Dear Member:

as President of St. andrews country club I am

pleased to inform you that the audit of our fiscal year

ended October 31, 2012 was completed. We had a

surplus of $286,000 which the Board voted to place

into the Club’s Hurricane Fund. The Hurricane Fund

now has a balance of $833,000.

This year will mark our fifth consecutive year without a dues increase. Over the

same five year period the country clubs in our surrounding area have had dues

increases of up to 20%, due to the economy and rising costs.

I would like to personally thank Craig Martin our COO/GM, Pat Sorensen

our CFO, the entire St. Andrews Country Club Staff, and the members of our

Board of Governors, who have worked tirelessly to make this happen!

The Professional Staff and your Board have worked hard to maintain the high level

of services and amenities we have all come to expect as part of the St. Andrews

lifestyle, while ensuring efficiencies are maximized at every turn!

In conclusion, thank you for all of your continued support of the St. Andrews

Country Club Board of Governors, Craig Martin, Pat Sorensen, and the entire

Professional Staff.

Eileen and I wish all of you happy holidays.

Best Regards,

Michael Goldman

into the PGA Golf Professional Hall of Fame on March 12, 2013!

Dear Members,

We are in the middle of our 2013 winter season and everyone at the Club seems to be enjoying all the amenities and facilities.

I want to thank Mike Goldman, President for his leadership this past and present year. The entire Board of Governors and professional staff work well together to make your Club continue to be regarded as one of the best in the country. I want to thank Al Prince for his leadership in overseeing the Greens Committee the past three years. He has provided us with great ideas and suggestions to make the golf courses enjoyable and in top condition. He has been a positive contributor to the Board and team. We wish him well as he departs the Board and hopefully experiences many less stressful days to enjoy his golf game. Also, I thank Alan Minion for his time and efforts helping the Board this past year by filling one of the vacancies that came open.

The ultimate success of St. Andrews Country Club includes maintaining the high level of member satisfaction through the dedication of the professional team and our efforts to always elevate the product and facilities, resulting in positive real estate sales and increased property values. Our Mission Statement states the St. Andrews Country Club Mission is to provide its members, their families and guests with premier country club facilities, amenities, social programs, recreation, dining and personal service in a warm, welcome and secure environment that consistently exceed member expectations and enhance real estate values. I truly believe that both the Board and the professional staff have demonstrated unwavering commitment to this mission. Over the course of my five and half years managing the Club, the team upholds our standards through pride and professional dedication. We are fortunate to work at such an outstanding place that you call home. We appreciate and value the “family feeling” that St. Andrews embodies and it truly is something special to be part of each day.

We are rolling out an online survey program that allows us to monitor member feedback constantly. We want to always know what you feel about the services and amenities and how we can recognize those individuals who excel and praise them accordingly. We also look to gain knowledge in those areas where we can improve. Your ideas are always appreciated and know we will do what is possible within the parameters of our budget to please you.

Financially we are in very good shape after the first quarter of our fiscal 2013 year with operations positive to budget on the bottom line. The team continues to closely monitor the business aspect of running efficiently, yet effectively, and deliver the high quality service and amenities you expect as a member.

Special thanks to Aaron Krickstein, Director of Tennis, ed Rice and the Tennis Committee for putting on a fantastic tennis exhibition with Ivan Lendl, Jimmy Arias, Bret Haber and our own Simon evelyn.

Wishing you all happy holidays and I hope to see you around the Club soon.

“I have a complaint! Well, it’s not really a complaint but more like an observation or a suggestion.”

I hear these words or words like them all the time, everyday someone stops me with what may seem at the time an unusual request or feedback after an event, sometimes an idea whose time has come. Most of the time it’s a simple request to make a change, improve service a product or simply voice likes or dislikes for something we may or may not have done.

I look at it this way. There are so many opportunities to refine just about every aspect of our Club and under Craig Martin’s leadership, myself and the rest of the professional team are dedicated to the constant improvement of St. Andrews Country Club. We believe without exception that St. Andrews is a special place, deserving our focused attention to detail and refinement and constant change in an effort to bring you and your families the best Country Club experience found anywhere. We need your ideas, thoughts, feedback, likes and dislikes so that as we work on your behalf we make decisions to improve based on feedback received not just by a vocal minority but by anyone with an interest in advancing this great Club now and for years to come.

Our Food and Beverage managers are working on the summer calendar and are planning to launch a new Lakeside menu sometime next month that will feature market fresh fish selections, expanded healthy choices and a wider variety of new dishes. As everyone may know we are renovating many areas of the Club and food and beverage services will be limited to Lakeside where lunch and dinner will be offered all summer while we are under construction around the main clubhouse and pool. We want your Lakeside dining experience to be the best it can be and promise to keep things exciting. More on this subject as we get closer to summer.

The March and April Calendars are full of great events, dinners, lectures and entertainment such as the Herb Garden Dinner Series (March 7 and April 4), Bubbles, Burgers and Beer on March 15, Mark and Clark Dinner show March 20, Passover Seder Dinner March 25 and 26, and a Billy Joel Tribute and Dinner in April.

You don’t want to miss this seasons Spring Social event “Gatsby.” Save the date: April 13. Flappers welcome!

See you around the club.

February proved to be a busy month beginning on the 1st with the annual men’s One Day Member- Guest event. Over 180 members & guests were treated to a magnificent day that was filled with great golf, spectacular on course food & beverage, fabulous gifts and prizes from TaylorMade, and the world’s BeST lunch buffet. not to be outdone was the Couple’s Annual Valentine’s

themed Mixed Member-Guest which was held on Sunday, February 10 and included all of the same great fixings that the men enjoyed. If you missed one of these events make sure to mark your calendars for next year! Also included in February were five Junior Holiday Clinics held during our busy President’s Day week. Over 50 children participated in the clinics that included instruction on chipping, putting, the long game and a visit into the GPC.

March promises to be an even busier month. It kicks off with the Husband & Wife Club Championship held Sunday, March 3 and is followed by the Men’s Classic. The Men’s Classic is a 3-day event held March 8 – 10 and concludes with cocktails and awards. Be sure to come out and watch the event on the 18th green. There is no stopping in sight as the ladies host their one day Member-Guest on March 14 followed by COLOR WAR at “Camp St. Andrews.” Color War events are for all members and include Fitness, Tennis, and Golf throughout the weekend and concludes Sunday with a Tug-Of-War and an evening cocktail party for all participants. The month closes out with the couples Nine, Wine & Dine event on Friday afternoon March 22nd and the Junior Holiday Clinics throughout the Passover & easter weeks.

If you need any information on any of our upcoming tournaments and events please give us a call or pay us a visit in the Golf Shop. We have plenty of new merchandise that has just arrived for both men and women from vendors like Polo, Peter Millar, Bugatchi, Nike, Adidas and many more. On the golf club side new arrivals this month from Callaway, Nike, TaylorMade, Adams, Titleist, Ping, and Cobra fill the shop. Be sure to check out our golf website as well for upcoming Demo Days and trunk shows.

The Golf staff wishes Happy Holiday’s to all our members and their families.

eSt. Andrews Women’s Golf Association 2013 season is underway with a phenomenal start to the New Year.

Congratulations to all of our members who played in the Country Club Challenge against Woodfield Country Club on January 29 and February 5 with a 447 to 399 win! In addition to well-played golf we wore our “lucky red, logoed team shirts.” Thanks to the generosity of the Golf Committee chaired by Ron Gallatin we looked like a classy team, and we played like one.

Thank you to chair Liz Maschler for a wonderful February 12 “Winter Break” program. Nine and eighteen hole golfers met for a morning of three clinics given by Paul Clivio (chipping green), Terry Farino (putting green), Ben Bauer and Mike Johnson (driving range) followed by a delicious brunch on the terrace overlooking our gorgeous herb garden, then 9 holes of par-three golf. We all picked up some great tips and focused in on our short games.

Play for P.I.N.K. was a huge success thanks to Shelley Harris, Judi Falk, ellen Liebman, and of course, Alice Kent. The invites were hand –delivered which made for early sign-up and important dollars to help the cause.

Our women are getting ready to host their friends at our 2013 Ladies’ Member-Guest Day on March 14 chaired by Julie Gitlin who always does an incredibly creative and great job. This year’s theme: The Great American Barn promises to be a fabulous day.

Please mark your calendars, April 23, and join us for our Spring Golf Tournament and Luncheon chaired by Meryl Gallatin. This is open to all members of the St. Andrews Women’s Golf Association (9 & 18 holers). What a wonderful way to segue into the summer season during which time we still have a Tuesday tournament schedule, the opportunity to join the South Palm League (call our Golf Shop) and Summer Swingers led by Ina Rae Fox.

Good luck to our St. Andrews Challenge Cup Team led by Captain Maddy Seeman. Matches will be starting next month. PLeASe ReMeMBeR - On the club website under SAWGA you can always find out what is happening for the month.

Here’s to great golf and fun!

Judging by the enthusiastic reaction of our St. andrews country club members and their guests, this year’s professional tennis exhibition was a resounding success on all counts.

Perfect weather, record attendance, food and drink, exceptional tennis skills on display, attentive fans, and an evening filled with humor of all sorts, especially that provided by my good friend, the always hilarious Jimmy Arias, the brilliant and engaging chair umpire and funny man commentator, Brett Haber and surprising to some (but not to me) the many laughs provided by long time world #1 Ivan Lendl. I am especially grateful to Ivan, who rarely agrees to do these types of events.

Yours truly managed to defeat Ivan 8-3 in an eight game pro set, maintaining his undefeated singles record at St. Andrews Country Club against old decrepit former senior champions, losing only to Andy Roddick and Mardy Fish, obviously too immature to realize the home guy (me) is supposed to win.

The doubles result was an 8-6 victory for Jimmy and I over Ivan and our own Simon evelyn, who played extremely well despite staying up all night, every night, with his 4 month old son, Carlton. Finally, many thanks to Craig Martin and his great professional staff for helping to provide a memorable evening, but most thanks go to all you members whose support for these undertakings makes it all possible.

See you on the Courts!

Bridge

Bridge is in full force as we continue the Advanced/Intermediate Bridge Lessons this month with Larry Cohen. Tuesday nights are replaced by Sunday Pairs Duplicate Bridge in the Promenade. Pick up your Bridge calendars today to show times and locations for your games at the Front Desk. Friday’s Pairs Duplicate Bridge is an instant hit and we will continue it through April 12, 2013. Twilite Bridge on Thursdays is going strong and with the Opening Dinner event being such a success, the Bridge Committee has decided to add a Closing Dinner for the Twilite Bridge Players. We will be having the Twilite Closing Dinner on April 25 so be sure to make reservations. The Closing Championship Game is approaching so make sure to brush up on those Bridge skills as it will be on Wednesday, April 24 this year. Just a reminder that there will be no bridge on Tuesday, March 26 for Passover. Best of luck to all of you in your future games!
