TIME TO RE-ORIANT OUR APPROCHI am happy that the university has
thcelebrated its 8 convocation in a befitting manner which is graced by Hon'ble vice - president of India Sri M. Venkaiah Naidu and chancellor of the university & Hon'ble Governor of Andhra Pradesh Sri ESL Narasimhan. The distinguished dignitaries visited the Veterinary Pathology museum of the College of Veterinary Science, Tirupati and a documentary on their visit was broadcasted in R a j y a s a b h a T V a n d t h r o u g h l i n k http://youtu.be/ohsCHU5JcTs.
During this quarter of the year, the University focused on capacity bui lding programmes like overseas training program to the teaching staff of the university, organization of training programmes to Assistant Professors of
Fishery Science faculty and training programmes for Field Veterinarians and farmers.
Other notable achievements of the university were inauguration of feed and forage analytical lab at CVSc, Tirupati for catering the needs of farmers, implementation of Tribal sub-plan as part of NSWPI, ICAR project at LRS Palamaner for improvement of sheep breeding. Supply of Vanaraja chicks by the department of Poultry Science, CVSc, Tirupati under the ICAR poultry seed project and creating awareness among dairy farmers about mastitis control by CCVEC were appreciable. The virtual reality software made available at Veterinary Anatomy department on cattle dissection with the help of NAHEP-IC grants at CVSc, Tirupati will augment the practical skills of the Veterinary graduates. The university has created the Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) as well as Prioritizing, Monitoring and Evaluation (PME) cell at university administrative office for systematic planning, implementation and monitoring of university projects.
thThe university has held the XII SLTP meeting and 67 meeting of Board of Management and technical meet for improvement of Nellore sheep during the period under report. The staff and students of the university participated in socio-cultural activities by celebrating the occasions like May day,World Ethnic day, Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanthi, Mahatma Jyothi Rao Phule Jayanthi, College Day, International Yoga Day and World Veterinary Day.
I congratulate the staff of KVK, Guntur for receiving the best performance award for their contributions in CLFD on pulses. I also appreciate and congratulate Dr. Pratap V Reddy, an alumni of CVSc, Tirupati for his financial contributions in establishing the feed and forage analytical lab as well as first floor of Alumni home. I congratulate students of college of Dairy Technology for their placements in reputed companies.
I congratulate the faculty, staff and students for their collective and pertinent efforts for uplifting the positive image of the University.

THSVVU CELEBRATED ITS 8 CONVOCATION
thThe 8 Convocation of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, thTirupati was held on 24 April at the Auditorium of College of
Veterinary Science, Tirupati. The Hon’ble Governor of Andhra Pradesh
and Telengana and the Chancellor, Sri E. S. L. Narasimhan, presided over
the convocation ceremony. Sri M. Venkaiah Naidu, the Hon’ble Vice-
President of India was the Chief Guest and addressed the august
gathering and emphasized the need of advanced veterinary services to
the remote areas as the livestock now became one of the major sources
of income to the farmers next to agriculture.
The Hon’ble Governor of Andhra Pradesh delivered the
convocation inspiring the Graduates and Post-Graduates. In his
concluding remarks, he suggested the veterinarians to play a pivotal
role for overall development of villages with livestock as prime factor.
In this convocation, degrees were conferred to 231 Graduates, 72 Post-
Graduates and 10 Doctorals. 32 Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal and 1 Cash
prize were awarded to the deserving degree recipients. University
2 Best Teacher awards, Best NSS Programme Officer and Best NSS unit
of SVVU for the academic year 2018-19 were also awarded to the
teaching faculty for their meritorious services.

DISTINGUISHED DIGNITARIES VISITED VETERINAY PATHOLOGY MUSEUM AT TIRUPATI
The distinguished delegations, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, the
Hon’ble Vice-President of India and Shri E.S.L. Narasimhan, the Hon’ble
Governor of Andhra Pradesh & Telengana and Chancellor visited the thmuseum on 24 April. The delegations expressed their immense
pleasure at the vast collection of specimens in the museum composed
of variety of specimens and their well execution. The delegations well
appreciated the team efforts of all the staff of Veterinary Pathology and
felt that this museum should be a model for others and needs to be

PME CELL CREATED IN SVVU
The university has created the Internal Quality Assurance
(IQA) and Prioritizing, Monitoring and Evaluation (PME) Cell at
Administrative Office, SVVU, Tirupati. The cell act as documentation
and record keeping cell and will be responsible for systematic planning,
implementation, monitoring and evaluation of research projects in the
university. The cell is working under the control of Direction of
Extension. Dr. N. Sailaja, Professor (VPP), CCVEC is nominated as
Coordinator of PME cell of SVVU.

The building of Dr. Prathap V. Reddy Feed & Forage Analytical
Laboratory donated by him and inaugurated by his mother, Smt V.
Seethmma, in the premises of C.V.Sc, Tirupati. The University Officers thand staff, and Dr. Jawahar Reddy, IAS attended for this on 29 April. The
laboratory building and equipment was donated by Dr.Prathap V.
Reddy, alumnus of this college. The facility and services are useful for
researchers as well as farmers of the country.

The First Floor of Alumni Home was inaugurated by Dr. Jawahar

Nanyata Parirakshana mariyu Neeti Pramanala Nirdharana” was
organized for 30 fishermen by Dr. B. Chamundeswri Devi, Principal
Scientist and Head, Fisheries Research Station, Kakinada at P. Mallavaram,
East Godavari district. The Chief Guest, Dr. P. Madhavi Latha, Assistant
Director of Fisheries, State Institute of Fisheries Technology,
Kakinada, and NSPAAD Project In-charge explained about Best
Management Practices of shrimp culture and water quality
management for prevention of diseases. The guest speaker, Dr. P.
Ram Mohan Rao, Deputy Director, (Retired) State Institute of
Fisheries Technology narrated the importance of water quality
parameters and their management in aquaculture. He released
booklet on 'Aqua Sagulo Neeti Nanyatha Parirakshana mariyu Neeti

Dr. S. Shakila, PI of Poultry Seed Project-ICAR- SCS Project & Head, Department of Poultry Science, C.V.Sc, Tirupati in collaboration with CCVEC, organized Vanaraja birds distribution program for 22 women SC/ST beneficiaries of Vudamalapadu village, Chittoor district
thon 11 June. To each of beneficiary, 20 Vanaraja birds, feeder, waterer and 2 kg feed were distributed. Dr. Y. Hari Babu, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, SVVU as the Chief Guest, distributed the birds. Other dignitaries, Dr. T. S. Chandrasekhara Rao, Dean of Veterinary Science, Dr. D. Sreenivasulu, Director of Research i/c, Dr. K. Nalini Kumari Associate Dean and Dr. A. Ravi, Department of Animal Nutrition graced the occasion and distributed Vanaraja birds and the kit comprising the feeder, waterer and 2kg feed to the beneficiaries. The birds were supplied at the age of 8 weeks at free of cost to SC/ST beneficiaries. Dr. S. Shakila explained about the managemental practices of birds and the potentiality of Vanaraja birds that they lay 160 eggs/year and grow up to 1.75-2.0 Kg live weight at the age of 4-4½ months age. thOn 14 June, CCVEC organized an awareness program on
mastitis control in cattle at Venkatayapalem, Chittoor district.

Dr. D. Raniprameela, Professor, SLDL and Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Contract
Assistant Professor attended the program. Dr. D. Raniprameela demonstrated
the technique for screening of subclinical mastitis in cattle by using the
detergent Surfexcel at field level. Dr. D. Sreenivasulu narrated the mastitis
pathogenesis and control. Dr.J.Suresh explained the managemental practices
in cattle and calf rearing. Dr. D. Srinivasa Rao summated the tips in mastitis
control. The DVD was played on mastitis controlprogram in cattle for the
benefit of farmers.
thOn 28 June, CCVEC in collaboration with PI of Poultry Seed
Project, Dr. S. Shakila along with the co-investigators, Dr.G.Triveni and
Dr. B. Punyakumari organized the Vanaraja chicks distribution program
for women SC/ST beneficiaries at SOS Children's village, Chittoor

on Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) for livestock th nddevelopment at ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad from 16 -22 May as a part
of human capacity building of NAHEP-IG project of SVVU.

On this occasion, in NTR College of Veterinary Science at
Gannavaram, Dr. Kiran Ambatipudi from the Department of
Biotechnology, IIT, Roorke as invited an special guest, delivered a
lecture on “Proteomics in vaccine design”. The faculty and students of
the college have participated in this program. Later Dr. Ambatipudi
had interacted with students and spoke about opportunities for
World Veterinary Day celebration at C.V.Sc., Tirupati
between PIU & PME officials is very pertinent to keep the entire NAHEP
functioning at similar level of understanding and implementing the
stated objectives of the project. Stakeholders were acquainted with
M&E frame work of NAHEP.

SVVU CELEBRATED WORLD VETERINARY DAY
At C.V.Sc., Tirupati World Veterinary Day with the theme of
this year 'Importance of vaccination' was celebrated enthusiastically in
the College Auditorium. On this auspicious day, a guest lecture by Dr.
Alladi Mohan, M.D., (AIIMS, New Delhi), Professor & Head, Dept. of
Medicine, SVIMS, Tirupati, was arranged at 11.30 A.M. at College
Auditorium, C.V.Sc., T irupati, who delivered a lecture on
“Vaccinations.”

“May Day” was celebrated at Model Class Room for which
Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor and University Officers attended. All the
outsourcing and time scale employees attended the programme.

ETHNIC DAY CELEBRATED AT C.V.Sc., TIRUPATIndEthnic Day was celebrated at C.V.Sc., Tirupati on 2 May. All
the staff members attended their regular duties in ethnic wear. An
occasion was organized to mark this day, in the presence of Hon'ble
Vice-Chancellor, Dr.Y.Hari Babu garu and University Officers.
INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATEDstInternational Yoga Day was observed on 21 June at different
institutions of the University.
In AHP, Banavasi, Dr. Damodaram, Yoga Guru taught the
importance of Yoga in every day's life and plasticized some yoga asanas
by staff and students.

COLLEGE DAY CELEBRATIONS AT CDT, TIRUPATI
College of Dairy Technology, Tirupati celebrated its College
ndDay on 2 April. Dr. Y. Hari Babu, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor as Chief Guest
and other dignitaries, Dr. V. Padmanabha Reddy, Dean, Faculty of Dairy
Science and Dr. K. Sarjan Rao, Dean of Student Affairs attended it. Dr. Y.
Kotilinga Reddy, Associate Dean briefed about the college activities
during the academic year. The guests distributed prizes to students,
teaching and non-teaching staff who had won at different sports and
games organized on this occasion.

GUEST LECTURE BY FACULTY AT NTR C.V.Sc., GANNAVARAM
Dr. M. Jayaseelan, Professor of Biotechnology at SRM
University, Amaravati visited the NTR College of Veterinary Science, thGannavaram on 25 April and delivered a talk on “Proteomics and
Antimicrobial Resistance.” During his lecture he covered topics on host-
pathogen interactions, how quantitative proteomics would be useful in
analysing infectious microorganisms and MALDI-TOF based species
identification in bacteria. The faculty and students of the NTR College of
Veterinary Science, Gannavaram have participated and interacted with
Dr. Jayaseelan.

with CDT Students Association Gold Medal and Dr. Mandati Anuradha th thGold Medal for girl student at the 8 SVVU Convocation held on 24
April, 2019.
Hostel day celebrations at CVSc, Tirupati
Dr. M. Jayaseelan, Professor of Biotechnology at SRM University, Amaravati visited NTR
CVSc, Gannavaram
Mr. Akhilesh Kumar Gupta and Mr. Arun Kumar Shakya of
2015-16 outgoing batch students of CDT, Tirupati cleared the GATE and
got admission in Food Technology Management and Food Quality
Management, respectively, at National Institute of Food Technology
Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM), an Autonomous
Institute under the Ministry of Food Processing, Govt. of India.
In the campus interviews conducted by placement cell of the
CDT, Tirupati for the outgoing 2015-16 batch students, M/s. Godrej
Creamline Jersey offered placement for 3 students in Sangam Dairy,
APPDCF and M/s. Heritage Foods Pvt. Ltd., with the pay package from
Rs. 2.25 - 3.00 lakh per annum.
TRIBAL SUB PLAN PROGRAMME IMPLEMENTED AT LRS, PALAMANER
The Tribal Sub Plan programme, a part of NWPSI, ICAR
project at LRS, Palamaner was implemented in the villages of
G. Madugula, V ishakapatnam (dt) and J iyammavalasa,
Vijayanagaram (dt) on 01 and 0 June, 2019 respectively.
Dr. G. Gangaraju, Principal Scientist and Head, Livestock Research
Station, Palamaner and Dr.P.Malakondaiah, Principal Scientist and
Head, LRS, Garividi distributed ten mini sheep units to beneficiaries
belonging to Schedule Tribes from each village. Each of the unit was
comprised of five ewes and one ram and also one fed trough, 50kg
pellet feed bag, medicines and mineral mixture. Dr.G.Gangaraju
enlightened about management and feeding practices to
shepherds. Dr. S. Vijayalakshmi, Scientist, LRS, Dr. M. Krishnaveni,
VAS, ISDP, Visakapatnam, Dr. Jagadeesh, and Dr. Sumathi Rani, VAS,
attended the Programme.

Training program on “Diagnostic Techniques in Aquatic Animal Health Management”-
release of Training Manual
One day training program for 40 sheep farmers from NP
Kuntamandal, Anantapur district was conducted at Livestock Research thStation, Palamaner on 14 June as a part of exposure visit of Foundation
for Ecological Society (FES) -NABARD- KfW soil project supported by
Royal Bank of Scottland. The farmers were enlightened with improvised
feeding practices of sheep, availability and suitability of different types
of fodders, occurrence of seasonal diseases, and their preventive and
control measures towards encouraging livestock rearing by

Three Day hands-on training programme on “Diagnostic
Techniques in Aquatic Animal Health Management” was organized th thfrom 13 -15 May for 25 Assistant Professors from Tamil Nadu, Andhra
Pradesh and Karnataka states. The Course director was Dr. T. Neeraja,
Associate Professor and Head, Department of Animal Health
Management, College of Fishery Science, Muthukur. The basic
concepts in Disease diagnosis, etiological agents of various diseases of
fish and shrimp, importance of diseases in culture systems and different
methods/tools in isolation and identification of pathogens by
conventional and molecular techniques were imparted to the trainees.

Techniques Adopted in Fisheries Biology” was conducted by Dr.
A.Balusubramanian, Professor & Head, Department of Fisheries thResource Management, College of Fishery Science, Muthukur, from 6
thto 8 May, 2019. The training was conducted on various aspects of
Fisheries Biology like collection, preservation and cataloguing of fish
specimens, general anatomy and taxonomy of fishes, feeding and
reproductive biology of fishes and techniques in fish stock assessment.
