The Vision Becomes RealityLast year, The Brick Companies had a vision to build a private havenaround the already incredible South River Gol Links. Ater severalmonths o research, meeting with local ocus groups and a careully

selected steering committee, that vision has become reality -The Gol Club at South River.

It is with great anticipation and ecitementthat we have become new members oThe Gol Club.Members Paul and Lynn Matthews

On Founder Day, a silent auction coordinated

by Charlie Birney, Executive Director of

The Brick Companies, was held benefiting the

Boys and Girls Club of Anne Arundel County

and raised over $7,000. The top auction item,

the opportunity to be Founder Member ONE in

The Golf Club at South River, was awarded to

Ron & Kathleen Taylor. Terrance Gilliam won

the wine locker in the Club and a beautiful set

of The Golf Club at South River Riedel glasses

along with a magnum decanter and bottle of

Pine Ridge from the Bacchus private cellars.

RenovationCelebration

On October 9th, The Brick Companies, The Development

Team, Members and Special Guests gathered at the Club

Pavilion for a special announcement made by Lex Birney,

CEO of The Brick Companies.

PERMITTING IS UNDERWAY for Phase I of the Clubhouse

renovationssomething that is not included in the original

membership plan, however, the Ownership has decided to move

forward as soon as possible to provide a Member hideaway while

the Club continues to reach its full compliment of Members. TheGolf Shop Operations will move to an outside location to continue

to offer service to public play for the golf course, while the

construction of the main level of the Clubhouse begins.

With re-opening of the Clubhouse scheduled for shortly after the

New Year, only Members and their Guests will be allowed to access

the new Club Quarters. The new Clubhouse will feature a double

sided fireplace for fireside dining and a warm soft seating parlor.

The re-designed kitchen will present an expanded contemporary

lunch, dinner and brunch menu. The comfy full service bar will

feature a wine cuvee system and a delicious appetizer menu.

Seeing blue to be more green!

Yes, really. More and more golers (pros and amateurs) are turning to yoga to improve theirgame. In act, some o the top gol schools in the country now ofer yoga as part o their golinstruction packages. It doesnt stop there. Pro ootball and baseball teams are incorporating itinto their practices, including the current Super Bowl Champions, the New York Giants.

It was our goal in 2007 to attract birdspecies that were not widely seen on ourcourse. We chose to ocus on bluebirds.We researched the birds needs andinvested in the materials to constructeight houses or nesting. AssistantSuperintendant Dave Osterhouse wasin charge o the construction placementand monitoring o the nesting sites.
