Sri.Oommen Chandy, former Chief Minister of Kerala inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp. During his inaugural address, he said that autonomous status to St.Albert's College is the recognition of its meritorious service to the weaker sections of society, especially in and around the city of Kochi. St. Albert's upholds its academic excellency for seven decades and imparted quality education to the people of Kerala, he opined. Mr. Ooomeen Chandy said that by achieving Autonomy, St. Albert's rose to the status of best educational institutions of the country. His Grace Dr. Francis Kallarackal, the Metropolitan Arch Bishop of Verapoly, during his presidential address described the sacrifice made by the Latin Catholic community in the development of the State of Kerala. He expressed his overwhelming joy on bestowing autonomy to St. Albert's college. The Day is commemorated by planting ceremonial sapling by His Grace Dr. Francis Kallarackal. Dr. A. Ramachandran, Vice-Chancellor, Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies, Kochi, formally declared Autonomous Status to St. Albert's College. During his Key Note Address, Dr. Ramachandran stressed upon the need for quality improvement in higher education in Kerala. Very Rev. Msgr. Mathew Elanjimittam, Vicar General, Archdiocese of Verapoly, Prof. K. V. Thomas MP, Mr. S. Sharma MLA offered felicitations. Earlier, Rev. Fr. Antony Arackal, Manager, St. Albert's College welcome the gathering. During his introductory speech, our Principal Dr. M. L. Joseph told that the Management of the college is determined to uplift the quality of higher education and the employability skills of the students of St. Albert's College. Dr. Sadanandan, Vice- Principal of the college proposed the vote of thanks. Rev. Fr. Christy David Pathiala, Asst. Manager, St. Albert's College, administered the student prayer to the freshers. Professor, AIM, was the Resource Person in the Induction Course for newly Recruited/Promoted Inspectors of Central Excise organized by the National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics on 13 th May 2016. The topic was 'Stress Management and Positive Attitude.' 3. Ms. Indu George, Asst. Professor, AIM, has participated in the Two Day Workshop on Case Teaching held at the School of Management Studies, CUSAT, on 20 th and 21 st May 2016. The 3-day programme was organized with the objective of fine-tuning the employability competencies with respect to effective soft skills so that it compliments with the institution's core strength in academic excellence. The learning methodologies addressed all aspects of corporate expectations, positive attitude, team work, leadership, workplace etiquette, resume building, aptitude test, group discussion, personal interview, etc. in order to facilitate better student performance in campus recruitments. Mock Interview and GD sessions facilitated all the student participants to gain more insight about their present capabilities and rooms for further improvement. The closing ceremony was held on 20 June in the presence of Dr. Rajagopala Nair (Director) and Mr. Gopesh CR (Asst. Professor / Placement Coordinator). The active participants were given away certificates; and 8 students - Mr. Filjo, Ms. Sujana, Ms. Feby, Ms. Anjali, Aneeza, Ms. Thanchy, Ms. Maria and Ms. Nagma- got recognized with a Medal for their outstanding performance during the training course. 4-day New Batch Orientation Program - Mpower @ AIM A IM hosted an Orientation Programme titled 'Mpower' for its new batch (2016-2018) in association with 'Vertical Eye' - a popular Training & Development organization based at Nilgiris. The learning methodologies addressed all aspects of corporate expectations, thus facilitating higher placement in campus recruitments, and also to build skills of the students to achieve peak performance in all aspects of their career and life. The programme was started on 22 June with the Welcome Address by Dr. Rajagopala Nair (Director, AIM) and an Introductory talk by Mr. Gopesh CR (Asst. Professor / Placement Coordinator, AIM). The class was divided into groups and they were taken through numerous activities by the resource persons in terms of ice breaking for blasting the mind blocks and removing the limiting beliefs of the students. Then the participants were made aware of various barriers to effective communication, emphasis on spoken English, tips to improve the presentation and public speaking skills and importance of having appropriate body language in effective communication. The program also focused on building qualities of a successful management professional, positive attitude, leadership, team work, confidence building, reading, resume building, etc. using methodologies like Group activities, Management Games, Theatre based experiential learning, and Role plays. All the participants were felicitated with a Certificate; and 7 students (Ms. Shrerin Ann Thomas, Ms. Reny Vargheses, Mr. Ajay Thomas, Ms. Fredy Mathews, Ms. Susmitha P. G., Ms. Athira T. V. and Mr. Leo Fernandez) were recognized with a Medal for their outstanding performance in the Learning & Development programme.

'Nouvo Inizio' -Inauguration of 2016-18 MBA Batch @ AIM'Nouvo Inizio', the traditional welcome to the new batch

of MBA Programme at Albertian Institute ofManagement, Kochi was held on 21st June 2016. Very Rev.Msgr. Mathew Elanjimittam, Vicar General, Archdiocese ofVerapoly was the Chief Guest. Msgr.Mathew Elanjimittamin his inaugural address invoked the students with 'CHAI'principles to be imbibed by them. 'C' stands for curiosity,'H' stands for humility, 'A' stands for adaptability and 'I' forindustrious. When you are humble, you can accept othersand work hard to achieve success, he said. Mr.VenuGopalakrishnan, Founder and CEO, Litmus 7 offeredfelicitations. Mr.Venu said 'when you feel success, you feelgreat', which is a huge motivator to work hard and achievenewer heights. He shared his experiences as a successfulentrepreneur whose turnover is around $20 million andaiming to achieve a target of $140 million by 2020. Dr.Rajagopala Nair, our Director, during his welcome address,said that 'Attitude' and 'Determination' are the key forsuccess. 'There is no unemployment in India, the questionis of Employability', he opined. Dr. M. L. Joseph, Principal,St. Albert's College, in his presidential address said thatevery individual should have a self managementmechanism and it should be a continuous process. Herequested the students to acquire and develop a selfdevelopment scheme. Dr. Rajagopala Nair, our Director,

congratulated Dr. Titus Correya, Professor, AIM on his beingelevated to the position of Vice-Principal ( SF ) of St. Albert'sCollege. He appreciated Dr. Titus Correya for all his sincereservices rendered to AIM. Dr. Titus Correya administeredstudents prayer on the occasion. He also expressed his deepsense of gratitude to all his colleagues who encouragedand supported him in discharging his duties at AIM. Prof.Nidhin Johny, Asst. Prof. AIM, proposed the vote of thanks.

Workshop on 'Effective Entrepreneurship'

The Youth Forum of Kerala Chamber of Commerce andIndustry and the Albertian Institute of Management

jointly organized a workshop on 'EffectiveEntrepreneurship' on 27th June 2016. The workshop wasformally inaugurated by Mr.Deepak Sathyapalan, CEO,Beaumonde The Fern, Kochi. Four successful entrepreneurswho are the office bearers of KCCI shared their experiences,which was really a learning process for our youngsters. Mr.Ajit Ravi, an event manager with par excellence who

organized Miss South India and Miss Queen of India sharedhis life experience and his thought provoking speech was ahuge motivation for our students. Mr. Anoop Venugopalan,Director, Anaswara Offset Pvt. Ltd. told that 'we are thepersons who make ourselves effective and we can canvasour business'. Hitesh Shah, Proprietor, Vardhamaan RetailVentures, explained to the students the risks and challengeshe has faced in achieving success in business.

World Environment Day @ AIM

The Staff and Students of AIM commemorated WorldEnvironment Day on 5th June 2016. Our Director Dr.

Rajagopala Nair planted a Guava Tree in the InstitutePremises. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Nair emphasizedthe importance of saving and protecting Earth. He invoked

the students to take care of Planet Earth so that the cominggeneration may lead a healthy life. He explained theimportance of the magnetic power of earth which iscapable of curing many diseases.

Start-up Mentoring Session @ KSIDC

Third Semester MBA students of AIM along with ourfaculty Prof. Nidhin Johny attended a Start-up

Mentoring Session organized by the Kerala State IndustrialDevelopment Corporation (KSIDC) at Rajagiri BusinessSchool on 14th June 2016. Inaugurating the Programme,Mr. E. P. Jayarajan, Hon'ble Minister for Industries andSports, said that the Govt. would take steps to start andstrengthen the activities of incubation centres in all collegesin the State. Mr. P. H. Kurian IAS, Principal Secretary(Industries) said that the KSIDC has set aside sufficient fundsfor the setting up incubation centres in educationalinstitutions. He said the there are 140 incubation centresin the State. Mrs. Beena IAS, MD, KSIDC revealed that theKSIDC has already extended financial assistance to 35 Start-ups in the State. The mentoring sessions were organized inassociation with TiE Kerala. Discussions were held on thechallenges of Entrepreneurship in Kerala, sources offinancial support and the path transversed by the youngentrepreneurs in realizing their business dreams. The

sessions were led by Mr. Rajesh Nair, President TiE Kerala,Ms. Padmaja Rupel, President, Indian Angel Network, Mr.C. Balagopal, former chairman, Terumo Penpol and Mr.Shiju Radhakrishnan, CEO, i-Traveller.
