Wait LiStWhen classes have reached their maximum capacity, a wait list is started and kept in the order of the requests. Those on the wait list will be contacted if an opening becomes available.

FinanciaL aid Financial Aid is available for qualifying residents with financial limitations. Complete a financial aid application, which can be found online. Include the programs desired and amount you can afford. Once your application is received by the recreation manager, you will be contacted within 72 hours.

about our rec LeadersWe hire only the most enthusiatic, talented recreation leaders for our programs. Their background is checked before being hired and they receive CPR and First Aid certifications. Our recreation leaders have a passion for child development and spend over 20 hours in training before working at any of our programs or events.

Youth programS ageS 3 - 11

play all day A new option for children ages 7-11. Register for Play All Day which includes that week’s morning program through the afternoon program. Children must bring a brown bag lunch each day and will eat with recreation staff. Play All Day fee is a total of the morning and afternoon sessions plus $10.

Kids and parents will have the opportunity to meet the Recreation Leaders, play a few traditional camp games, make a craft and meet new friends. Fish Finders (Ages 7-11) Learn how to tie knots, safely cast, catch and release and challenge yourself with fish identification. Kidcreate Studio will lead our group in a special clay project on Wednesday. Science Fanatics (Ages 7-11) In this camp, we will use the scientific method to enjoy some hands-on backyard experiments along with a visit from High Touch High Tech. archery and outdoor cooking (Ages 7-11) Campers will learn basic archery and simple outdoor cooking recipes. Learn proper archery techniques to improve skill through instruction and games. Campers will help build fire and prepare their own food while staff will handle lighting the fire and placing food over fire to cook. Campers will make pizza pockets, fried banana dough, orange campfire cakes and more. No experience necessary and all equipment is provided. dodgeball diehards (Ages 7-11) Dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge. Yes, a camp all about dodgeball, we will play a variety of games that are dodgeball related. WeeK oF aug. 6-10olympic adventure camp (Ages 7-11)You are invited to compete in the Prior Lake Olympics. Campers will represent their created country in camp-style Olympic activities that promote teamwork and activities inspired by Olympic events. Use your skills and learn some too, in order to shoot an arrow, swim with style, throw like a pro, and zig and zag through courses to win the gold! Bring lunch, water bottle, sunscreen, swimwear and towel each day. During the Thursday overnight at Cleary Lake Park (not required) participants will pitch a tent and camp out (dinner and light breakfast provided for overnight). Bring bug spray, water bottle, sleeping bag, pillow, sleep wear, flashlight, and toothbrush/paste. Waterski Lessons with trevor pope (Ages 7+)Try beginner to advanced waterski lessons on Prior Lake this summer. Trevor has been part of the Prior Lake Waterski Association and Shockwaves Waterski Association for over 17 years. In the event of a rainout, make-up lessons are the Thursday of the session week. Participants may bring their own life jacket; otherwise, all other equipment is provided. Junior Leader program (Ages 12-15)Junior Leaders (JL) assist Recreation Leaders with 3-6-year-old programs. While assisting, JLs will be building leadership skills, increasing community involvement, providing positive role models and increasing knowledge for future job skills. Duties will include helping with check-in and check-out, setting up, participating in and eventually leading activities. We will go over expectations, rules, distribute shirts, and meet staff the first day of each session. At time of registration you will select your session dates and times. Kop Family community garden Join the community garden, the Kop Family Community garden is located at Lakefront Park. There are 50 total plots in the garden, all are 10’ x 20’ in size. Plots can be rented for a season and are filled according to the order of registration. Registration is now open. Limit one plot per household per season. Lakefront park enclosed pavilion & gazebo rentalThe Lakefront Park Pavilion is an enclosed building suitable for small weddings, graduation parties, family reunions or meetings. The maximum capacity allowed for a rental group is 150 people, this includes seating for 60 indoor and seating for 90 outdoor. Available rental hours are 8 a.m. – midnight. No reservations from December 1 – March due to the operation of the Pavilion as a warming house. Request a tour appointment by calling the Recreation Department, Monday - Friday between 8:30-4pm, minimum of 48 hour notice is required. Reservation details are final once submitted. Adjustment to location, time, or date must be made 10 or more days in advance, a fee of $55 is owed at the time of the adjustment. Reservations are accepted in the current calendar year.

canoe and Kayak rack rental Storage racks at Sand Point Beach and Watzl’s Beach can be reserved for the summer season: $60/Residents; $150/Non-Residents. The season is from April 1 – October 15. No watercraft may exceed the following dimensions: 20 feet in length, 36 inches in width and 20 inches in depth. Watercrafts MUST be secured to assigned rack by owner’s device at the front and rear.

Boat Slips There are 4 boat slips available at each Sand Point and Watzl’s Beach for seasonal rental. There are 5 boat slips available, at each location, for daytime use only, first come/first serve basis. There are also 6 slips at each location that are available for overnight rental with 3-day advanced reservation. Unreserved slips are available for daytime use only first come/first served. Access to all slips is available daily from 5 am -10 pm ONLY. No person is permitted in the park or at an overnight slip outside of park hours. Overnight boat slip rental is not available at Watzl’s Beach: July 4, July 13-16, and August 3-6.

Seasonal SlipsThe City has eight boats slips to be designated for seasonal rental, four at Watzl’s Beach and four at Sand Point Beach. The fees for these rentals will be $3,500 per slip and reservations begin the first business day of each year. Each household and residential address is only allowed to rent one boat slip at any one time. The boat slip is available only for the watercraft listed on the application. There is a gate at the end of each dock which will be locked so no one other than the renters of those slips can enter and exit that part of the dock. The boat season will be from ice out as determined by City staff, through Oct. 31.
