Transcript of Spring Impact Groups
Why Impact Groups?
They’re biblical
Jesus traveled with his group of twelve disciples and shared his most
personal moments with his friends James, John and Peter. The first
Lord’s Supper (communion) was held with Jesus and the twelve in the
upper room of a house (Luke 22:10, 11). The New Testament often
mentions small groups (Impact Groups) of Christians meeting in houses
(Acts 16:40, Rom. 16:5, 1 Cor. 16:19).
They meet needs
Not only are Impact Groups (small groups) biblical, they are an ideal way
for the church to meet the needs of the people in our culture, both inside
and outside the church.
They’re evangelistic
Because Impact Groups meet the needs that many seekers bring to the
church, they become a powerful means of bringing the lost to Christ.
They build disciples
Of course seekers are not the only ones who benefit from group
interaction. The New Testament gives us a great picture of how God
intends for believers to interact with one another. We are to instruct one
another (Rom. 15:14), encourage one another (1 Th. 4:18), serve one
another (Gal. 5:13), and carry one another’s burdens (Gal. 6:2). The New
Testament has at least 59 of these “one another” passages.
Understanding the Different Types of Groups
Men – These men only focus on what the Bible has to say about men and
being a man. Some of the groups may have a general study topic with the
discussion focusing on circumstances, difficulties, victories, and
temptations that men will face.
Women – As with the men, these groups address topics and studies that
are relevant to women and how the Bible impacts us at whatever stage of
life we are in. Groups may have a general study topic with the discussion
focusing on circumstances, difficulties, victories, and temptations that
women face.
Mixed – Mixed Impact Groups focus on a wide variety of subjects and
studies that can focus on individual growth or the growth of a couple
(marriage and parenting).
How Do I Use This Guide?
We have organized the Guide into an ‘At a glance’ quick reference organized by
day, so you can quickly identify a Group based on your schedule and by gender
(men, women and mixed.) Once you have identified the Group for you then
simply look up the corresponding number (IG#) in the remaining ‘Group Topic’
pages.
How Do I Sign Up For A Group?
As you look through the different groups offered in the 2012 Spring semester
you’ll notice a number by each group. If you want to sign up for a particular
group you will use that number as the reference on the Communication Card in
Sunday’s bulletin where it says Sign Me Up For Impact Group # .
Make sure you also fill out the rest of the card so the Group leader has your
contact info to follow up with you. Put the card in one of the giving boxes or
you can sign up at the Impact Info Table in the lobby.
How Long Does A Group Last?
Our groups last 8 to 12 weeks. At the end of 12 weeks we take a short break and
form new groups. If the same group is offered continually you can be in that
group from semester to semester but you will have to sign up each time.

Married People IG# 5
Leader: Darren & Kathi Stewart
Tuesdays @ 7 PM Mixed
Location: Stewart’s home
9118 Spiral Woods, Universal City
Childcare: YES Starts 2/12 and ends 4/9 What’s the problem? The great news is that we all want
to have a great marriage and most of us are willing to
do what it takes to have it. The bad news is most of us
don’t think we know what it takes because we have
been convinced that having a great marriage is VERY
complicated. What’s the answer? Here’s the really
good news: God’s way for marriage may not be easy to
live out, but it is certainly easy to understand. God gives
us only a few verses on how husbands and wives should
love each other. Maybe He did that on purpose. From
the precious few Scripture verses on marriage come the
core four Habits of a Great Marriage.
Cost: $9 order Vol. 1 at marriedpeople.org/
participant-guide.

promises provide the foundation for daily confidence,
joy and hope. With engaging video Sheila weaves pow-

trust in God that will sustain you for a lifetime.

you to establish a lifestyle as a parent in which you in-
vite others to invest in your children so they have other

power of quality moments together.

Work as Worship IG# 9
Leader: Kevin & Carolyn Adelsen
Thursdays @ 7 PM Mixed
Location: Adelsen’s home
3609 Macon Ave, Schertz
Childcare: NO Starts 2/7 and ends 4/4 Work is where we spend most of our waking hours.
We often forget to connect our faith to our work. We
don’t consider the reasons God may have us at our job.
We simply focus on how it makes us feel but, what if
we saw our work as an opportunity to worship. In this
study you will discover your mission in the market-
place. Around the conference table or around the
cubicle, you have an opportunity to worship the God
who created you. Cost: $15 at store.rightnow.org

others through the hospital, nursing home, and grief
ministries. The goal of this impact group is found in 1
Thessalonians 5:11, which calls upon us to encourage
and build one another up.

marriage and most of us are willing to do what it

think we know what it takes. The really good news is
God’s way for marriage may not be easy to live out,
