GOD MOMENTS - PLEASE SHARE WITH US!

The sacred heart of Jesus is oen outwardly displayed in pictures

with vibrant color, crowns and flames allowing us to sense the

divine and uncondional love that comes from God. Our heart is

the life force of each of us so it is no wonder that it is the symbol

of love.

Have you ever heard that someone “has a heart?’” This simple

statement evokes images of mercy, compassion, sympathy, and

understanding so like the divine love of God for all. It is no won-

der that in this pandemic me the ulmate symbol of all that is good is the heart. Throughout the town win-

dows and trees, doors and cars display hearts hearts of love, hearts of gratude, and so much more. So

this week we share some of the hearts being shared for those we want to thank:

If you’d like to share a God Moment, send your pictures, videos or stories to

In this book, the dynamic Catholic speaker Ma,hew Kelly writes about some of his fa-

true joy in the acvies of everyday life. The chapters can be read aloud and discussed

as a family.

Saints led holy lives and are close to God in heaven. We pray to them for protecon

ELENA’S FAVORITE SAINT

Confirmaon Candidate, Elena Gonzalez, shares with

us her story as to why St. Elizabeth of Hungary is her

favorite saint. St. Elizabeth’s story reminds Elena of

both of her grandmothers.

“My grandmother’s name was Elizabeth. She was a

very giving person. She spent much of her free me

volunteering for different organiza ons in our town

and helping out friends and family in need without

expec ng anything in return. My Spanish abuela is

also named Elizabeth. Just like my American grand-

mother, my Spanish abuela volunteers in her

church by teaching CCD, premarital classes, and

volunteering to help those in need.”

Let us pray to the Holy Spirit to fill us with the gis

of wisdom, understanding, knowledge, counsel,

courage, reverence, and awe, so that through study-

ing the saints we are made saints and taught the

meaning of holy living.

Let us remember the following Confirmandi

in our prayers as they are awai'ng the 'me

when they will receive the Sacrament of Con-

firma'on:

WORDS FROM FATHER SCOTT

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The stayathome advisory and suspension of the

public celebraon of Masses and most parish minis-

tries caused by the pandemic forced us to get crea-

ve in finding ways to provide opportunies and re-

sources for you to remain connected to the Church

and your parish and to deepen your faith, religious,

and spiritual lives while you were at home. Most, but

not all, of this creavity involved the use of technolo-

gy email, websites, and social media (primarily Face-

book). I understand that technology, in general, and

social media, in parcular, may not be possible or de-

sirable for some people, but it would not be wise for

us to leave these tools unused in our tool box as we

seek to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and do

our part to form disciples for Him.

It was Pope Saint John Paul II who first used the ex-

pression New Evangelizaon. The word "new" implies

that there was an old evangelizaon! Indeed! The

Church has always been about the work of evangeli-

zaon sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. Pope

Saint John Paul II would idenfy what was "new"

about the evangelizaon of which he spoke when

talking to all the bishops of Lan America in 1983:

"Today evangelizaon must be new in ardor, new in

method, and new in means of expression."

When advisors to Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI sug-

gested starng a YouTube channel, he responded, "I

want to be where the people are." He would later go

on to use a term, perhaps being the first to use it,

the digital connent. If that's where people are living,

we should be there to learn the language and the cul-

ture of the digital connent so to make Christ present

there.

Though Facebook is not everyone's "cup of tea", the

reach of each parish's Facebook page increased great-

ly during the stayathome advisory. During this me,

the St. Mary of the Assumpon Parish Facebook page

went from 516 to 668 "likes" as of May 25, 2020. Dur-

ing that same me, the St. Anthony Parish page went

from 359 to 554 "likes". That means that between the

two parishes, 357 more people are receiving faith

based messages today than were receiving them

about ten weeks ago and that, in total, over 1,200

people are receiving faithbased Facebook messages

from these parishes.

Even when the pandemic is over, the use of technolo-

gy and digital media will remain an important tools

for our mission. Because of that, each parish in the

collaborave is working with Pro Sound Service of

Braintree to install cameras and technology in the

respecve church buildings to allow for easier and

more professional livestreaming of Masses, celebra-

ons of other Sacraments, and prayer services. Think

beyond the pandemic. The family member or friend

who wants to be present for a Funeral, Wedding,

Bapsm, Confirmaon, First Communion, or any oth-

er prayer service in the church, but can't because of

age, health, distance, or any other reason, will be

able to watch it live. Each parish has generous do-

nors who are funding the equipment and installaon

for the livestreaming.

In addion, our parishes will be adding texng to our

communicaon tools when we switch from Constant

Contact to Flocknote. Flocknote is an email and tex-

ng communicaon tool created by faithfilled people

for churches. Flocknote can help us reach more peo-

ple at a moment's noce, oen resulng in higher

a,endance, increased stewardship, and more con-

nected parishes.

I look forward to taking our next steps together as we

connue the gradual and incremental return to a full

schedule of public Masses and ministries in our par-

ishes.

Your brother in Christ,

Fr. Sco,
