Fr. Dariusz’s Installation as Pastor

Next Sunday, June 28th, at the 10:30 am Mass Father Dariusz will be installed as only the fourth Pastor of St. Ambrose Church. From the moment he arrived here on September 29th, 2011 he has lovingly and selflessly served us as our Associate Pastor. He served under Fr. Dalton for 8 years and was a great help and comforting presence to him during his valiant battle with cancer. Over the past 8 years Fr. Dariusz has blessed us all with his warmth and caring way, his loving spiritual guidance, and his wonderful sense of humor. It was extremely hard to say goodbye to Fr. Dalton and no one could ever replace him, but God has certainly blessed us by sending us Fr. Dariusz. Father was appointed Administrator a year and a half ago and our hope and prayer was always that Archbishop Wenski would bless us by appointing Fr. Dariusz our Pastor. Well, that joyful day is finally here. Archbishop Wenski will celebrate the Mass of Installation for Father Dariusz at the 10:30 am mass at St. Ambrose Church on Sunday the 28th. During this time of quarantine there is only room for 150 parishioners in the Church for his special mass. The rest of us can participate by watching the mass streamed over the internet. Just because we cannot be present in person, we certainly can offer up our prayers and good wishes for him on this very important day in his life as a Priest. It would also be very appropriate to congratulate him with a card or greeting sent to him at the Rectory if you cannot be present in person. In closing, we ask God to bless Father Dariusz with His abundance of grace and protect and strengthen him as he becomes our new Pastor. We are all so very excited and happy for him and want him to know he has our undying love, friendship, and support as he leads and nourishes us in our Faith in the years to come.

Message from Fr. Dariusz Welcome to St. Ambrose—we are so happy that you could join us today to celebrate the Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time. There is a good reason that the writings of St. Paul don’t show up as examples in grammar text-books. Today’s reading is a case in point. It begins with one of those long Pauline run on sentences that leave lectors gasping for breath. So what? Take a closer look at how Paul’s fervor for his subject matter derails the grammar. There is something admirable about being so caught up in his convictions that the words cannot come fast enough to express them, much less in an orderly fashion. Scripture scholars usually take this grammatical ineptness as a sign of a passage’s early importance in the Christian community, something they were so ardent about that their language never got refined. What leaves us in this condition? Re-telling the plot line of an action movie or the play-by-play of a sporting event? When was the last time any of us was so excited by our faith in Christ that we were left grasping for words, stumbling over our own errors in speech? It may be bad grammar, but it is an excellent way to inspire others with the message of Christ!

Have a wonderful week—stay well. Please keep me in your prayers as you all are always in mine.

Pastor’s Musing Sixteen-year–old Jimmy had just received his driver’s license. To celebrate, the whole family trooped out to the driveway and climbed into the car for his inaugural drive. Dad immediately headed to the back seat, directly behind the newly minted driver. “I’ll bet you’re back there to get a change of scenery after all those months of sitting in the front seat teaching me how to drive,” said the beaming boy to his old man. “Nope,” came dad’s reply, “I’m gonna sit back here and kick the back of your seat while you drive, just like you have been doing to me for the past sixteen years.”

Knights of Columbus Promote Silver Rose in Honor of Life and Our Lady of Guadalupe

A silver rose on a nine-month pilgrimage will be the centerpiece of a Mass and special prayer service at 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, at St. Ambrose Church. The devotion is promoted by Knights of Columbus Council 4955 to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe and express both international unity and dedication to the sanctity of human life.

The journey of the silver rose begins each year in March and ends on Dec. 12, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. During that time, Silver Roses travel from town to town along eight routes throughout North America. Several of those routes begin in Canada and end in Mexico. One route ends in Washington, D.C., and another ends at St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, CT, where the Knights of Columbus was founded. The Silver Rose Program began in 1960. Today, due to the popularity of the program throughout North America, eight silver roses travel unique routes.

“As we think in terms of One Life, One Rose, it is most appropriate that we turn to Our Lady of Guadalupe who made known her will through Juan Diego and the miracle of the roses,” said Supreme Knight Carl Anderson. “It is to the Blessed Mother that we turn in prayer as we work to end the Culture of Death that grips our society.”

Council 4955 is one of 17,000 Knights of Columbus councils that make up the world’s largest Catholic fraternal service organization. Founded in 1882 to assist working-class and immigrant Catholics in the United States, today the approxi-mately two million members of the Knights put their faith into action through a broad range of charitable causes locally, nationally and internationally through financial contributions and hands-on service.
