television developed by Orbital Science Corporation (OSC) for the PanAmSat Corporation

Launching Information
The Galaxy 14 satellite is the seventh Orbital-built GEO satellite to be completed and launched
Starsem used the Soyuz version rocket equipped with a Fregat upper stage, which will perform two successive burns to place Galaxy 14 on its transfer orbit 1 hr. 37 min. after liftoff from the Baikonur Cosmodrome
The Galaxy 14 satellite was deployed into a transfer orbit about 90 minutes after lift-off
After several days, Galaxy 14 performed a series of orbit-raising "burns" of its on-board rocket engine to achieve a circular orbit approximately 22,300 miles above the Earth

location at 125 degrees West longitude
Galaxy 14 has a liftoff mass of 2,087 kg and was be co-located with PanAmSat's Galaxy 12 satellite at an orbital slot of 125 deg West
It is designed to provide digital video programming, high-definition television (HDTV) and other fixed satellite services

It delivers digital video programming, high-definition television (HDTV), video on demand and Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) service throughout the continental United States
This relay satellite provides television signals mostly for the east coast, including ESPN, Lifetime, Sci-Fi, CNN, A&E and The History Channel
