Respected Dignitaries on and off the dais, Parents, Invitees, Staff & my dear students,
I am extremely happy to present a brief report on the activities of College of
Engineering & Technology for the academic year 2018-19.
With the aim to provide international standard in education & training, the Campus is
developed in lush green campus with state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities.
College of Engineering & Technology is a department of Srinivas University, recognised by
UGC, New Delhi and offers the following professional Courses:
Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.)
Master of Technology (M.Tech) &
PhD Programmes in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engg & Chemistry.
The college offers 4 year (eight semesters) undergraduate B.Tech. programme in the
following disciplines:
• Civil Engg., Computer Science & Engg., Electronics & Communication Engg.,
Mechanical Engg., Information Security & Cloud Technology, and Data Sciences. It also
offers Postgraduate programme M.Tech in Structural Engg (Civil), M.Tech in Computer
Science Engg, M.Tech in Industrial Nano Bio Technology, and Doctoral programme in
Civil Engg., Mechanical Engg.& Chemistry.
Infrastructure
The institute has hi-tech gallery class rooms with latest teaching aids like LCD, audio
system and multimedia facilities to train the students by implementing e-learning and
teaching environment.
The institute is provided with a well-established spacious library of 1730 sq. mtrs which
has 25,711volumes of books with 4786 titles worth Rs. 68,33,798/-. The library has 2,787
Study materials, 1,746 CDs, 875 project reports, 95 bound volumes and National and
International Journals. Every department maintains their own departmental library which has
a total of more than 1,200 books. The library is also provided with e-library, digital library
and Book bank facilities for the benefit of the students. The management encourages
upgrading the library from time to time.
The institute has fully furnished laboratories, workshops, state-of-the-art computer
centers with high end computers and networking, and a separate section for CAD to teach
Computer Aided Drawing, which is upgraded every year.

• The campus has Free Internet Facility with 10 Mbps (1:1) BSNL leased line internet
connection and also provides Wi-Fi facility to the students & Staff.
• Every Department has full-fledged laboratories having the latest equipments.
Department of Civil Engineering:
• Civil Engineering Students Association "SRISTICA" 2018-19 was inaugurated on
Friday, 2nd November 2018. Chief Guest Er Roger M Pinto (Managing Director of
Mangalore Properties Pvt Ltd) inaugurated the function. Dr. Anil Kumar (Registrar,
Srinivas University) presided over the function. Dr. Shreeprakash B (Dean, SUCET),
Dr. Praveen B M (Coordinator, Srinivas University), Dr. Ramakrishna Hegde (Vice
Principal & HOD, Dept of Civil Engineering), Sri Ravikiran Suvarna (Faculty
Coordinator, SRISTICA), Sri Abhishek I Dadibhavi (President, SRISTICA), Ms.
Srinidhi G Naik (Secretary, SRISTICA) were present.
• SRISTICA, Students Association of Dept of Civil Engineering, SUCET (Srinivas
University College of Engineering & Technology) organized Technical Talk on
Tuesday, 6th March 2018 at Mukka Campus. Er Somashekhar N., Territory Technical
Service Manager from UltraTech Cement, Mangaluru delivered Talk on Value Added
Concrete, Advanced Concrete Technology.
• Technical talk was held on 27th march 2018 Er. Nagesh Puttaswamy, Regional Head
Technical South- Ultratech Cement, on the topic “Smart technology for Smart
Concrete”.

• Technical talk was held on 3rd April 2018 Er. Ujwal D Souza, Director -O&A –
Marian Projects Pvt. Ltd Mangaluru and also Managing Partner Marian
Infrastructures, Mangaluru, on the topic “Construction Project Management”.
• Technical talk was held on 3rd April 2018 Er. Anil Baliga, Authorised Distributor for
FORSCO Brand construction chemicals, special concrete, Civil Engineering and
construction items ‘MANJESHWAR TECHNO TRADES’ at Yeyyadi Mangaluru, on
the topic “Recipe for making Durable concrete”
• Engineers Day was celebrated with great pomp at Srinivas University College of
Engineering & Technology, Mukka, Mangalore by Civil Engineering department
under the banner of SRISTICA, the student body, on 15th September. Chief Guests
of the event were Er. Anand Kumar, Proprietor, Master Plannery, Puttur and Er.
Ujwal D’Souza, Director, Marian Projects Pvt. Ltd., Mangaluru. Prizes were
distributed to the students for the competitions which were held on behalf of
Engineer’s Day. Presidential address was given by Dr. Shreeprakash B. Dean,
SUCET.

• Guest lecture on Recent Advances in Earthquake Resistant Construction Practices by
Prof. Katta Venkataraman of NITK on 26th September.
Department of Computer Science & Engineering:
• The department activities of ’ACE’ (Association of Computer Science &
Engineering), the student association of Computer Science & Engineering
Department, College of Engineering & Technology, Srinivas University, Mukka, was
inaugurated by Dr. Harischandra Hebbar N, Professor, School of Information Science,
Manipal and Guest of Honor Mr. Sandeep Patil, Executive Director, M/s Applied
Cognition Systems on 16 October 2018.
• A workshop on “Hibernate and Spring MVC, Services & Integration” was conducted
on 7th October 2018 for the students by NIIT, Mangalore. at Srinivas University,
Mukka.
• Database Mini Project Exhibition “DATA QUEST – 2018” was organised on 22nd
February 2018 by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering for 6th
semester students. 35 teams comprising of all the students of the batch participated
and exhibited their projects, presenting the front end and back end designs.
Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering:
• The inaugural function of activities of Electronics and Communication Department
Students Association (NICSA) was organized at the college on 29th October 2018.

Dr. Abdul Kareem, Director, R & D, MIT, Kundapura was the Chief Guest and
advised the students to develop skills and work smart in his inaugural address. Dr.
Shreeprakash B, Dean, College of Engineering and Technology, Srinivas University,
Mangaluru, presided over the function. The Newsletter of E & C association was
released by the guests on this occasion.
• A Technical talk on “Fuzzy Logic” by Dr. Abdul Kareem Director, R & D, MIT,
Kundapura was organized prior to the formal function.
• Mini Project ExihibitionProflash 2018 was organised by the Dept of Electronics &
Communication Engineering at SUCET Srinivas University Mukka Mangaluru.
Dept. of Mechanical Engineering:

• The Inauguration of AIMES-2018 (Association of Integrated Mechanical
Engineering Students) was held at Srinivas University College of Engineering and
Technology, Mukka, Mangalore on 5th October 2018. Mr Nerenki Parshwanath,
Chief General Manager, Mandovi Motors Pvt Ltd, Mangalore, was the chief guest
and inaugurated the programme.
• Organised Technical Talk on "Job Opportunities for Mechanical Engineers" on
13 March 2018 at Mukka Campus for the students. Resource Person Mr. Suraj
Kumar Shetty, Director of Inergia Pvt Ltd presented a topic on different types of
skills a mechanical engineer should possess in order to be easily placed in various
companies.
• A workshop on “Hands on training on assembly of two wheeler components”
was jointly organised by Department of Mechanical Engineering, SUCET, Mukka
and Sai Radha TVS Udupi and Mangaluru.
• Students of Mechanical engineering, participated and qualified for top 5 position in
the event “Seismism’ in Amalthea - 2018 held at IIT Gandhinagar, Gujarat on 20th
and 21st October 2018.

• A five-day workshop on ANSYS software was jointly organized by Department of
Mechanical Engineering, SUCET, Mukka and eCADD Mangalore on 3rd September
2018.
• Workshop on “Experiential Learning Through Virtual Labs” was held on 17th
November, 2018. Workshop was conducted on simulating various experiments
through virtual labs situated in N.I.T.K Surathkal.
• A workshop on "Alternative fuels for IC engines" was held on 19th November
2018. Dr Kumar GN, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering,
NITK, Surathkal, was the resource person
• A workshop on Aero Modelling and 3D Printer was organized by Mechanical
Engineering students of TECHNOTRONICS team of Srinivas University College of

Engineering & Technology (SUCET) to Electrical Branch Diploma Students of
Karnataka Polytechnic (KPT), Mangaluru on 27-02-2018.
Department of Chemistry
Fund / Grant Received:
• Dr . Praveen B M, Professor & Head, has received a grant of Rs. 19,59,650/- from
BRNS, BARC, Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India, for the project titled
‘Electrodeposition of Noble Metals on steel Surfaces for efficient hydrogen dosing
requirement of Boiling Water Reactors’.
Award Received:
• Dr Sandhya Shenoy U, Assistant Professor (DST Inspire Faculty), has been awarded
Prof. G. Gopala Rao Centenary Commemorative Award, during the 37th Annual
Conference of Indian Council of Chemists, held at NITK, Surathkal during 12-14th
December 2018.
Sports
• Mr Hermon Saldanha, a II-year student of Mechanical Engineering secured First place
in the Open Under 25 section of the Albertian International Open FIDE Rated Chess
Tournament – 2018 held at Kochi, Kerala.

• Mr. Mithun Shetty won 3 Gold Medals & 1 Bronze Medal in Athletics (100m, 200m,
Shotput & Javelin Throw) in REVELS 2018 (National Level Cultural & Sports Fest
of MIT Manipal from 7-10 March 2018)
Training & Placement Dept:
• A Guest lecture on “Latest innovations in Technology & Industrial orientation Project
Ideas” was arranged by Mr. Sudeep Devashya , CEO, Epitas Software LLP
Mangalore.
• Mr. Sandeep Patil, Executive Director, M/s Applied Cognition Systems delivered a
Technical talk on “Industrial Expectations from Academic Institutions” on 16 October
2018.
Other Activities:
• Welcome Day, Orientation Programme, Soft Skill Training program, ISAP, Blood
Donation Camp, Project Exhibition, Farewell function, Alumni Meet, Mother’s Meet,
International Women’s Day, Rashtriya Ekta Divas (National Unity Day), International
Yoga Day, Student Induction Program, Clean Campus Drive, Canara Zonal Sports Meet,
Robo Expo, Inter College Table Tennis Tournament, Badminton, 30 yard cricket,
Cricket, Volleyball & TT tournaments, release of college magazine Shri Sampada,
inauguration of various branch Associations, coding competitions, various Value

Addition courses and workshops to students, Technical Talks by experts were held in the
college.

• College celebrated Onam, Teachers Day, Engineers Day, Sharada Pooja, Ayudha Pooja,
and Deepavali.
• College organized Inter-College Techno cultural & Sports Fest Tech Yuva, Inter class
Cultural and Literary Event Kalaspandana, World Water Day, Yuva Science Talent
2018 and a State Level Technical competition ‘Jnana Darpana’.
• Many of our faculty members have published research papers in various national &
international journals, attended national & international workshop/conferences,
delivered technical talks.
• NSS, Rotaract, Fine Arts and Speakers Clubs are functioning in the college.
I conclude my report by thanking all the members of the Management, faculty, staff and
students for their support and participation in all activities of the colleges.
