The Board of Directors thank Gayan Abeysundara for volunteering his time and effort in preparing this web site. 2005 Annual Scholarship Award Ceremony The annual scholarship awarding ceremony for 2005 was held on August 27, at Sri Sudassanaramaya, Battaramulla, Sri Lanka, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This ceremony was presided by our Patron and Advisor of the Foundation, Venerable Dr. Mirisse Dhammika, with the participation of 78 new students, their parents, some of the scholarship sponsors and other well wishers of the foundation. These students were selected from over 2000 applications received, based on their G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) examination results in 2005, the income per family member and considering other special circumstances (such as, deceased parents). The chief guest for the occasion was Mr. K.M.D.S. Jayathilaka – the deputy principal (retired) of Ananda College, Colombo. The President of SLCSF, Mr. Lakshman Perera and Mrs. Perera also participated as they were in Sri Lanka on a private visit. 2005 Annual Scholarship AwardCeremony

The annual scholarship awardingceremony for 2005 was held onAugust 27, at Sri Sudassanaramaya,Battaramulla, Sri Lanka, from 10:00AM to 4:00 PM. This ceremony waspresided by our Patron and Advisor ofthe Foundation, Venerable Dr. MirisseDhammika, with the participation of 78new students, their parents, some ofthe scholarship sponsors and otherwell wishers of the foundation. Scholarship award certificates andstudy packs were distributed to all newscholarship recipients. Lunch andrefreshments were provided for all theparticipants, with the generosity ofVenerable Dr. Mirisse Dhammika andthe Parami Organization inBattaramulla, Sri Lanka.

We thank all the students and theirparents for participation, aftertravelling long distances from remotevillages and cities in some cases. Wealso thank the scholarship sponsorswho participated and awardedcertificates to the students they havesponsored. Our thanks also go toVenerable Dhammika, Mrs. SeethaGoonetilleke and all other supportersin organizing this successful event!

New Scholarship Awards for 2005

This year, we have awarded 78scholarships. This is the highestnumber awarded during a year sincethe inception of the Foundation.

While many of the students we haveselected have obtained 10 A’s, all ofthem have obtained at least 9 A’s inthe G.C.E. (Ordinary Level)examination in 2005.

Recipients of Ranjan de SilvaMemorial Scholarships

Mr. Ranjit de Silva, Mrs. Dora de Silvaand Ms. Liza de Silva in Vancouver,British Columbia, Canada, haveestablished the Ranjan de SilvaMemorial Scholarship Fund in 2002, inmemory of late Mr. Ranjan de Silva.The de Silva family has entrusted theSri Lanka Canada ScholarshipFoundation to administer thisscholarship fund on their behalf andselect suitable recipients annually.

This fund is used to awardscholarships to one or more first yearEngineering Faculty student(s) in SriLankan Universities for a period of oneyear. A monthly award of Rs 1000.00is provided for one year to each of theselected students. The main selectioncriteria will be the financial status ofthe student’s family and the academicexcellence of the student, based onthe results of the G.C.E. A/Lexamination.

The following special donations have been made during 2005, in meeting somespecific expenses of the foundation. These may not be shown in Annual FinancialStatements, as most of these have been directly paid by the donors. We thank thefollowing donors for the special donations:

For sponsoring a scholarship, the financial commitment needed is either Canadian$135.00 or US $90.00 per year for 2 years, or, SL Rupees 15,000 for two years.
