3. Richard Edes’ brother-in-law Ephraim Ephraim Ephraim Ephraim went home to the Lord this week. Please lift up Richard’s sister Joan and her family as they grieve.

4. Beverly Hendrickson’s great granddaughter “OLIVIA” “OLIVIA” “OLIVIA” “OLIVIA” had her 3rd MRI on November 26th. The tumor hasn’t grown. A team of doctors will meet this next week to see what their next step will be. They are praising God that the tumor has not grown. Please continue to pray. The family is so thankful for the prayers.12/2

asked to leave where he was living and had to come home. His mother is unable to deal with the pressure of his lifestyle and his living in their home again. Please pray for healing for all of the members of the family. Pray for peace and wisdom of the parents. Pray that Ryan will have the strength and desire to give up his addictions. 10/15

knees are swollen, especially her right knee and it makes it hard for her to get up and move. Pray that the pain will cease and she will be able to get some rest. TimTimTimTim is doing better but will need to wear the boot for a few more weeks. Pray for encouragement for both of them and complete healing. 12/2

He has been moved to another prison which is worse than the one he has been in. His Iranian family were finally able to see him. He is still not receiving meds for internal problems that he received from the beatings at the other prison. Hope Diamond

“For the wise man, like the fool, will not be long remembered; in days to come both will be

forgotten. Like the fool, the wise man too must die!” Ecclesiastes 2:16

My great grandfather came west in a wagon, married twice, raised children, and led a life filled with

the rich details of developing a raw land. When I was a boy, great granddad’s homestead in the California

desert was sold and subdivided. The new owners knocked down the barn and put up apartments. Granddad is

gone, and I don’t even know his first name. A whole life with its memories, joys, and disappointments is now

as though it never was.

There are currently seven billion people on earth, and at least another fifty billion have come and

gone. That is fifty-seven billion sets of accomplishments, hopes, and setbacks, all forgotten or marginally

remembered. As soon as the present becomes the past, my triumphs and mistakes, my plans and meditations,

my efforts and dreams get piled on the heap of decomposing lives. I do not despair, however, because I

possess a rare and indestructible treasure that will outlive even the end of time.

I own the hope diamond, not the one in the Smithsonian in Washington D.C., but the real hope

diamond. The one in the museum should be called the Hopeless Diamond. Discovered in India, it was

fashioned into the eye of a Hindu idol and, when it was later stolen, a curse supposedly brought grief to

everyone who owned it, including the beheaded Marie Antoinette. That Hope Diamond has a bitter past and a

bleak future in the final fire.

The hope diamond I own is the bright, translucent love of Christ. It sits atop the dark pile of

fragmented human endeavors, and shines indigo rays of beauty. My hope is my one legitimate reason for joy.

It is because of my hope, and not some evaporative legacy, that I will live my short earthly span with

abounding gratitude and optimism. Because of my hope, even my name lives forever in Heaven.
