Thank you so much for all the students of Temple and Garvey for joining Project WILD, getting up early every Sat-urday morning to make us, UCLA tutors, happy. This year, the beginning level has actually implemented a few new teaching methods, including the weekly introduction and quizzing of 5 new words, the favorite game of Jeopardy encompassing all the worksheets of the respective quarter, and the weekly 20 to 30 minutes of reading time. Overall, we are very happy with the results because we see that all of our students are learning and hopefully, using some of this material in their daily lives. We are also very pleased to see those same faces coming back to WILD, and they at the same time help to publicize this project, encouraging students from other schools to join. Thank you to all of you. With the school year coming to an end, the graduat-ing tutors, Kathy, Lily, Mutsumi, and Joyce, of beginning level will miss all of you and send out their love to all of the kids. We wish all of graduating students best of luck in high school, and if you ever need any help, just come back to WILD. You all know where we will all be every Saturday morning. Thank you for a great year and have a safe and wonderful summer!

With lots of love,Kathy, Lily, Tracy, Kristy, Trinh, Mutsumi, Joyce, Steven, Mable, Gabe, and Effi

Hi everyone, First of all, I just want to say thank you to all the stu-dents for making this a memorable year and quarter. I am so proud of all the hard work that you have done. The stu-dents in the intermediate level have been coming to site consistently and have taken advantage of what we have to offer. This year we focused primarily on improving reading comprehension and literary terms (remember personifica-

tion and connotation/denotation?) We feel that reading is one of the most important skills you can learn and we want you to not only read but read WELL. To the eighth graders, congratulations on graduating from Temple and Garvey and good luck next year in high school. We hope that everything you’ve learned from WILD will help you succeed in future endeavors. We also hope to see all the other students again in the fall, ready to learn and excel. Have a wonderful summer and keep on reading!

Best of luck,Joanna, Rachel, Linda, Jim, Annie, Natasha, Hoang, William, David, Crystal & all of Project WILD

Dear all, As another year comes to a close, I just want to say how I proud I am of all WILD students, especially those in the Advanced level. I have seen every single one of them give their best in completing their tasks and having fun while doing it! During Spring Quarter, they have learned about the different types of verb tenses, creative writing, and even a debate on school uniform. I think having a good writing skill is as important as having a good public speak-ing skill. Both of these skills are essential to use in and out of school. Even as a college student I still continue to struggle with both of them! But, there is always room for improvement, which is what Project WILD always encour-ages the students to do. Great job everyone!! On a lighter note...Yay! Summer is here! I hope everyone is enjoying their long break and on behalf of all the tutors: Thank you for making this year a great year and we can’t wait to see you all in the fall!

Best,Maria A.
