Course Outline
The Alcatel-Lucent Border Gateway Protocol course provides an in-depth look at border gateway protocol (BGP), the Internet’s backbone routing protocol, with a step-by-step analysis of its components. Upon successful completion of this course, students will have an excellent understanding of the theory and configuration requirements of BGP.

CREDIT TOWARD CERTIFICATION
Alcatel-Lucent Service Routing Architect
DURATION
4 days (classroom hours and in-depth lab training)
RECOMMENDED COURSE PREREQUISITES
Alcatel-Lucent Scalable IP Networks and Alcatel-Lucent Interior Routing Protocols courses or solid experience in the configuration and operation of IP routing protocols
EXAM
Alcatel-Lucent Border Gateway Protocol (4A0-102)
IP ROUTING CERTIFICATIONS
If you have already received knowledge certification by one of the organizations identified in the following table, and your certification is still valid, you may receive credit towards prerequisite IP Routing exams in the Alcatel-Lucent Service Routing Certifi cation program. On validation, you will receive exemptions based on the certifications that you hold. For example, an indivi dual who holds a valid and active CCIE will be exempted from exams 4A0-100, 4A0-101 and 4A0-102.

Alcatel-Lucent Border Gateway Protocol
COURSE OBJECTIVES After completing the course, students should be able to:• Understand the scope of and need for BGP• Demonstrate a sound understanding BGP mechanics and
the role of BGP attributes• Explain the interaction between BGP and interior gateway
protocol (IGP)• Successfully configure, monitor and troubleshoot a network
of multiple BGP peers• Configure, monitor and troubleshoot transit autonomous systems• Understand the need for and the applications of BGP policies• Describe the requirements for configuring internal BGP
(iBGP) peers, including route reflectors• Implement BGP policies, and verify and troubleshoot the
results of the policies• Understand the need to influence BGP route selection and
how to control route selection with BGP attributes• Monitor, troubleshoot and repair traffic paths
