It takes the support, participation, and energy of each member to make our club so special, and I want thank each of you for making 2016-2017 such a fun- filled and amazing year! After a fabulous line-up of events and activities in the fall, the spring was equally as exciting! We hosted three Flower Show Workshops for our members – the Slideshow Workshop in January led by Liz Helfrich, the Hands On Workshop in February chaired by Murphey Sears and led by Shannon King, and the Horticulture Workshop in March led by Kathryn Beach and Tara McGraw! Thank you to everyone who helped plan these informative and insightful events to get our members ready for the spring Flower Show! Our Club’s 71st Annual Standard Flower Show took place on April 6th, and Chairman Joanne Gates and her committee did an awesome job preparing for the big event! Thank you to Stephanie Seay and her husband Michael for opening their lovely home to us for this event! There are so many people who helped make the Flower Show a success, so I would like to thank each of you who participated by submitting an entry, serving on the committee, volunteering the day of the show, or by attending the event and inviting friends. You each played a role in making it such a success! We have such talented members and it was so fun to see all the beautiful and creative entries! We hosted two general meetings this spring, the first one in January featuring NorthPark Center, who led a colorful fashion show and spring trend presentation at the beautiful home of Anne Williams. We had so much fun seeing several of our members strut their stuff as models! This was our annual evening meeting, and we had an incredible turnout with over 65 members in attendance. In March, Diane Sealy spoke to our club about creating arrangements for Flower Shows and gave our members some very helpful tips and ideas! Mrs. Sealy is a wealth of knowledge and was very gracious to lead this meeting and host it in her gorgeous home. Thank you to all our members who worked so hard to put on these fabulous meetings! It has been an honor serving as President of the Junior Group of the Dallas Garden Club this year, and I look forward to another exiting year of activities in 2017-2018! Sincerely, Allison Vanderwoude 2016-2017 Junior Group President
