gestuz spring 2011

Beautiful, stylish French women such as Jane Birkin and Vanessa Paradis provide the inspiration for a sensual, seductive Gestuz look — with a touch of Parisian arrogance. Ethnic elegance is combined with warm colours and classic, exquisite Gestuz materials — silk, leather and light cotton — to give a genuine 70s feel. Gestuz reinterprets the

true femme fatale anno 2011.

for the gestuz spring collection 2011, the design team has taken its inspiration from the sophisticated paris of the 70s and the north african hippie culture of the 60s. the biggest rock musicians of the time all found their way to morocco, and africa

was a major source of inspiration for both their lifestyle and their music. gestuz’s design dna is strongly rooted in the rock music, and with this collection there are

clear references to the culture: the expression is one of freedom and room for change.

the characteristically raw gestuz tone is reinterpreted in a flirtatious, luxurious 70s bohemian look. the details are extremely well worked and the silhouettes are striking: either tight fitting or volume. as usual, the focus is on the waist,

shoulders and length.

gestuz is known for its leather design, and in this collection it is more in focus than ever. added to the season’s tight-fitting leather dress is a draped waterfall in silk, and with fabulous leather jackets in colours including a warm cognac, gestuz shows its unique ability to combine a strong, rock look with luxurious feminine details. taking its inspiration from an authentic moroccan mosque, designer tilde

bjerregaard has come up with a spectacular vest in leather mosaic — fully expressing the collection’s vintage feeling.

the colours are muted and dusty, yet with a gilded touch: beige, sand, olive green, cognac, peach, sky blue, cream and black.

the inspiration for the prints is taken from the aesthetic north african coastal landscape, the wildlife of the savannah and the sharp, shadowy images of the atlas

mountains.

as an alternative to the collection’s black dresses, beautiful floor-length dresses with animal and tie-dyed prints are also being shown. the luxury hippie comes into full bloom here, be it styling with stilettos on the red carpet or barefoot on the

beach at an after-party.

the renowned photo model amanda nørgaard, who most recently has shown miu miu, prada and chanel and who in may 2010 received the top danish model award at the dansk

fashion awards, is again the campaign model for gestuz.
