Martin Ocelotl

• An indigenous prodigy, christened Martin, was punished for teaching his ancient, religious views; he was seen as an enemy of the Holy Faith by the Spaniards.

• He became rich by making money through his estates and teachings.

• His punishment consisted of humiliation to the colony and was sent on a ship to Spain for execution.

• His courage against the Spanish invasion was seen through his many followers that continued to worship their ancient rituals, even after his disappearance.

Isabel Moctezuma

• Brought up in a time where very precise, wedding ceremonies were done between nobles, Isabel ended up marrying five different Aztec men.

• Later on, she was the first woman that a Spanish man married and they had a child.

• She was the first symbol of a Hispanic, Indian woman. As was her child.

Enrico Martinez

• Enrico arrived to Veracruz, Mexico on one of the Spanish ships just like other immigrants.

• He showed up with scientific and political knowledge.

• Because of his non-spanish background, it was difficult for him to start a life in the fields he wished to.

• He was imprisoned for his own work and his opportunities to succeed further in life ended.
