The Benefits of Recreation

One of the primary reasons people participate in recreational activities is to socialize with others, which can result in tremendous benefits for overall well-being.

Here are some other great reasons to participate in recreational activities:

Through recreation, people discover who they are as individuals and who they are as members of a group.

Participants learn the give and take of relationships, appropriate manners and customs, and the skills necessary to make and keep friends.

Recreation is important for all ages, but it is especially crucial during children’s formative years. Socializing opportunities through recreation are needed to support their social-emotional maturity into healthy adulthood.

Participation in recreation can also be a preventive and curative strategy to promote positive mental health and combat mental illness. Physical activity in socially supported groups has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety and depression, and reduce symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease.

Speak with one of our knowledgeable staff today to find out how you can become more involved

in our many social and recreational programs.
