OUR HISTORYIn the year 2000 the founders of KUYICHI, NGO

Solidaridad, wanted to introduce organic cotton in the clothing industry.

During their experience with the development of fair trade organic co!ee and fruit business in Latin America, they found the cotton industry caused a lot of pollution and poverty among indigenous Indians and factory workers.

Solidaridad decided to make a change. First, Solidaridad tried to convince the big players in the denim industry to use organic cotton, in order to improve the working and

living conditions in developing countries.

None of the brands were interested and Solidaridad started their own fashion brand in response.

In 2001 KUYICHI was born.

KUYICHI and Cortina to launch limited edition bicycle

Sustainable denim brand KUYICHI is collaborating with top-market Dutch bicycle brand Cortina to co-design a new bike. Inspired by the latest trends, this limited edition

automatic gear.

Thicker than water“As one of the most eco-friendly forms of transportation, designing a bike made perfect sense to us. In addition, we are a Dutch brand and the Netherlands is a bicycle country par excellence”, says internationale sales director Peter Schuitema. He adds: “Interna-tionally, cycling has developed into a lifestyle, and Cortina sets the tone in terms of quality and design”.

Selfie contestSelected KUYICHI dealers worldwide will receive the exclusive bike in March 2015 for in-store presentation. KUYICHI fans can win the bike by taking a selfie on the bike after their purchase of a pair of KUYICHI jeans. They automatically enter the competition by simply tagging their photo #kuyichibike on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or Tumblr.

Socio-creative initiative STUB001 challenges township adolescents to co-create t-shirt printsKUYICHI joins forces with Ubuntu Academy and artist SIT to inspire young South-African talents

Early spring this year, Amsterdam-based artist SIT flew to Cape Town to meet the Ubuntu students that would form his creative team. Ubuntu Academy is a two-year programme that teaches young adults to become entrepreneurs in the arts. KUYICHI challenged SIT and the students to create prints for their Spring/ Summer 2015 t-shirt range. Apart from the assign-
