It gives me immense pleasure to present the 21st Annual activity report of Bhaktivedanta Hospital & Research Institute - A project of Sri Chaitanya Seva Trust. We are proud to state that the NABH Quality Accreditation has given us credibility not only in India but also outside the country. Medical Research and USFDA Approval for Research have he lped grow Bhaktivedanta Hospital’s reputation even more. The public’s faith in our hospital is reflected in the growing demand for our services.

I am glad to inform you that the construction of our hospital’s annexe building will have the prime focus on Oncology (including radiation), Eye Care and a State-of-the-Art intensive care unit. We will be increasing our bed capacity by 100 beds.

Thus we are preparing ourselves to meet the health needs of today and tomorrow, while anticipating the growing demands of current health care scenario.

While there is still a long road ahead, we are confident that we will grow with the support of the doctors, staff and well-wishers.

We would like to be grounded always with focus on service as envisioned by His Holiness Radhanath Swami and His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada.

The response for the caregiver course is encouraging and we would like to train more rural & tribal youth in healthcare related activities which will provide greater employment opportunities.

I congratulate the staff, doctors and the entire team of Bhaktivedanta Hospital in this wonderful journey of 21 years. I pray that Sri Chaitanya Seva Trust makes a lasting impact in the society with services in Healthcare, Rural Development and Skill Development initiatives.

It’s a year of fulfillment for us at Bhaktivedanta Hospital & Research Institute.

It has been a great journey over the years, seeing the peaks and valleys, to where we stand now. Our motivation for pursuit of our goals has not wavered a bit through this journey over 21 years.

We have over two decades of service which has taught us many lessons and

challenges. However remaining focused on service to the needy has helped us to grow over the years. We have remained relentless during all these times in keeping patient at the core of all that we do and bring back smiles.

The quality enhancement is a continuous process and NABH Accreditation is just a beginning. We were recently awarded with Mahatma Award for Social Good in New York, USA. It is our desire that we create more such opportunities for awards by the dedicated services year on year.

India has made striking progress in health care delivery over the years. With the introduction of AYUSH, I am sure Bhaktivedanta Hospital will make a great contribution in the years to come.

Today there is an immense need and demand for serving the community at a nominal and affordable rate. We are taking on this challenge by reaching out to the community through our rural & tribal outreach. The community outreach through 700+ camps annually brings credibility and helps building faith amongst the community.

All this would not have been possible without the support of the Staff, Doctors, the Community, Donors, Well-wishers, Volunteers, Health Forum, etc

I whole heartedly thank everyone of you for your un-stinted support and look forward to work with you to make 2019 a year of more dedicated services and success.

Cancer Care

Cardiac Care

The increasing incidence of cancer is a dominant factor for the Hospital to respond to the growing needs of quality cancer care. Our objective is to provide quality cancer care at affordable cost.

Owing to the expensive treatment of the disease, patients do not take full treatment and choose to live with the disease.

Bhaktivedanta Hospital conducts regular Cancer Screening camps to identify and operate cancer patients at an early stage.

@

@

@

Our mission is to offer timely heart care to all at reasonable rates.

We constantly educate the masses by creating awareness and conducting cardiac camps at various locations.

Identified patients needing care and attention are brought to our hospital and requisite surgeries are performed.

@

@

@

Kidney Care

The lifestyle changes have increased the incidence of disorders related to kidney.

2,00,000 new patients need dialysis treatment every year in India. But the unfortunate reality is that only 10 to 20% of them get proper treatment.

To address this issue, the kidney care programme of the Hospital offers dialysis to patients on concessional rates/free of cost for those who are unable to bear its cost.

@

@

@

Barsana Health Care

In Barsana and adjoining 120 villages of Uttar Pradesh, every year 6500+ villagers go blind due to Cataract and only about 4000 get treated by various NGO’s and our Barsana Health Care Centre.

Due to non-availability of service providers and economic background there is a backlog of over 25000 unmet Cataract surgeries.

This falls under avoidable blindness and as per our experience and estimate, more than 75 % of them are over 60 years of age.

If identified and operated for cataract, they get their eye sight back and become independent in functioning.

Hospice & Palliative Care

Care Through Camp

In India, more than 7 million people suffer from pain and other symptoms due to terminal illnesses such as Cancer, Cirrhosis of Liver, HIV/AIDS, etc.

These people have no access to adequate palliative health services due to non availability of such services.

Bhaktivedanta Hospice located at Vrindavan (Uttar Pradesh) offers hospice & palliative care services like Counseling, Nursing care, Pain management, Symptom Management and other Complementary Therapies free of cost to such terminally-ill patients.

While healthcare has become one of India’s largest sectors – both in terms of revenue and employment, there is still a huge gap in providing primary care to the rural and tribal population.

Door-step clinics/ Outreach camps organized by Bhaktivedanta Hospital reaches out to interiors of rural & tribal areas to benefit the communities that do not have access to general as well as specialized health care facilities.

It also acts as a very powerful tool to create awareness and sensitize the rural population about the importance of preventive and positive health practices.

Spiritual Care

The emerging discussion on Trust Deficit leads us to search for the missing prescription in healthcare delivery - ‘Spiritual Care Support System’.

People not only need physical care but also counseling for addressing mental, emotional and spiritual needs.

On one hand Spiritual Care Service is cost effective service and on the other hand it results in overall improvement in health.

It positively affects patients and their immediate relatives by improved relationships and better health.

Ours is a fusion of Vedic ideology and modern science where the focus is on ‘living in harmony with the environment’ and developing spiritual ecology that can bring about tangible and positive changes in humanity. For example our Water Resource Development initiatives have helped 5500+ villagers.

The stark reality of the ageing scenario in India is that there are 77 million older persons in India

today, and the number is growing to be 177 million in another 25 years.

The elderly population in India is continuously increasing and also the problems faced by these

people are increasing simultaneously.

The number of people in old age homes is constantly increasing and also most of the parents are

now deciding to live in old age homes rather than living with their children.

On the other hand, majority of the youth who are without any jobs are merely 8th -12th passed/

school drop-outs and are unable to get a respectable job in the current competitive situation.

Bhaktivedanta Hospital & Research Institute is well recognized for training the youth to become

home health care givers. Emphasis is on to realize their duties towards senior citizens and to take

all the necessary efforts to bring a smile on their face. Efforts are on to provide other courses like

dialysis technician, OT technician etc... and skill them for employability.

Share Your Care

As India moves ahead with full force in all the sectors, a large section of our population in rural and underserved areas still does not have access to affordable and quality health care facilities.Share Your Care, the resources arm of Sri Chaitanya Seva Trust, has time and again proved its sensitivity to the requirements of the needy. We are constantly striving, through our myriad efforts, to bring about a positive change in the lives of these communities. Through our initiatives we have tried to address health care and other issues in rural and tribal areas through diverse intervention strategies.During the year 2017-18 our initiatives have created the following impact:- 1) 700 + free rural and tribal health camps. 2) 2,50,000+ people provided with free/concessional medical services. 3) 120+ youth provided employment through Care Giver training. 4) 1,00,000+ lives across 50+ villages impacted through Rural Development programme. We have embarked on a mission to construct approximately 1.13 lakh sq.ft. health care facility focusing on Cancer, Eye and Intensive Care Units. We are working to develop over 50 villages of Wada in Palghar district of Maharashtra through Integrated Rural Development Programmes. We learn of abundance from ocean which accommodates all living entities big or small.
