The Responsorial Psalm is, “Blessed are those who fear the Lord and walk in his ways.” (Psalm 128:21-23,4-5) On Monday January 1, we celebrate the Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God. The Responsorial Psalm is, “May God bless us in His mer-cy.” (Psalm 67: 2-3, 5,6,8) “We live on a blue planet that circles around a ball of fire next to a moon that moves the sea and you don't believe in mira-cles?” (Anonymous)

PUNS FOR THE EDUCATED MIND (Author Unknown)

• I thought I saw an eye-doctor on an Alaskan island, but it turned out to be an optical Aleutian.

• No matter how much you push the envelope, it'll still be stationery.

• Two silkworms had a race. They ended up in a tie. • Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like bananas. • Two hats were hanging on a hat rack in the hall-

way. One hat said to the other, “You stay here; I'll go on a head.”

• I wondered why the baseball kept getting bigger. Then it hit me.

• A backward poet writes inverse. • If you jumped off the bridge in Paris, you'd be in

Seine. • Two hydrogen atoms meet. One says, “I've lost my

electron.” The other says, “Are you sure?” The first replies, “Yes, I'm positive.”

• Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly, so they lit a fire in the craft and it sank, proving once again that you can't have your kayak and heat it too.

It's funny because we ask God to change our situation, not knowing He put us in the situation to change us.

God loves you more in a moment than anyone could in a lifetime. Just breathe... Have a blessed week, Happy New Year, and may it be your best ever with Jesus at the center of 2018...

Serving Him Together, Barb A.

Together Let Us Cause God Joy

When a child or grandchild dies―whether an infant, toddler, school aged, teen, or adult―parents mourn and begin a pro-cess of bereavement. It helps to become involved with oth-ers who have experienced something similar. Sharing eases loneliness and allows an expression of grief in an atmos-phere of acceptance and understanding. Grief is a testa-ment to the person who has left us. Love does not end, so we feel the loss for years to come. Coffee & Comfort is a place to share stories, to confide in others who truly under-stand, and to discover hope and healing. We meet on the first Monday of every month. For more information, please contact Lorraine Stephens at 708-895-6700.

Dear Parishioners and Friends,

Last year we raised nearly $28,000 at our inaugu-ral A Night at the Palace, and we are hoping to duplicate that success in 2018. We will return to the Dream Palace in Lynwood, a beautiful ban-quet facility owned by one of our own families. Committees are just now forming, and they are looking for input from all directions to make this the kind of event EVERYONE will want to attend. March may seem like a long way off, but it will be here before we know it. As such, we are ap-pealing to you today for help. Do you own or work for a business that would be willing to make a donation to the event? We are in need of both financial support in the form of sponsorships and auction and raffle prizes. Sponsorships will offset the cost of operating the evening, and your business will be prominently featured on all supporting materials and at the event itself. Auction and raffle prizes can include such items as sports or theater tickets, jewelry, electronics, art, vacation getaways, museum passes, small appliances, gift cards, or even services like per-sonal training, catering, landscaping, tutoring, etc. The possibilities are limitless! Donor forms are available at the Parish Office and will soon be on our websites. FMI, call 708-895-6700. Thank you for your support!
