WHAT WE DO: The Home and School Association supports school programs by raising funds and providing volunteers for a variety of activities. WHY THAT IS VERY IMPORTANT: PUBLIC SCHOOLS NEED TO FUNDRAISE TOO! Many of the programs that make our school a beacon of academic and creative excellence depend upon private fundraising and are NOT supported with government funds. Home and School is integral to raising the funds that are necessary to run a variety of the enrichment programs for SRS students. And with the recent cuts in funds to public education, those fundraising efforts are more critical than ever. WE NEED YOU! In order for any fundraising efforts to be successful we must first have a robust and effective Home and School run by enthusiastic and involved parents. Parent involvement is an important part of a positive school experience for children, and all parents are encouraged to become involved with the Home and School Association. There are many opportunities for parent involvement, from one-day events to more long-term volunteer commitments. The following pages provide an overview of each Home & School Representative position. For more information on all volunteer possibilities call your grade representative, contact our volunteer coordinator or leave your name in the office. CHECK US OUT: Attendance at Home and School Association meetings promotes a better understanding among parents, teachers, and administrators by providing a forum for discussion and gives parents a window into how your child’s school is run.
