The Summer months are upon us and it is a time for many of our church family to plan their vacations and I pray that they will have safe trips and enjoyable times getting away. With all the events going on in the world economically, politically, wars and rumors of wars, destruction and death, the ‘falling away and the love of many growing cold’ you can’t help but remember the words of Paul to Timothy in II Timothy 3, “…perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affections, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinenet, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” We are living in these ‘perilous times’ and the slide will continue toward the fulfillment of these verses and we should heed the words found in Hebrews 10, “don’t forsake the assembling of ourselves,… and so much more as ye see the day approaching.” Bro. I don’t know about you but I am shocked that the year is half over! It seems that the pace of life just continues to escalate and now we are on the downhill side of the year. The Summer months are upon us and it is a time for

Music // by Ross Burgess On a recent Sunday morning our pastor brought a wonderful message titled “Victory in Jesus”. As you would expect he talked about God’s gift of grace in Christ’s sacrifice and the ensuing victory over death. But it made me think about the song again and what it means to me. It was the opening song at my father’s funeral, and it is the usual “go to” song for this feeble music director when we need something that stirs up a celebration, such as one of those “one song” evening services when there is not enough time for the usual four song set. Also we often sing it while waiting for a new child of God to prepare for baptism. It reminds me of my childhood, all the way back to when I made my profession of faith as a boy. There is Victory in Jesus. It is not just something that was achieved when He was here, but it is an ongoing, con-tinuous victory in the life of each of His children. Come worship with us at Springhill and help us celebrate the Victory.

Summer is here and we are gearing up for fun. Hot weather won’t keep us from having a ball. This past quarter the Senior Saints have been busy. We started off the quarter with a fish fry in April with special guests Eddie and Joy Kelso. They shared their Prison Ministry with us. In May, we attended the Conway Men’s Chorus where they presented their Spring Concert. We are always excited when some of our own church members perform. We then took a trip to Branson for the day and attended the show “Joseph”. A wonderful performance! We are looking forward to attending the show “Jonah” next year. During June we took a trip out east to the big town of Keo!! You might be asking where is Keo and what would you be seeing there. We had lunch at Cotham (home of the Hubcap Burger) and then enjoyed our dessert at Charlotte’s Sweet Shop. What more could you ask? Upcoming activities will include a Barbecue Dinner with “Heaven’s Echo” performing, Trip to Branson to visit the Ralph Foster Museum, a Boat ride and picnic on Greers Ferry Lake. Watch for details for each of these events in the weekly bulletin. Sign up sheets are located at the Welcome Center. Remember anyone over 55 years of age are invited to attend any of the events. If you have questions or need additional information, please contact any member of the Senior Saints Committee: David & Brenda Mahan, Jerry & Christy Clifton, Bruce & Glenda Sims, Ronnie & Sue Tilley, Roland & Cindy Adams.

The temperature is not the only thing on the rise, the activity level here at the church is going up. We had a very successful church camp at Cold Springs Camp in June. I am very proud of Brian Ratliff, from Antioch Baptist Church, and Katie for the tremendous job they did orchestrating this camp. By the time you read this, Mandi Dunlap and Melody Lunsford will be home with the GMA girls from their camp in Gary, Texas. They have done a great job with our GMA program. But that’s not all, the last week of June we will be having our kid’s Bible school. Then the first week of July Bro. Colin and the youth spon-sors will be going to SOAR in Dallas, Texas. We put a lot of emphasis on our youth. The more we can teach them about Jesus Christ the stronger they will become in their everyday walk. The programs that follow the school year have come to a close, but our new summer programs are in place. Mathew Moix along with several of our men will be leading a new minis-try for our older kids called Centershot. They will be teaching the kids how to shoot a bow, but more importantly they will be teaching the kids how to make Jesus Christ the Center of their heart. Our summer program for our younger kids is called Camp Critters. They will be taught about God’s creation and the power of God through His creation. We have a lot of activi-ties and excellent leaders for our children, but the best leaders are parents and grandparents. We need to be faithful to di-rect and point our children toward Jesus Christ.

WOW! I can’t believe the school year is over and summer is in full swing! We had an awesome spring in the Youth and College departments and saw several great students graduate in May. Our high school graduates are moving on to the next phases of their lives, going to college around the state and starting full-time work! What a blessing they’ve been to our ministry and to Marla and me. Please pray for them as they prepare to start this new chapter of life. We also graduated several from our College group, Identity, back in May. We will definitely miss them, but are so proud of their accomplishments and look forward to seeing how the Lord will use them after college! Our annual trip to SOAR is July 1-4, and our students couldn’t be more excited. I want to thank our chaperones, sponsors, and everyone else in the church family who has helped to support this trip with your love offerings and prayers. It means so much to our students, and I thank you! We will spend the rest of the summer doing small group studies and having our regular fellowship time. Our Back to School Fellowship will be August 28th at the Youth Building (exact events/activities TBA). The College Group has dismissed for the summer, but is planning a fellowship retreat for later in July. We will resume our regular Bible study September 3rd. Thank you all so much for support of these ministries! Keep our students in your prayers this summer!

We have had a busy few months in the children’s department! We ended the school year with a fun Summer bash of games, snow cones, and a devotional led by Mrs. Annette Gartman on the “Armor of God”. We had around 50 kids to enjoy the festivities! The next week we headed off to camp with 31 campers from Springhill! We teamed up with Antioch Baptist in Conway for a fun new camp at Cold springs Camp Retreat in Conway, AR. We had 89 kids total to attend! We had a great time and made new friendships! The one complaint from the kids is that they wished it was longer than a week! Stephen Castleberry from Antioch was our camp pastor and did an amazing job connecting with the kids on how to apply different “apps” to their life! Planning meetings have already began for next year’s camp! Camp Critters and Archery started the second week of June. It will continue through the middle of August! The kids seem to be having a great time! The first night of Archery attendance was 24! Matthew Moix is doing an awesome job leading this ministry! I am so excited to see what lies ahead for these two ministries! VBS was a HUGE success this year! We averaged around 130 kids each night! We had an amazing volunteer team who helped keep everything running smoothly! We also had a huge help from Antioch Baptist in Conway! They sent 6 teenagers to come and help us during VBS! Springhill plans on going to help with their VBS at the end of this month! We also teamed up with Immanuel Baptist and Bethlehem Baptist in Greenbrier for our decorations! We made everything together and then plan on passing them along to each other! It is awesome to see how God has inspired friendships with our sister churches through camp and VBS! We have several other activities coming up in July including our Team Up Summer days and our Patriotic program at the end of July! Please be in prayer for the children’s ministry that we might grow in volunteers, leaders, and children!
