B-roll of pictures, newspaper article, etc. My name is Demonte Maurice TerrellMcAllister. Im number 97, and I playdefensive tackle. Florida State. TheFlorida State Seminoles.

VO Florida States defensive line isbringing pressure and getting

in the pocket each and every

play. But who is behind the

helmet of number 97? Quick and

    Aggressive on the field, but

    calm and quiet off...its

    defensive tackle Demonte

    McAllister.

Demonte McAllister Ive been playing since I was eight yearsold. I remember I was about 8 or 9, I was100 pounds, I was just tipping the scaleto play pee wee, and I remember stayingup late and doing as much as I could tolose weight, to make sure I had theplaying weight just to play. You know Iremember those days, and it was somuch fun. Just going out there putting ona helmet and running down the field, people cheering.

Demonte McAllister My mom and my dad, they got me intofootball. You know I never really knewwhat it was at first but before oneHalloween they dressed me up as afootball player and you know I wore thehelmet and I was into it as soon as Icould play I was ready to play.

VO BESIDES HELPING TO GET HIM INTO

FOOTBALL, DEMONTES MOM SERVESA MUCH MORE IMPORTANT ROLE IN

HIS LIFE AND HIS SUCCESS ON THE

    FIELD.

Demonte McAllister My motivation is my mom. You know Iseen the things she went through. Takingcare of four kids. So I mean ive beenwith her since day one, since I came out.I get a lot of inspiration from her to keep

    going and to keep fighting.

VO Mcallisters mom also had an

    impact on his decision to

    become a seminole.

Demonte McAllister You know Florida State ive alwayssecretly been a fan. You know I was 7 or8 I had covers from Florida State, weused to always talk about Florida State. You know my mom wanted to go to

Florida State also, but she was pregnantwith me. So you know im living throughher dreams. Its close to home, my familycan come see me play. My mom comesto every week theres a home gameshes up here.

VO Even Off the field, Demontes

    mother brings smiles and

    memories to his teammates.

We were all cooking as a defensivetackle group, and he was like mymomma told me I couldnt eat onions. So we were cooking spaghetti, we putonions in it, didnt think he would notice. Then his nose started bleeding....So thatwas kinda funny because it reminded meof the water boy when he was like wellmy momma say my momma say it wasfun. I dont know how is started bleeding, that part wasnt funny, just the my

    momma, my momma say.

VO The 62 290 pound football

    giant wasnt always limited to

    the football field.

Demonte McAllister I played football, basketball, baseball. Alot of things. It was pretty much footballand baseball. And then when I got to bigfor football pee wee and stuff I startedplaying basketball a lot. But then I just

    switched back to football.

Demonte McAllister Baseball is my favorite. I was actuallypretty good at baseball. I had to choosebetween football and baseball.

Demonte McAllister I just didnt want to be out on thebaseball field. I wanted to play footballand hit people.

Stand-Up And thats exactly what hes doing. But no matter what Demonte is doing,

whether he is hitting people on thefield or cooking spaghetti with histeammates, Demonte is indescribableby his peers.

Anthony McCloud You cant describe Demonte in fivewords. Hes a very special kid. I needmore than 5 to describe the guy. Youknow hes different than what im usedto. I dont know, you just cant describehim in five words.

    VO Demonte McAllister, a

    criminology major will be

    graduating in the spring of

2014, but is bound to be quick

and fierce for the rest of his

    time spent here at Florida

State. Keep an eye out for

    number 97 next time our

defense is on the field. Im

    Heather Biltoc for SeminoleSports Magazine.

LEAD: Florida State is known for their unstoppable defense this year. Between forcing fumbles

on the opponent, catching interceptions, and the fan favorite guarterback sack, the defense has

stepped up their game this season. But the spotlight isnt always on the secondary or defensive

ends. Defensive end Demonte McAllister is making it known he is healthy this season and giving

it his all on the field.

TAG: The Seminoles will be playing today at 3:30 pm against the rivals University of Florida

Gators. You can count on seeing Demonte McAllister in the rotation of defensive tackles making

stops and getting in on some tackles.

    NAT BREAK

VO Words that describe the man

that worked his way to the top

    both academically and

    athletically here at Florida

    State University, Sean Quinn. A

    walk-on for the mens cross

    country team and an academic

    scholar in international affairs

    and philosophy. But he wasnt

always set on such aphilosophical path when he

    came to Florida State.

Sean Quinn I started out as a pre-med/pre-law, Iwasnt sure if I wanted to go to law schoolor med school so I just split myselfbetween the two, and then I realizedmore and more law classes I took had todeal with international affairs andeconomics thrown in there so I went into

international affairs with a focus ineconomics, and philosophy is a reallygood for the LSAT.

VO It wasnt only his academic path

that he was unsure about. He

wasnt positive he was meant to

    pursue athletics at the

    collegiate level.

Sean Quinn My high school times werent exactlyindicative of that. But the more and moreI was around college athletes I realizedhow little we trained in my high school. So it almost seemed that the more and

more I realized how undeveloped I was,the more I thought I had a realistic shot inmaking it.

Coach Braman He sent me some emails about coming toFlorida State, without a guaranteed rosterspot, certainly not on scholarship. Hisprofile certainly didnt show him to be aguy to make our team yet alone make theACC squad which he eventually did. Youknow typical florida high school kid. A lot

of ambition, not a lot of knowledge aboutwhat it really takes to be a goodcollegiate runner. Really good kid but fullof confidence that he was going to comein here and knock it out of the park.

VO And thats exactly what he did,

knock it out of the park with

    some advice and motivation that

has kept him going all this time.

Sean Quinn My cross country coach in high schoolwas the old priest, Father Joe. He was agreat guy, he was really nice, he wasstern when he had to be but he was justreally smart. He died a couple of yearsago and I miss him a lot. So he wasdefinitely an inspiration, he was a greatguy.

Sean Quinn I got some good advice. Just becauseyou can doesnt mean you should. WhenI first got started, I got way to excited. Youknow 17 or 18, you trash yourself withsome draining runs and I realized a lot of

times its not about going all out andworking 100% once every month or so,its about going 90% every single week.

VO But sean wasnt always running

to the finish line growing up.

Sean Quinn Back when I was younger, mygrandfather started me out boxing, mydad started me in wrestling. Me and my

brother played all the time together. Sowe got started in all that. But it wasntuntil I got to high school, I got into moreorganized wrestling and from there Istarted running in my junior year of highschool.

Stand-Up Aside from running with histeammates outside during the week,Sean spends just as much time withhis classmates in the classroom.

Working his way to an honor he hadno idea was coming for him, theGolden Torch award. An award givento a select athlete with the highestGPA on each varsity team.

Sean Quinn That was pretty interesting. I didnt know Iwas in the running for it. I actually dontnormally check my grades when finalgrades are posted because I figure well Idid the best I could so whatever it is, it isand ill find out what my cumulative GPA is

when im applying to grad school andstuff like that. So it was fun and excitingsince I didnt know it was going tohappen.

Coach Braman Its a pretty cool thing for me to see a guylike Sean receive the Golden Torchaward. You know I was a walk on as well.I had a roster spot but I was a walk on. Iworked my way up and was team

captain, made all-SEC three times. Sothose guys that get to reach full potentialmean a lot to me. Academics wasimportant to me in college as well. Myfather was a chemistry professor. So youknow hes a kind of guy thats the samekind of person. So I like to see him workup both academically and athletically.Neither came easy for Sean. He had towork really really hard.

Coach Braman Sean validates to the bottom of our rosterthat you can make it. You can achieve. That does validate the younger guys thatthey can get there.

VO Paving the path with inspiration

    for the younger teammates on

    the roster, Sean continues to

place in every meet in which he

    competes. Finishing from 13th in

the Royal XC Challenge to 93rdin the ACC Championship with a

4.0 in the classroom, he proves

    with perseverance and

    persistence, nothing is

    impossible both athletically

    and academically. Im Heather

    Biltoc for Seminole Sports

    Magazine.

LEAD: Being perfect in academics and successful in athletics is every athletesaspiration. It is the athletes that achieve the dream that give hope to everyone else thatnothing is impossible. Sean Quinn proves that you can have a 4.0 and a roster spot withhard word and dedication.

TAG: Sean will be returning to earn his masters in applied economics next year here atFlorida State and continue to run in his last year of eligibility. Then has plans to attendlaw school and continue his education at either Notre Dame or Yale. But he plans toalways be a Seminole at heart.

just showed everything tonight, he showed whathes been working hard for its just a little bit ofwhat he can do and give the crowd something tolook forward to this season.

STAND-UP Seminole Madness was filled with fun andexcitement for everyone at the Tucker Center.Between basketball, dancing, and doing thechop, all the players and even CoachHamilton ended the night with smiles on theirfaces, pleased with what happened on thecourt and in the stands.

Coach Hamilton Wed like for everyone to shot like that all night,

but I think you see tho that we have the potentialto develop, I think we have a lot of guys that playwith energy and spirit. We are excited about therelationship that we are establishing with ourfans, students, and just people in the community. Its going to energize us and give us somethingto keep working hard for, to represent them andcome home and try to defend our ACC title.
