IF WE COULD DREAM ABOUT OUR RETREAT HOUSE CHAPEL, we’d dream about refurbished pews. For those of you who have attended retreats in recent years, we probably do not need to tell you WHY we need replacements! For those of you who have not recently sat upon the pews, we can tell you that you would be dis-tracted by their bumpiness. For truth to tell, within the 50-year-old padding, the springs have sprung. This may make you laugh, but the experience does not, so we are told.

Easter Sunday, Kathy and George Reis dined with the Sisters, who said their goodbyes to an amazing couple. George was our IT person for over six years. An emergency call to George brought him from work or home in Tigard where he selflessly gave of his time and expertise with the computers. Kathy, an artist contributed her talents to the Retreat House Gift Shop and, with an eye for beauty and design, prepared the tables for a number of our auctions. We will miss them, their generous hearts and their great faith in the Lord Jesus! We pray for them as they begin a new chapter in their lives that takes them away from Oregon on a new adventure! May the road always rise to meet you, George and Kathy, don’t forget us!

In April, our first donation came from The Women’s Pro Life Tea, where the Sisters were the recipients of the “Unsung Heroes For Life” Award. Heather Renshaw, on behalf of the group, presented a check in the amount of $1,000 to the Sisters to refurbish the chapel. We are most grateful for their generosity! If you would like to make a contribution toward our renovation, please use the enclosed envelope, and may God reward you!

A special thanks to Karenna Fields and Kathleen Gonsalves who co-chaired this year’s event and to the com-mittees that transformed the retreat house into a magical place where guests enjoyed food, wine, music and conviviality! The net proceeds from the Auction of $22,476.00 will go toward the purchase of upholstered chairs for retreatant rooms. May God reward all who gave of themselves to make this a successful event!
