Her people were turned into slaves or driven out of their village.She was intelligent and wanted to bring her people back because of how cruel they were treating them as slaves.She was a role model and was respected by her village. Yet she failed in keeping them together.

Juan de Morga & Gertrudis de Escobar

Juan becomes a slave for Mestizo who he thinks inferior of.

He pretends to pray to the devil and acts crazy.

Gertrudis is a slave for nuns. She comits a sin and is sent to sugar plantations.

She becomes a violent drunk – but is freed.

Both took the advantage of acting out of the norm in society. Although they were powerless they were still able to get the respect and freedom they wanted.

Cristobal Bequer He became a priest but wasn’t content so he insisted of leaving and looking for empoyment.

He started doing outrageous things and acting crazy.

He couldn’t enter another church, so instead they held him in a monastery.

He was supposed to be prosecuted, but instead died in the monastery.

His adventurous and struggled life shows the complications one went through to being comfortable in colonial communities.

She was a nun and prayed for religious perfection.

She helped numerous amounts of people and even did some miracles on few.

As her death approached her secrets to her wealth revealed she was a successful business woman and investor.

She left thousands to a slave, to the church and her sisters.
