Vaidhya Devathas. On 21st May Sriman Haresh (Singapore) presently  in Mumbai came to Bangalore for darshan of H H 

Ranga Priya Swami. He was  to undergo micro‐surgery at Manipal Hospital. Swami blessed him and 

then  gave  a  small  discourse  on  Vaidhya  Devathas.  Swami  told  1)  Dhanvanthri, 

2)Vaidhyanatheshwara, 3)Suryanarayanan, 4)Ashwini Kumaras  and Vayu  are Vaidhya Devathas.  So 

there are Pancha Vaidya Devathas.

Then swami told the sloka "Arogyam Bhaskaradithya Cha", meaning, Surya takes care of Arogya, then 

the  next  quote  swami  gave  was  "Bhishaktamam  tva  Bhishajam"  The  meaning  here  is  You 

(Dhanvantari  bhagavAn)  are  the  best  physician  among  the  physicians  ‐  that  He  is  Vaidyaraja. 

Dhanvanthri  is  the  avatharam  of Maha  vishnu  for Vaidya.  Then  swami  told Ashwini Devathas  are 

Surya Putras, Suryan  looks after Arogya hence his sons also take care of Health. Then Swami quoted 

Vishnu Shahasnamam "Vedyo Vaidya sada yogi and another sloka "Nirvanam Beshajam Beshag" Then 

swami told Beshajam means Medicine and Beshag means person who gives medicine. With this quote 

swAmi blessed Haresh and finished the small discourse.

Ps: Swami Asked me whether  I have seen the Dhanvantri Bhagavan of Srirangam,  I told 

yes , Then he told in Srirangam temple  even today first ritual  in the morning starts with 

Sukhu  Kashayam  from  Dhanvantri  Bhagavan  sannidhi  goes  to  Raja  of  the  Srirangam 

temple Lord Ranganatha , then only other rituals start. Then he asked if I have the picture 

of Srirangam Dhanvantri Bhagavan  ,  I  should add  it  in  the article  ,  I had an old picture  

then , I approached a Abhimani of Asmath Acharyan ,he sent me not one but two pictures, 

I thank him and also I am including those pictures for your eyes feasting.
