Greetings JSJH Families!
While looking for some sum-mer inspiration, I came across a new term called “summer anticipation disorder” in the Urban Dictionary.
Summer Anticipation Disor-
der: That point in a school
year, where summer break is
finally in sight but still seems so
far away. A moment in time
where it's still too early to say,
"Yay! It's almost summer!" but
late enough in the school year
where you just want to get out
of there. Worse yet, those big
scary exams are coming up,
and you probably have a pro-
ject or two that is worth more
than half your grade lying
around. Teachers are usually
completing their curriculums
around this time, and students
have gotten noticeably cockier.
Not to be confused with senior-
itis because this happens in
almost every school year.
Person 1: “Yay, summer's al-
most here!” Person 2: “Dude, summer is still five weeks away, chill out. You must have Summer Antici-pation Disorder.”
Hang in there! We still have many important events on the right around the corner:
Spring Testing Window, May 2-June 2 Our 9th grade AP students just
finished their exams. Now, it’s
our 7th and 8th graders’ turn.
We have taken steps to reduce
the amount of lost instructional
time by sharing technology
across the district. The result
is that 7th graders will have five
days of testing, 8th graders will
have six days, and 9th graders
will have 1-3, depending on
whether they are an AP student
or not.

Band and Choir News
By Ken Schroeder
As we rush to the end of the school year I wanted to take a look back at all of the activities that were highlights for 2015-16 in the music room. By the end of June our groups will have played four night concerts here at school, performed in six mu-sic festivals, taken four fieldtrips including two tours, and per-formed with the high school bands and choirs a few times.
In addition to our daily bands and choirs we had afterschool activities available as well. Jazz band met in the mornings twice a week. Jazz choir met in the afternoons twice a week also (when the power was not out). Finally, students interested in jazz improvisation met whenev-er we could.
Another great opportunity for
our 9th grade band students
was the ability to go up to the
high school to march with the
SK band. We had at least 11
students take advantage of this
awesome opportunity this year.
The SK marching band per-
formed (or will perform) in
Wenatchee, Seattle, Tacoma,
Portland, and Victoria BC.
