WELCOMEIt gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 2019 iteration of SRP’s France conference, the second time the city of Paris hosts this landmark event.
SRP’s France conference, on June 19, brings together some of the best minds in structured products and derivatives in the industry for a day of networking, education and in-depth discussion.
The French financial regulator, the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), chose SRP’s maiden event last year as the forum to announce changes to the way it had traditionally reviewed complex financial instruments. The French Treasury also confirmed its objective of simplifying regulation and remove obstacles, particularly for structured products.
As such, France is an essential market for structured investments, as seen in the benchmark (and landmark!) performance report released by SRP and the French association for structured products, the AFPDB, in November 2018. The report helped shed light on the increasingly important role structured products play in investment portfolios. However, there is still much to do – and discuss – to raise their profile in the market.
This is why SRP is building on the momentum it gained at last year’s event, which attracted over 200 attendees, and returning to Paris to host major figures from the buy- and sell-sides including asset managers, investment banks, fund managers, as well as law firms, regulatory bodies and fintech companies.
And if this year’s agenda is anything to go by, 2019 promises to be an even bigger and better event.
The event will kick off with a keynote speech for a representative of the French Treasury, who will discuss the impact Brexit has had – and is continuing to have – on the global structured product scene.
The day will continue with a European geography lesson, to find out what France learn from other markets including Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and Spain. Representatives of these countries will discuss and compare key trends and strategies at play in their respective jurisdictions.
The AMF will also return to discuss the latest developments for issuers and distributors, including issues pertaining to product governance, best practices, costs and charges, and the impact of current rules – specifically the much-maligned Mifid 2 and Priips frameworks – on these areas.
The ESG investment thematic will also be the subject of a dedicated panel, with speakers attempting to determine what can be done to drive this space forward. Bridging the gap from theory to practice, a discussion on innovation in indexing will see banks and insurance companies present proposed solutions to real-life case studies.
Technology and its impact on the structured products market will also be a key topic of discussion, with panels and presentations dedicated to how banks are tackling the digitalisation topic and regtech, and their transition towards automation. SRP’s new Talks series of presentations, which launched at the London event in February, is also coming to Paris. Each presenter will outline a new product/service idea they believe would make the market better or more efficient.
I also hope you can join us in the evening of June 19 for our drinks reception, held at Le Méridien Etoile hotel, the best possible way to close an event. And of course, I would like to extend a huge thank you to our sponsors for making this event possible.
See you in Paris!
Cordialement,
Amélie Labbé Global Head of Content | SRP
