Year 5 touched down at

Twickenham Rugby Stadium

this term. They participated

in a once in a lifetime experi-

ence, ‘Access all areas tour’.

Children got to participate in

a team player workshop

which highlighted their own

strengths.

Children visited the rugby museum and learnt some history

about the stadium as well as having the opportunity to go

into the England changing room and feel royal for the day by

sitting where the royal family would sit.

A great time was had by all and an experience was shared

that will last a long time. (Even for our resident Australian,

Mr Bird!)

Year 1 and Year 4 have been extremely lucky this

year. During their PE sessions, over a course of 5

weeks, Year 1 have received tennis coaching from

Dukes Meadow Tennis Club.

They have learnt how to control a ball using a

tennis racquet. Their skills have progressed

hugely, as has their hand-eye coordination. They

have learnt how to control their bodies and use

the correct hand position when striking with a

racquet. This has been organised through Sports

Impact as part of our government sports funding.

Some of the children in Year 4 will be chosen to

represent the school at a tennis tournament held

at Dukes Meadow Tennis Club later next term.

The children have thoroughly enjoyed their ses-

sions.

Spring 2017

Sporting Life Cont...

On 8th February, a team of 11, Year 5 and 6 boys participated in a

football tournament against 3 other schools. The first game

against Ivybridge was challenging with some great football. Our

defence managed to block the opposition by demonstrating some

excellent saves and great tackling. This was not enough to score

us a point. The match was a 0-0 draw!

The second game against Isleworth Town proved to be slightly

more difficult.

We attempted

some great shots

but unfortunate-

ly, finished with

a 2-0 loss!

Our final match

was against our

biggest rivals, St

Marys. We

demonstrated

some great de-

fence work again

and some excep-

tional passing. Although this was our best performance of the day,

it was still not enough to score us any points. The match ended

with another 0-0 draw.

The boys played exceptionally well throughout the afternoon. The

skills they demonstrated were commented on by all. They dis-

played great sportsmanship and were a credit to the school.

Sports Premium

This past term the children have

benefitted from specialist gym-

nastics teaching in year 3 and

fundamental skills teaching in

Reception. These lessons have

been organised and delivered as

part of our Sports Premium

funding from the Government. It has been a delight

to see so many children

engaged and learning

lots of new skills and

movements.
