Welcome to St AlbansWelcome to the beautiful, historic city of St Albans this Christmas! Shopping is always a

pleasure all year round in St Albans but at Christmas it becomes something extra special. With over 350 shops, both classic and modern, and 3,000 car parking spaces within easy reach of the City Centre, there couldn’t be a better place to do all your Christmas shopping.

Part of the unique shopping experience of St Albans is that most of the shops are independent and exclusive to the city. Reassuringly rare, you can pick up those hard to find gift ideas. With this and the historic atmosphere, why would you want to shop anywhere else!

For 2010 many retailers will be open until 8pm on Thursday evenings in December and open all day Sundays. Make the most of the free car parking available at those times in the council / NCP car parks in the city centre. (See overleaf for details of Free Parking)

Christmas Market & Lights Switch-on Sunday 21st November To kick off the seasonal festivities, don’t miss the spectacular St Albans Christmas Lights Switch-On event, on Sunday 21st November, There is a Christmas Market from 10:00am and family entertainment throughout the day including a Kiddie Funfair, the stars of Peter Pan, (which will be at the Alban Arena over Christmas), ElVince, The St Albans Rock Choir, Swanvesta Social Club, Father Christmas and much more! The lights will be switched-on at 5.30pm.

Free Parking - Did you know that the Council owned City Centre car parks (run by NCP) are FREE after 6.30pm and all day Sunday throughout the year? In addition, on Thursdays in December, the following car parks are also free after 4pm. Car Parks included in the “Thursday Evening in December” promotion are London Road Car Park , Civic Centre Basement Car Park, Gombards Car Park & Bricket Road North Car Park.
