AUSTENITIC STAINLESS STEEL PIPING CURVE OF COEFFICIENT k 1 GENERAL This standard gives the curve for defining the allowable pressures in different
temperatures generally for Pipe classes and in detail for branch connections presented in standards ST-001/031.
2 LIMITATIONS The allowable pressure shall not exceed the nominal pressure of Pipe classes
10S...100S. In Pipe classes 4S and 6S the allowable pressure may exceed the nominal pressures 4 and 6 bar. The maximum allowable pressure is however 10 bar.
3 EXAMPLES Example 1: Pipe class 25S2A Temperature = 160°C Coefficient k = 0.86 The allowable pressure = 0.86 x 25 bar = 21.5 bar, which means that all
components of that Pipe class stand the pressure 21.5 bar. Example 2: Pipe class 6S2A Temperature = 20°C Coefficient k = 1.20 The allowable pressure = 1.20 x 6 bar = 7.2 bar, which means that the Pipe
class can be used up to 7.2 bar with the lapped flanges of PN 10. Example 3: Pipe class 10S2A Temperature = 40°C Coefficient k = 1.12 The allowable pressure ≠ 1.12 x 10 bar = 11.2 bar. The allowable pressure =
10 bar. Note! The flanges are according to PN 10.

AUSTENITIC STAINLESS STEEL PIPING CURVE OF COEFFICIENT k Example 4: Branch connection without reinforcement of Pipe class 25S2A, 273.0 x 219.1. Temperature = 160°C Coefficient k = 0.86 Allowable pressure from standard ST-027 Table 9 = 12.6 bar. The allowable pressure = 0.86 x 12.6 bar = 10.8 bar, which means that the
branch connection stands the pressure 10.8 bar. Example 5: Reinforced branch-connection of Pipe class 25S2A, 273.0 x 219.1 Temperature = 160°C Coefficient k = 0.86 Allowable pressure from standard ST-027 Table 10 = 18.3 bar. The allowable pressure = 0.86 x 18.3 bar = 15.7 bar, which means that the
branch connection stands the pressure 15.7 bar.

3 APPLICATION FIELD
This instruction applies to the following fluids: stock, white water, clarified white water, treated water and compressed air in systems not over 100°C temperature, and according to pressure class from PN 4 (4S) up to PN 100 (100S)
4 MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS
Welded rolled or cold drawn pipe and according to project specifications, acceptable material specifications include: - AISI 304 - AISI 304 L - AISI 316 - AISI 316 L or equivalent. Inside wall finish: Ra 0,8 to 1,2 µ unless otherwise specified.
