CREATORS David Grapes (Co-Creator) is currently the Executive Producing Director of the Tennessee Repertory Theatre (LORT C), the largest professional theatre company in the state. Prior to his amval in Nashville, David worked for three years as the Executive Director and Producing Artistic Director for Artpark and Artpark at the Church, a large Equity theatre com- pany located in upstate New York where he produced a number of regional premieres. David is a member of Actors' Equity Association, the Society of Stage Directors & Choreographers, and is a graduate of the MFA Theatre Program at UNC-G A classically-tmined actor, David also has extensive experience in academic theatre, having served as the Department Chair and Master Acting Teacher at West Virginia University at Parkersburg (WV), Tarkio College (MO), and Moorhead State University (MN). A few recent credits include IlEvelve Angry Men, Romeo & Juliet, Cowgirls, Camelot, and The Little Foxes for Tennessee Rep and Always Patsy Cline for the Ryman Auditorium. He is the recipient of four 'Tennie" awards for best direction. His recent production of My Way at the Asolo Theatre in Sarasota, F l shattered all previous box office records during its 35 performance sold-out run in May of 2001. During the fall of 2001, David staged West Side Story in a co-production with the Nashville Symphony and then trav-

eled to Little Rock to direct I Love You, You 're Perfect, Now Change for Arkansas Repertory Theatre.

Todd Olson (Co-Creator & Book) serves Tennessee Repertory Theatre as Associate Artistic Director and Director of Education. He received his MFA from University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and is a graduate from the Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at

Harvard. While there, Todd took classes with Anna Deveare Smith, David Mamet, Peter

Sellars, Andrei Serban, Austin Pendleton, Jason Alexander, and Robert Brustein, among oth- ers. Todd has directed over 100 plays, musicals, and operas. A few recent credits include Wit. Cyrano de Bergerac, and An Ideal Husband (Tennessee Repertory Theatre, all winning Nashville 'Tennie" Awards for "Best Production"), world premieres of short plays by Steve

Martin, Larry Gelbart, and Eric Bogosian (American Repertory Theatre), Hamlet (Boston), Moon Over Buffalo (Pennsylvania), Seven Deadly Sins (Huntington Theatre), The Winterk Tale, The Seagull, Betrayal, and Coriolanus (Harvard). Todd lives in Nashville with his wife Charlotte, their kids Jonas and Corinna, and their two dogs, Diana and Camilla

Dear Patrons:

We are beginning our 46th year of operation with this pre-

sentation of My Way. We are fortunate to have David I

Grapes as the director and actors and actresses who have @

appeared in many productions of the show across the

nation. Mr. Grapes, with Todd Olson, conceived this trib- x

ute to Frank Sinatra and he directed the original produc-

tion and has directed numerous other productions of the

show.

April 25-27 the students in our drama classes will present

four performances of The Music Man, Jr. for the general

public and then will present eight performances for school

groups the following week. We urge you to make reser-

vations to see the talented young people of central Illinois.

We have an exciting line-up of shows for this summer (see

page 11). If you have not purchased your season sub-

scriptions, you need to contact our ticket office soon. We

have nearly 2,500 subscribers signed up already and that

represents about 40% of our seating capacity for a two

week run of a show. Become a subscriber and insure that

Artistic Company Profiles John C. Brown-Musical Director/Piunist

This is John's third time around with My Way. This past summer he played the show at the Sierra Repertory Theatre in Sonora, California and again in the fall at the Merced Center for the Performing Arts in Merced, California. Other musical direc- tion credits include Closer Than Ever and Schoolhouse Rock, Live! for the Round Barn Theatre in Nappanee, Indiana, Sacco and Vanzetti: A Vaudeville at the People's Light and Theatre Company in Malvern, Pennsylvania, Hair and Nunsense II for the Seascoast Repertory Theatre in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and engagements at the famed Catch A Rising Star in New York City. A native of New Hampshire, John lived in NYC for six years before moving to Los Angeles eighteen months ago. He is very happy to be working here and sharing this great music with all of you.

Erin Joy Swank-Stage Manager Erin Joy Swank is excited to join The Little Theatre with this production, and looks forward to a jam-packed summer season as well. It's been a year since Erin has worked in Illinois on A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur S Court at Rockford's New American Theatre. She has enjoyed stage management stints at a wide variety of regional theatres, including Long Wharf Theatre, Milwaukee Rep, Fredericksburg Theatre Company, and the Vineyard Playhouse on Martha's Vineyard. Erin feels especially honored to have worked with Lynn Redgrave, Anne Meara, Eli Wallach, Martha Plimpton, and Michael Rupert among the countless other talented folks both onstage and behind the scenes. For a change of pace, the last two Christmas seasons have been spent touring with the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, helping organize over 50 cast members, at least that many crew members and 3 adorable camels.

Matthew T. Gross-Lighting Designer Matthew is pleased to be returning to The Little Theatre On The Square. Past favorite Little Theatre shows include Jesus Christ Superstar, Oliver and Chicago. Matthew currently lives and works in New York City.

Michael Heinicke-Technical Director/Production Manager Michael is returning for the 2003 season as production manager for The Little Theatre On The Square. Last summer he worked as technical director and designed the scenery for the children's shows The Little Mermaid and Snow White. He is a grad- uate of The Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University where he studied technical direction and sound design. Some of his recent sound design work includes: Lebensraum (The New Jewish Theatre); Scotland Road (Court Theatre); The Cherry Orchard, Bob Almighty (Peninsula Players); The 5th of July and The Women (Webster University).

Jason Malmberg-Bass Jason attended Eastern Illinois University where he received his Bachelors in Music Education. He has played in groups including the EIU Jazz band, EIU's top jazz combo, and the Lewis and Clark Big Band in Alton, IL. Jason also performed with the Sullivan Singers during their 2002 season. Jason is a native of the St. Louis metro area. He currently resides in Rantoul, IL. Jason and his wife, Julie, plan on return- ing to the St. Louis area after the birth of their first child in June. Jason personally loves the music of Frank Sinatra and looks forward to the opportunity to perform it.

Nicole Fenstad- Woman #2 Nicole Fenstad is delighted to be working at The Little Theatre. She comes from New York, where she recently finished premiering a new musical about Rosemary Clooney entitled, A Dash of Rosemary. This is Nicole's second production of My Way (Actors Theatre of Louisville), but first with her dear friend Douglas Kampsen. Credits include: Sandy, in the European Tour of

Grease; Woman 1 , I Love You, You're Pe$ect, Now Change; Lily St. Regis, Annie; Ado Annie, Oklahoma!; Eva Peron, Evita; Roxie, Chicago and Christine in Phantom. She is a native of Fargo, North Dakota and earned a B.A. in Theatre from the University of Minnesota, Moorhead.

John Fredo-Man #I John Fredo, a native of Buffalo, New York, has enjoyed many cities in the U. S. and all over the world. He has worked with such notables as Maurice Hines, Mercedes Ellington, Judith Jamison, Jennifer Holliday and Savion Glover. Some of his favorite roles include John Adams in 1776, Marvin in Falsettos, El Gallo in The Fantastiks, and My Way, which he has been with from its inception. John is proud to have a creative life and wishes to thank all that support him with love and music.

Kristin Huffman- Woman #I Kristin is excited to be singing in her third production of

My Way. Professional regional theatre credits include shows at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C., Civic Light

Opera of Pittsburgh, Papermill Playhouse, the Tony award

winning Actor's Theatre of Louisville as well as many < .

others. She has sung concerts with the Indianapolis,

Alabama, Lake Charles and Columbus Symphonies. She -7 has performed in Equity showcases in New York, in the World Premiere of Jekyll and Hyde, and in A European Tour of Phantom as Chnstine. Her favorite roles include

Gwenever, Nellie Forbush and Anna in The King and I. Kristin won Miss Ohio and

became a runner-up to Miss America and with the scholarship money she received

she paid off her student loans at Northwestern University. Kristen teaches voice and

performance to the musical theatre majors at the Hartt School of Music, University

of Hartford.

Douglas Kampsen-Man #2 Douglas Kampsen is very exclted to be returning to one of

his favorite theatres, The Little Theatre On The Square.

He was last seen here in several Christmas shows as well

as Ellard in The Foreigner and Brother Lee Love in Monky Business. He is a native of Sauk Center, Minnesota, but

1 . has spent the past six years in his new home, New York \ City. This is Doug's 6th production of My Way, a role he

orig~natecl at Tenne\\ee Repertory Theatre. He has performed in New York City and

around the country playing such roles as Jimmy Gilboy in Finnegan'.~ Farewell, Jim

in Gift of the Magi, Cornelius in Hello Dolly! and Frankie in Forever Plaid. Doug

holds a BA in both Theatre and Speech Communications from the University of

Minnesota, Moorhead. He has just completed a successful run in NYC in A Dash Of Rosemary!, a musical tribute to Rosemary Clooney, a show which he wrote, direct-
