Dear Brother Knights,

Another month has come and gone and so much has transpired. I attended the Florida State

Knights of Columbus Convention and was my second time attending such an event. During the event

Council 7131 was awarded 1st Place for membership for our area. It was great to see and took photos

of the event as Fred was so proud to get the award. The best part is that this award may have had

Fred and Nick on the plate, but it was the work of many involved and all the efforts are truly appreciat-

ed.

We have a great summer before us before the work picks up once more with the Knights of Co-

lumbus Council 7131 and look forward to working with many of you taking the council forward as Fred

has and how the PGK’s before him have. My goal is to be as good as or better than those before me

and keep us on the path to the Lords work. I hope to have an even more open mind to the task at

hand and the duties before me. I look forward to the installation of our new officers and once more

having this as we share the event with the other Councils and Assembly.

My phone is there for those who wish to talk with me and for anyone who has a comment on

what we can do , what we should be doing or even if I do something wrong (trust me I may do that

from time to time), I welcome the chance to speak with you. My phone is available 24 hours a day

and you can call anytime you like (but I do turn off the ringer from 9:30pm till 5:00am).

We are soon going to have a new Pastor or Administrator at Saint Andrew Church and we will

give him the same support we gave Father York and before him Father Eddie. I will be looking to have

a meeting to see how the K of C can assist the church and to let them know we are there to help if and

when possible.

Dear Brother Knights; I am sorry to see our Pastor, Father York get transferred. I appreciated the hard work he did in serving this parish. I will particularly miss his sermons. He took the time to explain the reading of the day in very understandable terms. Going to a Mass with Father York was like attending a Bible study class. I learned so much in the short time he was here and I wish him well in his new assignment. Brothers please remember that the oath that we took vowed support for our Parish Priest. We should not hold them up to judgment or to criticize them. We are members of their team support them in their holy mission in providing charitable support to those in need and to support them by being active Disciples of Christ. By setting an appropriate example for each other we will be showing the members of the Parish that we are serious practical Catholics and we will always strive to have a closer relationship with our father. I am looking forward to meet the new Pastor and now pledge my total support to his mis-sion. I have faith in Bishop Dwayne and the Diocese of Venice. I hope in this approaching new Columbian year that you each do some self-reflection and see how you can become a more active participant in the Knights of Columbus. Working as a team and wearing the Armor of God we can accomplish so much more than any of us can imagine. “Be strong in the Lord and His mighty power” Ephesians 6:10 Jesus loves you and so do I. Brother Knights;

I would like to congratulate all those on the membership committee for the hard work they do. As you all know we are number 1 in the state and we have a trophy to show for it. As my first full year as Financial Secretary comes to an end I have a lot to be thankful for. We have 282 members we had a 24 new members this year. We should be collecting our second Star Council award this year. The great majority of our members paid their dues and contributed with all the other assignments. Speaking on the financial side we were able to donate and help a lot of people and organizations. We implemented some changes in our way of doing things to be more in line with the Supreme and the State Council bylaws. I know changes are not easy but they must be done in order to get the awards like the trophy we received. For those of you that helped implement the changes I thank you. I'm looking forward to the upcoming year it should be even better than this previous year. We will be making more changes and implementing new programs like “Habitat for Humanity” Remember we cannot do it alone we need your help. As summer comes around think of new things we could do. Everybody is capable of having a great idea but if you don't share the idea it's not an idea at all. Lastly your invoice for dues will be going out on June 15th. District Deputy Nick Cioffi

My Brother Knights:

This is my last message as your District Deputy. As of July l, I will be stepping down, and my Travelling Warden, Bob Guillery will be replacing me. Bob is going out as Grand Knight of St. Katherine Drexel Council #11177. I am confident that Bob will do an outstanding job.

On Friday, May 23 thru Sunday, May 25, our GK Fred Corelli, DGK Tom Senatore and myself attended this year’s State Convention in Orlando. The Convention was well-attended with delegates from the State of Florida. We elected all new State Officers for the coming Columbian Year. It was a great Convention led by our outgoing State Deputy, Paul Koppie. The new State Deputy is Don Goolesby. Don is the outgoing State Secretary. I’m sure he will be a great State Deputy. Fred, Tom and I had an enjoyable time mostly because our Council won lst Place for the most gain in membership in the state of Florida for the 2013-2014 Columbian Year. Fred and I received a beautiful trophy. Job well done by our Recruiting Team.

On Thursday, June 25, I will be hosting my last District Meeting @ 3501 Del Prado Blvd. on the Third Floor Training Room. At this meeting, we will be going over items that our State and Supreme Councils are requiring for the next Columbian Year. Also, at this meeting, I will be turning the gavel over to our new District Deputy. Everyone is invited to attend this important meeting.

Dates for Upcoming Degrees

Monday, June 8, a first degree will be held at St. Katherine Drexel Council at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, June 17, a second degree will be held at St. Leo’s Council at 7 p.m. Your attendance at these degrees will show support to our new Brothers.

Our next Business Mtg. will be the Election of Officers, so please try to attend.

It was a pleasure for me to serve as your District Deputy for this past year.
